It'll be the first time India would be without Kohli in our mutual encounters and he has generally been the difference between both the sides in recent times. On top of that Pak side is fit and firing on all cylinders.

Advantage Pakistan.

I think we will. Indian middle order is weak and as long as handle the spinners I think we will be fine. Pakistan to win.

Indian team is looking weak. I have massive problems with Jadhav's selection. Dhoni can kill all the momentum. I think Pakistan has upper hand.
Although I will be happy to be proven wrong.

Pakistan. I expect India to fold under 200. They may need some time to get used of playing on slow pitches of the UAE.

Indian middle order and having just one all rounder and that being Pandya will be the weak link. However, Indian team is a lot more experienced which is always a big plus, even without Kohli their top 3 have more experience with around 350, 400 matches while Pak top 3 dont even have experience of 100 matches.

For Pak the weaknesses are lack of experience and lack if consistency (Have improved a lot though).

India should be considered favourites simply due to weight of historic results.

Pakistan. absence of Kohli has bridged the gap between the two sides, but Pakistan carry more self-belief and motivation at this point. They are probably hungrier than India for this tournament.

Kohli's impact in Indo-Pak games since 2011 WC:

1) Asia cup 2012 - Single handedly won the game for Ind scoring 183 runs chasing(MoM)

2) WT20 2012 - Kohli not out innings win the game for India (MoM)

3) Aane Do Series - Kohli flopped, Ind lost

4) CT 13 - Minimal impact, yet remain not ou to steer India home.

5) Asia cup 2014 - Kohli flopped, Ind lost.

6) WT20 2014 - Kohli not out innings win the game for India (MoM)

7) WC 15 - Kohli century won the game for India (MoM)

8) Asia cup 2016 - Kohli not out innings win the game for India (MoM)

9) WT20 2016 - Kohli not out innings win the game for India (MoM)

10 CT group match - Kohli's 81(68balls) let Ind thrash Pak by 124 runs.

11) CT Final - Kohli flopped, Ind lost.

So you can imagine what a huge impact Kohli had on Indo-Pak games over 6 years now. Without him, India will surely find it tough.

If Rohit Sharma doesn't get out in the first 2 overs of Amir, then India. Considering Pakistan's traditional weakness against leg spinners, I expect Chahal to get Pakistan's middle order.

I am not going to vote as I have no idea. I really think people are overrating Pakistan/underrating India. Part of me actually wouldn't mind losing as it would make it sweeter if we beat them in the super 4/Final if we both get there.

To all the Pakistan fans who have already started trolling India assuming we'll win, this is my message:

Don't get too cocky, nobody is psychic.

Spot on. No kohli means advantage Pakistan. I would be weary of rohit and dhawan though.

Very tough to say, to the extent that I haven´t even voted in the poll. However, having played on the UAE pitches and in general in those conditions and the atmosphere over the last eight years or so gives Pakistan a slight edge I feel, as does Kohli´s absence in the Indian batting line-up.

As a somewhat irrelevant note, I may add that Dhoni may enjoy playing on these slow pitches. I firmly believe that the ODI game has evolved post-2015 to a point where such huge totals are set up or are left to be chased which have put things slightly beyond Dhoni´s reach and ability. He´s still a good batsman I feel for pitches which keep the total below 300, especially around 270 or so - as rare as it is anyway in this era!

Vote away, folks!

For the option beginning with 'I'. :batman:

very tough call.... I say 60-40 to pakistan. If kohli was there I would say 60-40 to Ind.

People are keep making the point that this tournament is irrelevant and Ind don't care... this should stop.

If the tournament was irrelevant it would not have been existed and If Ind don't care then they wouldn't have participated.:ishant

India might sneak home with a close victory.

Feeling jittery about the match-up as Imam will likely put tremendous pressure on FZ and Babar early on, which might lead to a collapse later.

Whichever team bats first and makes at least 250, it is their game to lose.

I am confused because most of the matches between India and Pakistan start from 50-50.

Also it seems only Pakistani fans are interested in this match. I am expecting only 10-20 indian fans in the stadium since most of them don't care about this match.

Kohli's absence won't be a factor when India face Pakistan: Ganguly

KOLKATA: Former skipper Sourav Ganguly said India are a better team and absence of regular skipper Virat Kohli won't be a factor when the defending champions take on arch-rivals Pakistan in a high-voltage Asia Cup clash on Wednesday.

The two bitter foes will reignite their rivalry in the Asia Cup on Wednesday with India having a 6-5 win-loss record from 12 encounters in the continental event.

"It will be a 50-50 contest in Dubai," Ganguly said on the sidelines of a promotional event here.

India are the most successful side in the Asia Cup, having won the title a total of six times, while Pakistan bagged the crown twice.

Rohit Sharma will lead India in the absence of Kohli who has been given rest after a draining England tour.

"Virat Kohli's absence won't be a factor, they are a better side," Ganguly said, adding Pakistan too have improved on their performance.

The last time the two sides met was the Champions Trophy summit clash in England last year, with Pakistan winning the match by 180 runs.

India begin their Asia Cup campaign against Hong Kong on Tuesday, while Pakistan have made their intentions clear with an eight wicket win over Hong Kong on Sunday.

So Ganguly is saying the same thing here that its 50-50 any side can win. Also he is saying Kohli's absence won't be a big factor. There goes our excuse if we lose against Pakistan. :inti

India slightly has an upper hand at the moment but this could all change if these two manage to take the innings to the last half say around 35th over then Asif Ali and rest can unleash..
