What's new

What was the last thing you ate?

Had a bowl of chowmein for dinner last night. Haven't had anything to eat today, except a couple of bunkababs (the ones from Burns Road).

Haven't had many new foods recently, once my hand improves I might start cooking at Uni again!

Context: Burnt my hand in boiling water back in September, was a very bad burn

Ate Bakhtar (Afghan Chicken/Rice) for the first time in two months (since the diet began) and I regret it.

Bloated stomach and low levels of energy.

Stay away from junk food and soft drinks at all costs.

Went for a meal with the family on Friday as it was my dad's bday and my brother's bday 2 days before that. Ordered rice and chicken thigh, but the serving was very small so had to order more food so got mashed potato and some chicken breast. Was a nice restaurant.

I ate something called "Tehri". Its rice prepared with oil and turmeric mainly. People generally put it in a big container and stand with it on the street where any passerby can eat a little from it. It is served on numerous occassions like when a good news comes or when a sick family member recovers or even when someone survives a close accident etc. Part of Kashmiri culture.

I haven't posted anything on here for a while as I haven't ate any foods of note that I haven't already posted on here, boring times :(

Interesting, so it's not sold?

Its cooked in my home , specially in winters.

I think it's pretty well known in Pakistan, I haven't seen it much in restaurants but it's relatively common in my home and when we are invited to others'. Maybe because it's so simple and lacks meat/beef you won't find it in most gosht khor places.

I call it tahari tho :afridi

Yes. I remember many years ago when the highway was blocked for many days due to intense snow fall, there was shortage of food items in Kashmir. All of my cousins came to our house and we had a Tehri party which lasted the entire weekend. Its amazing how much we enjoyed something so simple. I guess the company matters more than the food. Memorable days.

You must’ve been desperate. Did you trap the poor rodent yourself, or did the cat bring it in?

Surprisingly cats these days are afraid of mice. Likewise have seen plenty of cats intimidate dogs larger than them as well. Throws the whole Tom and Jerry food chain out the window.

These millennial house animals have grown too soft. Back in the 60s things were different.

The other day I finally decided to make something else. I made handi chicken, made it following a recipe on youtube, I didn't use cream or ghee, used very little oil so overall pretty healthy meal, tasted god damn nice too! Had it with rice and lentils

One of many reasons I don’t have pets. Thankless millennial children are hard enough to handle as is, nevermind a cat that doesn’t even do the one job God intended it to.

Done some more cooking yesterday. Peshwari style chicken karahi, followed the same recipe as usual

Also had a toffee cupcake earlier. Feel so guilty whenever I eat junk food :(

Some beans, some bread and eggs to go along with a nice cuppa. JaDed favourite breakfast to :yk

Requested the wife today to make some khichdi today. We need to be easy on our stomach once in a while

Went to some relatives house today as got back from Uni yesterday and hadn't seen them for a few months. Was fed dalmot, some apple pastry thing, then went to another relatives house, over there had some nuts and some home made food, not sure what it was but pretty nice. Now time to do some exercise and burn the calories off.

Sunday was Choley Bhaturey , Dahi Bhalla & 2 helpings of Sooji [ semolina ] halwa which was full of raisins & almonds & cooked in Ghee .
Dinner too was heavy with Butter chicken topped with cream & rice followed by piping hot Gulab Jamuns garnished with pistachio slivers .
Today i felt like i had a stone in my stomach .

Wow you have given me some serious cravings.:snack:
Peshawari ice cream from Saddar and Gola Ganda from Dhoraji.

Made afghanistani chicken karahi last night. Very easy recipe and it came out very well in the end :)

Diet has been very bad last couple of days but it's Christmas so who cares! Christmas lunch was beef, potatoes, parsnips, yorkshire pudding, gravy and the dessert was absolutely delicious but idk what it was called, maybe I will have a look and put you all out of suspense later!

Karahi Gosht like a mard who appreciates shows like haunting of hill house unlike some :akhtar

Cold Sunday with night temperature around 5 c . Had crisp paratha cooked in ghee with fresh green pea keema , fish fry , followed by ras malai . Not healthy but very nice .

First post in this thread of 2019!

Last Monday I went to a family dinner party as it was my cousins birthday party and there was a chinese theme. There was soup, prawn crackers, dumplings etc for starters. Then in main course it was sweet and sour chicken, egg fried rice, chilli beef, noodles, some really nice prawn dish. All delicious. Dessert was cakes and ice creams.

Then a few days later my mum made vegetable stir fry for dinner and had that with lamb pea keema.

I also tried some vegan jerky thing from Aldi the other day, relatively nice for meat free.

Saturday we went for a meal for my uncle's surprise birthday party. It was amazing when he found out it was a surprise. Starters there was bread, hummus, pizza, sausages etc. For main course I ordered chicken kabseh, it was absolutely delicious, I ordered the right thing it seems, it came with rice, nuts and some sauce. I ordered mango madness drink, some smoothie. Cake was for dessert.

Yesterday my mother and brother made a fish pie, it was really nice

My grandmother took seriously ill last night . She is in ICU so not much cooking at home & the hospital has a good canteen .
I had 2 cutlets & toast at hospital earlier in evening & at home had grilled cheese toast with a fried egg .
