"The Revenant"

I am bit conflicted about it. Definitely a cinematic masterpiece. I was watching the movie and thinking, this movie is great, it is masterful but why is it not impacting me or stirring me the way it should other than the shock of watching a bear maul a person or Leo falling off a cliff on a horse. Surely, this movie should be the greatest movie ever, right? It came to me after a day. The story is old and has been done multiple times before. Its art for the sake of art. It doesn't have the emotional punch like "Saving Private Ryan" or the philosophical depth of "Thin red line". It's still a great movie but seems like a throwback to one of those 70's survival in the wild epics. Tom Hardy is amazing, deserved an Oscar as well.
Man you spoke my mind. There is no story, characterization or even much dialogue, which is pretty much everything I like about a good movie. Masterful cinematography, though. I'll give it that.

You crazy? Dark knight is five. Shawshank Redemption is five. Godfather is five. Civil War is three

They are all fives in chow’s book :afridi

Not into comic books and stuff but I do like my superhero flicks. Civil War is Marvel’s best work for mine. Ticked all the boxes for me. Might go and see it again actually :ronaldo

Talking about The Revenant in 4k it’s absolutely stunning. Pure reference quality.

Airlift.9/10

One of the best movies I have ever watched.Akshay Kumar's finest who has been making some useless movies in past few years

Thanks a lot, I've only seen 3 on that list with Zodiac being a favourite!

Sairat-Marathi movie, watched it as was curious about the hype, loved it.
A movie about an India that no longer exists for Bollywood-skinny,not v.good looking ordinary folks from rural or small town India,a movie that makes you think of caste, consequences of falling in love and makes you wonder where the honor is in honor killing.
The best thing about the movie is that it does not preach,it just tells the story, very beautifully, of two young lovers.

Serenity 9/10,can't believe i saw Frefly but didn't see the conclusion  great movie for all people that have seen the series,Nathan Fillion is probably my fav Canadian actor.

Serenity and Firefly are cult favorites. I know people who still campaign online to bring the show back.

I prefer if the show stays like that because all comeback shows are not really that good. They did well with the movie sadly killing two of the main characters.

The jacket: 5/10 waste of time, was watching it for its mysterious plot. Adrien Brody was good in it however.

Kapoor and Sons: 8.5/10

Finally watched it, worth the hype. Hard to term it as a family movie because some of the jokes aren't for kids, but I like how something major has to give for the dysfunctional family to become functional.

Karthik Calling Karthik: 8/10

Really good movie and bollywood should release more stuff like this instead of the same Salman Khan doing bhangra garbage. Messes with your mind at the start but turns out to be a good psychological thriller type deal. Songs are good too.

Watching The Nice Guys in the cinema tomorrow night. Its supposed to be great but unfortunately it will be censored here. No choice though dont wanna wait for DVD release.

Padosan (1968) - 10/10 : Fantastic movie, loved it. Def amongst the best bollywood movies ever made.

Catwoman. 0/10

Probably THE worst movie ever. Halle Berry was soooo cringeworthy.

Desi Boyz- 6.5/10 kind of meh, overall story was alright and the humor was fine too, but idk seemed rush. Watched it for Deepika.

Saw Unbreakable. My 3rd favourite M Night Shamalan movie after Sixth Sense and Signs. Too bad most of his other stuff is rubbish.

The Village is actually underrated. Get alot of uncecessary hate imo.

Yes it is pretty good compared to some of the other garbage hes made like the last airbender. I actualyl liked the visit his new horror movie. Saw it in the plane

Tamasha- Awesome movie. 8/10, didn't expect much but was really good even though I'm not a fan of love stories.

Straight Outta Compton.

Very interesting film about the rap group NWA.

Lots of bad language etc. but worth a watch 7/10

Re watched Groundhog Day. God I love this movie so much. It gets better with every viewing. A movie everyone can learn from.

Tale of Tales

Dark & twisted take on fairy tales. Anthology of three different stories. Well worth a watch.

Watched 'Sultan' yesterday at the Cinestar Cinema of Frankfurt am Main. I´ve watched a total of 35 films at cinemas (a couple of those twice) and can literally bet that no one visits it as often as I do from amongst the posters over here, but this was my first experience of a Bollywood film mind you. I don´t know what to say, the film itself was good. Was high in entertainment value, had emotions and had its moments of laughter as well. A very good film and a somewhat different take on the life of a sportsman. I´ve always believed that the inner motivation and drive, the extra reason to prove something or to prove someone wrong can go a long way in forming sporting greats and legends. Take any of them from any sport and you´ll discover hundreds of such hidden stories behind their successes.

Now, coming back to "I don´t know what to say", since this was my first experience with a hall full desi people (mostly Indians), it was a nightmare. Being seated in the highest row near to the exit door, I could hardly concentrate for the first 25 minutes. People kept walking in even 45 minutes into the film, talking loud. So, having weathered the early storm, I´d hoped we can finally concentrate on the thing all were there for, then I saw that this trend continue during every song as people would go out to either buy a new set of refreshments or to the toilet, and walk back into the hall after the song to distract further.

The worst still perhaps were the loud shouts and cheers each time Salman Khan did or said something outrageous. Mind-numbing and embarrassing!

Overall though I´d take it given the film and in general. A good outing with a few of my family members.

Conjuring 2

Very well made sequel. Rarely do we get a horror movie with both character development & good script. 8/10

Central Intelligence - 8/10
Stars Dwayne Johnson (Rock) and Kevin Hart. Good knockabout comedy with some decent action bits. Had not really heard much about this but just saw it had decent User rating score (compared to Independence Day sequel anyway) went along to watch with nothing better on.

Sultan, Salman has churned 2 good movies within a year. Was lengthy with an overall run time of 170 mins but worth a watch.

Haha I feel you bro.. If you ever get a chance in your life watch a Salman movie in a theatre in meerut (cheap theatre not multiplex)... That experience is something else..

The Grimsby Brothers - 9/10 thought this was amazing, really funny, not for the family at all.

"A new assignment forces a top spy to team up with his football hooligan brother".

Its really funny from the get go, i swear the first scene was too funny. People here from the UK will love this

Finding Dory. Not as great as the original but still an entertaining movie that managed to tug on the heart strings a bit.
