Which side will win the England vs Pakistan match in the ICC World Cup 2019?

Has to be a must win game for Pakistan since they can't afford to lose 2 in 2 but can they surprise the heavyweights England with a good performance?
 
It is not a do or die game for England. ONly in such scenario you can catch them off guard as they show stage fright. But this is a regular league phase. Don't keep your hopes high.
 
Look at it this way:
Do you want pakistan to win this match and give you false reassurance or do you want them to go crashing out and maybe it will mean that our cricket rebuilds from scratch??
I'd rather take the latter option. If pak make it to the semis (it'll be a fluke) then that means sarfaraz will be secure and I can't be asked to see him for the next 4 years. We might as well get knocked out now and then rebuild.

Win is out of the question, I would advise having a&e ambulance besides the pitch, Archer/plunket going to concuss Imam & co badly. Inzy is not only being unfair on Imam but also his brother as Imam is going to get seriously hurt with his ltd technique.
 
It's forecast to rain in Nottingham on Monday, so there is some good news for Pakistan at least.

Well it was Haris ducking like a girl today and then played a bad bowl. I dont want this unfit player near out team.
 
Why is it a must win game for Pakistan? They have no hope of getting beyond the group stages so better just to take one game at a time and be thankful at least we get a few games to assess which player is worth persevering with for future.

Oh and they have no chance whatsoever of beating England. Target should be to lose by less than 100 runs or without too many overs to spare.
 
The only way we can win is if we put England into bat and the pitch isn't as conducive for hitting. England will play their usual way and aim for 350+. If we capitalize on their undue aggression we can restrict them to 280. Then the onus will be on Imam and Babar to play longish innings even if it is as 80 SR. Take us to 200/5 by the 42th over and then its anybody's game.
 
The result is a foregone conclusion, but one can hope that Pakistan may compete better. Was good to see Amir getting a 3fer, let's hope he can kick on and inspire Pakistan to a magical turnaround in this WC.
 
My prediction is that we will lose to ENG embarrassingly and win the remaining games aside from India and finish 6-3 and possibly 3rd or 4th place!
 
Are you kidding? why is this a do or die game for Pakistan. England will win comfortably in the end I think - but we still have 8 games to go and with backs against our wall the bowlers will elevate the game - just waiting on batsmen to join the party
 
Pakistan can win. It's not impossible. If Pakistan bowls first, England can implode in the quest to get 400. However at the moment it looks really tough. Even a 180 chase for Pakistan would be difficult.

My guess is Pakistan will loose by a big margin again( based on the 4 ODIs pre world cup with Eng). The damaged NRR will be damaged even more.
After that they may win 5 to 6 out of remaining of matches...but in the end if it boils to NRR....the first 2 games will hurt.
 
saying that the last 2 games in the series i believe Pak should have won.

But i think at the moment player politics are being played in the dressing room. imho

Would you be surprised if Pakistan defeated England on 3rd June?

We have played England enough times in the previous series to spring a surprise on them.

If any team has faced England multiple times recently(arguably one of the top contenders), it is this Pakistani team.

The law of averages says that if you play a team a certain number of times, chances are you will win one game against them in a series of 4 or 5 matches.

We lost 4 games against England, but came close a couple of times to beating them.

We also did something similar in the champions trophy, despite comprehensively losing a bilateral series against England in 2016 where we lost 4-1 against them.

I know it is a cliche' stating Pakistan is an unpredictable team, we also know that England in world tournaments collectively collapse and the sum of their potential talent goes down as the pressure on them increases.

You are absolutely right - we will most likely have the worst NRR but it won't matter if we can win out 6 games. If we win 5 though that will be tough
 
Shoaib Akhtar said earlier if Pakistan don't thrash (Phainta) England on 3rd June then change my name. Wonder what is his stance now.
 
Many of those stating here that Pakistan has no chance of winning also said that they had no chance of beating England in the CT SF. I too expected the same. But they proved us wrong. I think Pakistan has a decent chance of winning - 30% to say the least. I wish em good luck.
 
