Andre Russel adds the x-factor that united missed last season.

They also have picked a lot of potential all-rounders, if they are more than bits and pieces cricketers, this team will really be tough to beat.

Lahore too have made some good investments.

Karachi are ok. Peshawar are marginally ok maybe.

But Lord knows what Quetta and Multan were thinking. Moin Khan selecting his son is impartial - that too someone who doesn't look in great shape at the moment. Multan Sultans have legitimately collected all the rejects whom no one wanted and made a team out of it.

TBH squad strength doesn't really matter that much, all that matters is performance and peaking at the right time.

Islamabad United.

Ronchi
Farhan
Talat
Billings
Misbah
Fahim
Shadab
Russel
Zafar/Amad
Sami
Badree

Really strong team.

Tough to say which team looks the best among Lahore,Karachi and Islamabad and almost impossible to say who is the worst among Quetta and Multan

This year, we might see Lahore-Karachi Final. IU & PZ are probably next 2 teams, but I feel Multan will make the cut - not sure at whose expense. Won't be upset if PZ drops out early - that gives our 2 players couple of weeks extra rest.

I think Imad Wasim will be lifting the trophy for Karachi in Karachi.

Islamabad is a batting power house this season.

Though Islamabad lacks fast bowlers.

RUmman Raees, Amad Butt, Sadab Khan, Husain Talat, Sahibzada Farhan, Faheem Ashraf. They sure did steal all the talent in Pakistan

Lahore Qalandars!!!

Btw I am really liking the emerging pool of players selected this year!

I missed the trick question - it's not who is going to win, rather strongest squad on paper. Leaving the Sup. players, I think LQ has the strongest squad - apart from Buz, their 4 foreigners are in 20s still and at their prime.

Probably, my order is

1. LQ
2. KK
3. IU
4. PZ
5. MS
6. QG

Though, I think PZ will finish below MS this year because of over aged squad, players are heading towards wrong end.

I always believe, any PAK franchise should pick batsmen from foreign quota, because of domestic bowling resources - IPL does opposite, paid $1.2mn to Tymal Mills!!!!!! In that regard, LQ's picks are really smart - On top of Buz, picked 2 (3 if I consider Munro), batsmen for top order, in their prime age and in great form, Narine also is a hard hitting opener and only bowler they picked is a unique type, who should exploit UAE tracks.

If Misbah was not part of Islamabad I would have supported them after Quetta as I am from Islamabad myself and considering they have the most number of youngsters this year.

43 year old uncle pata nahi kab jayen gai. Bas yar kafi ho gya ab dosrun ko bhi chance do. Like Younis he should also have retired from t20s. Even Afridi should leave. Dont see the point of uncles (who are not in contention for Nation t20 selection) playing domestic t20s. Rahi baat fans ki to they will follow PSL with or without these uncles.

Afridi is still good enough for the PSL. Last season showed that he is still probably the best lower-order hitter in the country, and I don't think that has changed. His bowling has diminished, but his batting remains strong for a lower-order T20 batsman.

I’m seeing Isb United vs Peshawar Zalmi Final. They are the 2 most balanced sides right now. LQ is bowling heavy with too many hit or miss players in the batting department. KK have a weak middle order relying solely on an unreliable Shahid Afridi. Quetta have quality batting lineup but their bowling is a farce to say the least.

Karachi are being over hyped, there bowling is strong but there batting isn't convincing at all. Wright did well in PSL 1 but now is 2 years older, Bopara is more of a finisher. Babar is playing anchor but other than Afridi, don't see any dangerous hitters. Don't think they can get big scores regularly but KK bowling can defend 140 on these wickets.

Islamabad United looking like the side that will perform the most consistent. Lahore as always looking the most exciting.

You really rate his captaincy or feel he will perform extra ordinary this PSL?

I think Karachi have the most balanced squad, and he is a decent captain. His relationship with Arthur is very strong which should help.

Come February, we will see threads if Imad should be made T20I captain in order to take some burden off Sarfraz's unfit shoulders.

That's exactly what I wanted to say. If Imad succeeds he will suddenly become the messiah here to take over from Sarfraz in the limited overs games.

