Which one is worse: Bangladesh whitewash or one against Sri Lanka?

As a fan of Pakistan cricket, I felt the Lankans whitewash hurt me more because it ended our 7-year winning streak in the UAE and I really felt like Sarfraz, Azhar and Shafiq the more senior players would stand up which they didn't.

Pakistan had an unbeaten run across all formats since 1999 against Bangladesh. That was 16 years!

I would have to say Bangladesh. SriLanka always had a team with great potential and the players to back their team up and not to mention that 16 years like OP mentioned.

It wasn’t a winning streak, you only won against England and Australia (and windies if you want to count them :yk)

If I were a Pakistani, I would probably care about the Banglawash more. There is a history between Pakistan and Bangladesh that goes beyond cricket.

Banglawash was humiliating at the time, but Bangladesh followed it up by thrashing India and South Africa as well, which obviously softened the blow.

SL is not winning a Test series against any top side any time soon, plus it also ended our flimsy unbeaten home run as well.

You mean the Odis series whitewash vs Ban??

Then losing vs current SL team at home is obviously worse.

You can't bring the 16 year record because they have become decent enough recently only.

But then Bangladesh went on to beat India and SA as well and 16 years of beating BANG isn't the same as 7 years of dominance in the UAE.

in test cricket we were pretty much unbeaten and reached the top of the tree.

TBH Bangladesh hurt me more. i'm mentally prepared to taking a few Test beatings in the next couple of years if I can see improvement. Also the ODI team brings more glory and recognition to the country as seen from our CT win. the test arena isnt in the spotlight as much so we can afford to rebuild on the quiet.

The Sri Lanka defeat was worse for me. They ended our UAE streak and they are going throu a transitional period and were defeated by them. The 1st test was especially humiliating as we should have chased down that score.

losing a test series after CT championship against SL who draw series with BD and losing it in UAE should be 10 time more painful than against BD where PAK was going through transition.

The Lankan defeat was worse. The BD series was forgivable since Pakistan had a brand new captain and a brand new team and BD side was on the upswing. BD also went onto win against India and SA. Lanka on the other hand was teetering and tootering and we made them look like the Aussies of 2000s due to poor selections, bad tactics and persisting with half-fit players (Azhar, Amir, Hasan etc)

BD in ODI in BD >>> SL in test outside of SL

People may feel bad due to different reasons and answers may vary, but logically speaking getting whitewashed by SL in UAE got to worse performance by some margin.

BD. It was the way we meekly surrendered all three games which was pathetic.

Hello guys

Losing by such an emphatic manner to SA was humiliating. Although I could cut some slack because we rarely play outside the SC.

Taking nothing away, Pakistan Should have annihilated SL at home

How is your post related to this thread....
if nothing atleast read the OP

I am pretty sure thats what most people said about BD after they swept Pakistan. Not many predicted that they would go on to thrash India and SA. How can you be certain SL won't do the same?

It has to be BD series. Not only for 3-0 margin, but the way PAK lost was embrassing. Here, actually both matches were extremely tight & PAK made a tactical blunder.

I meant away. At home they are still going to be good of course.

There we also made tactical blunder, by appointing a non-deserving captain based on saviour's recommendation. It only took us two years to rectify that blunder of blunders.

Sir... the question was whether Pakistan's defeat to BD in ODI and T20 series in 2015 was worse or Pakistan's test defeat to SL in 2017

My bad
Lanka 2017

Bangladesh 2015 had some decent players and we beat SA and India too. BD played at home.

Pakistan lost in UAE is definitely embarassing especially to Lanka who struggled against Zimbabwe

Bangladesh was worse - barely put up a fight and our unbeaten 16 year record versus them was over.

Losing to that Bangladesh team wasn't that bad. It's just that some fans are finding it hard to accept that Bangladesh has improved in the LOI's. Still you can't compare losing 2 test matches at home to a weak Sri Lankan team without Matthews with that Bangladesh LOI series. Since tests are considered superior than ODI's I will say this Lanka series was the worst out of these two.