It will be the best eid present I could wish for if we bat first and get the groove going again
 
After losing 4-0 to England, and getting destroyed by Windies there is hardly any chance of winning this. England will probs outplay us with the bat again.
 
Rain will probably be the best result for pakistan by current standards. That being said, if they turned over England then they will gain some much needed confidence and belief.

But man they hit the ground real hard today, I don't think they themselves will genuinely believe that they can win this world cup now.

Pakistan for me. Pakistan will win inshallah on Monday.

If there is any team that can collapse in similar fashion, or worse, it's England.
 
Normally my heart says Pakistan.

But after today’s match I don’t even dare to make a prediction.
 
The odds of us winning reflect how badly we performed. Before this match our odds to beat Eng were 2/1, now they've jumped to 3/1. People who understand how these odds work would realise how big of a jump this is. 50% higher. Even the bookies weren't expecting pakistan to perform this badly.
 
I will be there to support them, past is the past and we will win without a doubt god willing. We will find some momentum, a win is all we need to lift ourselves and bring the spirits up

Exactly I understand that I even said it for the outright World Cup winner Pakistan we’re ranked higher than West Indies and Bangladesh but after West Indies warm up against newzeland Pakistan are now just above Afghanistan

Pakistan cricket is dead.

Keep changing captains.

We've been doing this since Malik in 2007.

Results have more or less been the same but now they're just getting worse.

This tournament is going to be like the 2013 Champions Trophy but with much more baisti

They highly unpredictable like cornered tigers who dial up their performance to 11 in ICC tournaments especially in England and light a fire under the opposition.

CT17 Final is case and point. Pakistan wins when they are not favourites and same thing happened in 1992.

So what happened in 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2015?
 
Pakistan has 1% chance but dare I say if they somehow beat England cornered tigers will roar gain :P
 
If we can beat England somehow it will be a huge boost which can eventually propel us to last 4. Hope for the best

NRR is meaningless for Pakistan

They have 0% qualification chance. Best they can do is to go on the field and show some fight

Since you are clearly an old timer and are having memory issues - We did particularly well from 2003 post WC up until the 2007 WC where we lost against Ireland.

IIRC we were in the top 3 in the ODI rankings.

So you're wrong, the rebuilding after the 2003 WC worked, from 2007 onward we've been awful.

Amir sohail brought in many new players but Rebuilding didnt work even then. We were good in rankings because we still had match winners in our team but almost rebuilding gave almost no new stars. Razzaq, Inzi, Yousuf, etc were all estabilished before 2003 WC

We got Rana Naved, Umar Gul, Salman Butt, Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal, Mohammad Asif, Yasir Hameed, Imran Farhat.


Some of those weren't world beaters but they didn't do too bad. Farhat/Hameed had world record partnerships around 2003/2004.

I just can't see Pak winning at all. As much as it hurts after seeing Bangladesh win today and Pak losing to Afghanistan recently we may not even win a match in the entire tournament.

I’ll raise that. England are going to have a bad day and lose one of their group games and it could easily be this one. Pakistan are unpredictable.

Easier said than done. We have no world class pacers in our line up whereas the English team is full of world class batsmen
 
THe only way we could win this is by law of avg.

ENgland has won 4 games straight, the streak will have to break. Rather than that there is no way.

But if Pakistan wins against them, it would be a huge boost for us. Hoping Hafeez could inspire these guys
 
Our only hope is to bowl first, if we bat first we are again looking under 200 score. Same ground as WI match, bouncers galore.
 
Pakistan will win inshallah and I have a feeling ,we can comfortably defeat england if we bowl first.

Also Archer only played one game in the recent ODI series, he be there to create more problems. Just read that the pitch for tomorrow is the world record pitch on which 488 and 440 odd were scored, so now I am thinking should be bowl first or not. May be rain will come after all to save us the embarrassment.
