Your name sounds like 'lake' in my language. Are you a malayali?
Yes, I am a malayali. Born and brought up in Kerala.
I was at the Alappuzha backwater’s while I joined this forum. Hence the name.![]()
I ate something called "Tehri". Its rice prepared with oil and turmeric mainly. People generally put it in a big container and stand with it on the street where any passerby can eat a little from it. It is served on numerous occassions like when a good news comes or when a sick family member recovers or even when someone survives a close accident etc. Part of Kashmiri culture.
Interesting, so it's not sold?

You are right , its basically cooked at homes mostly.
I think it's pretty well known in Pakistan, I haven't seen it much in restaurants but it's relatively common in my home and when we are invited to others'. Maybe because it's so simple and lacks meat/beef you won't find it in most gosht khor places.
I call it tahari tho![]()

You must’ve been desperate. Did you trap the poor rodent yourself, or did the cat bring it in?
Surprisingly cats these days are afraid of mice. Likewise have seen plenty of cats intimidate dogs larger than them as well. Throws the whole Tom and Jerry food chain out the window.
These millennial house animals have grown too soft. Back in the 60s things were different.
