Based purely on the Asia cup
Rohit (c) - No explanation needed
Dhawan - No explanation needed
Md Shahzad - Contributed with the bat in all but 1 match
Malik - Calm head, taking Pakistan to win against AFG, and contributed in all matches
Mushfiqur (wk) - No explanation needed
HAsmatullah Shahidi - Was between playing Imam-Ul-Haq and Shahidi. But Imam's an opener, and needed a stronger middle order
Jhadhav - Excellent 3rd spinner and ok'ish with the bat.
Rashid - Best in the tourney and handy with the bat
Kuldeep - 2nd best spinner in the tourney
Mustafizur - Brilliant bowler at the death
Bumrah - The best pace bowler in the tourney
Interestingly, in total
Indians - 5
Bangladeshis - 2
Afghanistanis - 3
Pakistanis - 1
It shows a few things
1. India dominated with its openers and bowlers. Jhadhav there as the 3rd spinner
2. Bangladesh only have 2 players in the Asia Cup XI, but they still reached the final. That shows that they displayed a lot of team effort. Players like Mortaza, Miraz, Liton Das, Shakib, Rubel & Mahamudullah and played a part in the matches that Bangladesh won.
3. Afghanistan - they have 3 players in the XI, despite not winning a game in the super 4s. They were fairly dependent on a few players and unlike Bangladesh, were not displaying total team effort.
4. Pakistan - Only 1 player, shows how poor the display from Pakistan was. Imam, Malik and Afridi were the only players of note throughout the tourney, and even then they did not the games by the scruff of the neck.
