What would be your team if you had to pick an Under-30 Pakistan XI?

Too many 30 somethings slowing down the team, we are all well aware.

Yes Hafeez,Kami,Malik can make pretty 40s but they lack energy. They are in their mid 30s after all. We feel it most in the ODI games, just can't keep up with the youngsters.

If you could pick a team of under 30s?

1. Shehzad
2. Fakhar Zaman
3. Babar Azam
4. Saad Ali
5. Sarfaraz
6. Hussain Talat
7. Shadab Khan
8. Amad Butt
9. Amir
10. Hassan Ali
11. Irfan jnr

This applies even more so in a Tests.

Pakistan has a crop of non-productive elderly players unique in world cricket.

Younis Khan failed to score even 40 in either innings of 6 of his last 9 Tests outside Asia.

Mohammad Hafeez failed to reach 50 in either innings of his last 6 Tests outside Asia.

Misbah failed to reach even 40 in either innings of his last 5 Tests outside Asia.

The incredible thing is how frequently Younis, Misbah and Hafeez fail.

1. Ahmed Shehzad
2. Fakhar Zaman
3. Babar Azam
4. Haris Sohail
5. Sarfraz Ahmed*+
6. Aamer Yamin
7. Imad Wasim
8. Mohammad Amir
9. Amad Butt
10. Hasan Ali
11. Usama Mir

Babar to be 6th bowler in Asia. Yamin in Eng/NZ/Aus/SA. Of course Haris isn't ready yet, but this is fake. Yamin might not be a great hitter, but still better than U. Akmal. Maybe Talat ahead of Yamin, but Yamin is more experienced atm. I put in Amad ahead of Rumman b/c he can bat better. His bowling could be expensive, but there are 5 other options. Mir ahead of Shadab because the latter might be bits and pieces in ODIs atm. Specialist leggie can focus on his bowling which is important. I agree with OP that we should kick out all oldies and play an -30 team just like England does.

This team wouldn't be Top 5 material currently, but it would be :aag in a couple of years time.

Haris Sohail wouldn't be in my squad based on current form. He needs some time in domestic cricket and I would only call him up if there's an extreme lack of alternatives. Based on that, I'd prefer Hussain over Haris.

Mohammad Rizwan is there solely as a backup WK, especially now that Kamran Akmal can't be considered for this.

Again, Haris's recent form was taken into consideration.

Current form doesn't matter. This is a -30 XI which won't happen currently anyway. Hopefully all of the oldies fail miserably and are kicked out after WI.

Ideally, all oldies and unfit players should be kicked out of not only the international side, but in contention for national selection. The oldies should do coaching courses and coach young U-13 sides or get degrees in broadcasting/english to replace rubbish Ramiz and Waqar commentary. Unfit players can be told to rot in domestic system unless they improve their' physical abilities.

Why would current form not matter? This thread assumes that you're selecting an under-30 squad as of today.

I don't know why I see Fakhar Zaman everywhere.. there was so much hype on PP about him that I had to see his videos on YouTube. After I saw the videos I was seriously taken aback. He is probably a slightly refined version of Awais Zia. Sorry I don't mean to demean anyone. But Fakhar, given his current technique should not be near an international side. This shows the state of affairs in the batting department in Pakistan
