Where will Younis Khan end up in terms of runs & 100s in the All Time List?

Looking at both charts Younis Khan is certainly too far back to catch Tendulkar but can end up 2nd/3rd in both runs and 100's.
We have 12 tests in the next 7 months (4 Eng, 3 WI, 2 NZ, 3 AUS).

Obviously we can dream he will hit a golden patch and get tons of runs and 100's especially with the Windies in UAE but if he can play 3-4 more years its all certainly in reach.

No way he is playing for 3-4 years more. Doesn't have technique and the game to go for much longer.

In fact this England tour will be his last, if not, then Australia for sure will be it.

I read somewhere recently he said he can play for couple of years more. Misbah will certainly retire this year and Younis may stick around couple of years more to help team through the immediate post misbah future

The board won't drop him. They want a Pakistani batsman in that 10,000 run list.

I think he will retire after he scores 10k runs but it is hard to predict how long will it take.

If he averages 50+ in both English and Australian series, he will become one of the ATGs of the game without a doubt.

Lol no way. You seriously think he'll retire or get dropped before he hits 10k?

Yes but he needs to have atleast one brilliant Knock in Australia. He has one in England ( 170 odd and would be nice if he gets one more) and has done well in NZ. A failure in one country i.e.SA is alright and I won't mind his mediocre record vs WI seriously too.

in both cases, he might just cross Sunny Gavasker.
i think he ll retire after completing 10k runs and when he retires after making 10k runs, i expect 3-4 hundreds from him on the way

He should complete 10000runs milestone it would be an awesome achievement

My guess would be around 35 tons with close to 11000 runs with avg dropping to around 50.

The max I think he can target is 11000 runs but that will take around 3 years..

He is going to play till he has surpassed 10k runs so will get 36/37 centuries. Not a bad career tbh

He'll flop in Aus at the very least. Inzi might get rid of him then to build for the future. Only way he's continue if he does zid irrespective of if he is performing well or flopping.

Let's see kiya hota hai.

Kuch kuch hota hai :yk2

Yeah, and we've seen the zid from him before on many occassions, so I expect it to continue. :yk

On 9456 now.
Equal with steve waugh on 32 centuries and 2 behind gavaskar, lara and mahela jayawardena with dravid another 2 ahead.
Fully expext him to equal the next 3 vs the windies in the uae

Good, safe prediction. Didn't fall into any traps in case of an outlier double ton :yk :yk2

Still stand by it. Watch.

Generally Australia tours force players to retire. Not sure if Younis can last after the Australia tour. Great player nonetheless.

Doubt he can last past Australia, but unless he flops vs WI in UAE next, he'll make it in AUS. Few expect him to last beyond it, many would back him to make 10,000 and if plays till next summer vs BANG? Few would be surprised if he comes close 11,000 even if few would put money on it.

Don't think when you get past 9,000 in a hundred tests numbers really matter too much.

But if he plays like he did in NZ/AUS [one staggering knock at least, putting a price on his wicket in spite of his nach gana on the pitch], he gets close to Inzi and an easy contender for our top 3 greatest batsmen excluding players from the 50s/60s. Also, an ATG.

Will easily score 2 tons vs WI in UAE. Anything less should be a disappointment for him.

He'll thrash the Windies(unless he flops big time). He'll score a 100 in Australia but none in NZ.Will make around 10,200 runs.

Just realized he is 2nd on the list of players for most runs who are still active and is first on the list for most centuries for active players.

Already better than Inzi. He was only good at eating aloo parathas

Interesting, before the start of the tour i looked at his runs i think were just over 9100 and thought to myself hmm maybe 10k runs might just be a bit too far for him now because i expected YK and Misbah to call it a day after tough Aus series. And now the fact he is nearing 9500 by the end of the 4 test matches he is doing exceptionally well and should easily smash the 10k milestone before the end of AUS tour.

If some journalist are to be believed that Younus wants to push for the captaincy after Misbah retires especially as he says he is 4 years younger then Misbah then potentially he could want to play for another couple of years and finish after the 2018 england tour then he could even be looking at 12k test runs.

Not too bad for someone who was supposed to fail from all the jumping and hopping.

He did fail though when he was jumping and hopping, only scored when he stayed still which is rule number 1 of batting.

but anyway i didn't once dare say anything bad about YK when all this was going on, for me he is an all time great with or without the 10k milestone just because of his unmatched second innings record. That is what puts YK alongside the greats because he scores when it really matters.

He is one of my favourite players and I've loved him since the newzeland series in 2001. But I have to say he is not an all time great but the best Pakistani batsman of all time.

He still has a bit to prove against Australia and he's a little suspect on seaming pitches. He's nowhere near the quality of Sanga or tendulkar or even Dravid. But he's our hero and an unsung hero and we should all wish him every success. Long may the desire and hunger for runs burn.