Have been following Imad since 2008 u19 wc and then for Islamabad, he is a decent captain but not someone who will lead us to new heights. They should groom someone else for captaincy. My choice would be Hasan or Shadab, then Fakhar.

Again Islamabad have the best team and with additions of Fahim Ashraf and Sahibzada Farhan they have made some really strong picks.

Don’t buy the hype surrounding Karachi tho they have 2 world class fast bowlers in Amer and Mitchell Johnson but it’s the spinners that win games in UAE so I don’t expect them to have a major impact. Afridi too is retired so I don’t have much expectation from him. Imad Wasim so far hasn’t taken any game by the scruff and won it for Pakistan so also don’t see him to be an inspirational captain.

For me it’s between Islamabad and Zalmis.

Afridi is still putting in the performances at least.

It's going to become awkward for IU if Misbah keeps batting the way he is currently at BPL, striking at 80-90 in matches where 160 is scored....

The only thing bringing the United down is Misbah's slow batting evident by his recent form and Ifti chacha.

Still, apart from that they are the strongest side in the PSL which speaks volume of the other players.

Ifiti chacha might not play.

It's really between IU, KK, and LQ. I think it will most likely be Lahore and Karachi in the final (IU lacks a quality hitter at the top and Misbah's tactics are not going to be effective as I believe Deano+Akram have left) which will bring a lot of posters into overdrive. I think Islamabad has the best team but after inclusion of supplementary players Karachi looks too well.

Yea he will have to perform first, after being a no-show for 2 seasons, I don't think he fits the bill to even captain a side full of superstars. Any other player would probably have had a demotion by now. Smells like nepotism and combination of english speaking skills along with being born in Wales

Will Lynn be available for whole season as I have asked in Lahore Qalandars squad thread?

As Aus, Nz, Eng tri series is in Feb ending 21st Feb. There are chances that Lynn might be selected but there must be some understanding on it from his behalf otherwise he wouldnt have been selected as platinum like what happened with evin Lewis.

Islamabad have the best squad, they made plenty of smart picks, but now it’s the struggle of which big names they will leave out.
Lahore Qalandars look good coming out of the draft. However, if you start to make an XI, you will struggle as they only have 4 proper batsmen, and to make the middle to lower order stronger they will have to play Mathews ahead of Mustafizur Rehman.
Karachi Kings have a nice balance of talented local players and experienced overseas players.
Peshawar Zalmi have gone overboard with all rounders, meaning that many players will not get an opportunity. Their 9 retentions are good and along with Tamim Iqbal (returning) and Dwayne Bravo, they will still have a strong XI.
Multan Sultans have done well bearing in mind they had the final pick in each round. Imran Tahir will boost their bowling attack and Darren Bravo will solidify their middle order. Bowling attack is also quite experienced. However, they lack bench strength, especially in terms of batting.
Quetta Gladiators were the worse at the draft. Although their top order looks good, their lower order seems weak. They have plenty of depth in the spin department but fast bowling seems very weak. Rahat Ali as a gold pick was unbelievable.

0 votes for Quetta and rightly so, they deserve to finish at the bottom barring any fluke wins

Dean Jones is there! And Islamabad will have Hales at the top for a few matches!

Lynn will be available for whole season. He has ended his contract with the shield side he used to play for and wants to be a freelance cricketer.

Also Mitchell McClenaghan will also be available for whole season for LQ as he has officially ended his contract with NZC and also wants to be a freelance cricketer. Suprised that he was picked as a supplementary player.

Jason Roy and Rashid Khan both will be available for QG for some of the matches.
QG will be heavily dependant on their Foriegn Players (except Mahmudullah) to have any chance of making into semis...

PZ could have been the contenders for the title but since the BCB have decided to allow only 2 foreign leagues NOCs for the BCB contracted players then its hard to imagine that Shakib and Tamim would participate in the PSL next year.

Thanks a lot for the info.

Tough call between Quetta and Islamabad but went for Quetta Gladiators.

With the addition of Shan Masood, I don't think anyone can seriously argue against the strength of Multan's squad.

Lahore has done well this year and salman irshad may aid variety to their bowling....the orher guy named Ghulam mudassir is trash from what i have seen so far..he is too raw and wayward.
