Rohit Dhawan Kohli BABAR shakib Mushi. Kidhar. Rashid , Bumrah ,fizz Shahin shah/ Rubel. Tough to pick one as you need a left arm tall bowler so Shahin makes it.

On current form:

Malik
Jadhav
Rashid
Kuldeep
Shaheen
Bumrah
Mustafizur

Rohit Sharam
Shikhar Dhawan
Virat Kohli
Shoaib Malik
Mushfiqur Rahim (wk)
Shakib Al Hasan
Hardik Pandya
Rashid Khan
Kuldeep Yadav (Hasan Ali)
Junaid Khan (Mustafizur Rehman)
Jasprit Bumrah

Hasan Ali would come in outside the subcontinent. I'm also open to having Mustafizur ahead of Junaid.

I was initially going to select Bhuvi but I still don't think he picks up enough wickets.

Based on the performance of the participants (not the one who was not playing)

Dhawan
Sharma
Mohammad SHazad
Malik
Rahim
Inamul
Jadeja
Kuldeep
Rashid
Fiz
Bumrah

Just based on the ASIA Cup:

1. Rohit
2. Dhawan
3. KL Rahul.
4. S. Malik.
5. Jadhav
6. M. Nabi
7. MSD/Mush
8. Jadeja
9. Rashid.
10. Bumrah
11. Fizz

Would have loved Mush over MSD but Mush's keeping is under suspect, yesterday he leaked in few runs at the end.

Based purely on the Asia cup

Rohit (c) - No explanation needed
Dhawan - No explanation needed
Md Shahzad - Contributed with the bat in all but 1 match
Malik - Calm head, taking Pakistan to win against AFG, and contributed in all matches
Mushfiqur (wk) - No explanation needed
HAsmatullah Shahidi - Was between playing Imam-Ul-Haq and Shahidi. But Imam's an opener, and needed a stronger middle order
Jhadhav - Excellent 3rd spinner and ok'ish with the bat.
Rashid - Best in the tourney and handy with the bat
Kuldeep - 2nd best spinner in the tourney
Mustafizur - Brilliant bowler at the death
Bumrah - The best pace bowler in the tourney

Interestingly, in total
Indians - 5
Bangladeshis - 2
Afghanistanis - 3
Pakistanis - 1

It shows a few things
1. India dominated with its openers and bowlers. Jhadhav there as the 3rd spinner

2. Bangladesh only have 2 players in the Asia Cup XI, but they still reached the final. That shows that they displayed a lot of team effort. Players like Mortaza, Miraz, Liton Das, Shakib, Rubel & Mahamudullah and played a part in the matches that Bangladesh won.

3. Afghanistan - they have 3 players in the XI, despite not winning a game in the super 4s. They were fairly dependent on a few players and unlike Bangladesh, were not displaying total team effort.

4. Pakistan - Only 1 player, shows how poor the display from Pakistan was. Imam, Malik and Afridi were the only players of note throughout the tourney, and even then they did not the games by the scruff of the neck.

6) Muhammad Nabi - Afghanistan
7) Faheem Ashraf - Pakistan
8) Kuldeep Yadav - India
9) Rashid Khan - Afghanistan
10) Shaheen Shah Afridi - Pakistan
11) Jasprit Bumrah - India

I think this Asian XI can give tough fight to any team in the world any where in the world.

Extra seamer option with Faheem Ashraf. I would've opted for Pandya but he got injured.

Two good fast bowlers specially with His yorkers Jasprit Bumrah.

Batting is really capable of giving good scores with Muhammad Nabi at no.6 with explosive openers and more than capable middle order.

Spin department is really strong with two skillful spinners and Muhammad Nabi can also bowl few overs.

1.Rohit sharman
2.Shikhar dhawan
3.Babar azam(I know he failed but i can not think of any good 3 number batsman from all the teams!)
4.shoaib malik
5.mushfiqur rahim(wk)
6.Asif ali
7.Mohammad nabi
8.rashid khan
9.junaid khan
10.jasprit bumrah
11.Shaheen shah afridi

12th man Imam ul haq

I have selected the team only from the squads which were part of this asia cup!

Barring couple none of of the posters have chosen any Sri Lankan in their XI
From producing world class players like De Silva,Jayasuriya,Murali,Vaas,Mahela,Sanga,Malinga to a stage where even Afg & BD have better players than them just shows the downfall of SL cricket

I just want to know how did it feel to not select a Pakistani in the 5 man bowling attack?

Even as an Indian I am somewhat disturbed to see this.

At peak you could probably have 4 Pakistani bowlers at least.

No he wasn't. So many catches were dropped off Shaheen's bowling.

Disagree. It is wickets and performance that should count. He performed brilliantly in 3 matches. Consecutively in virtual SF and Final. He also had catches dropped as well. Took imp wickets also.

I think most of them here including me have chosen this team on the basis of their performance in this Asia Cup otherwise you won't see Jadhav and Nabi there.

Okay.

So how many Sri Lankans will you have in your Asian XI if you have to select the team on the basis of their performance in recent times(not Just Asia Cup)

Ryan

Based on overall I'd have this team:

Rohit
Dhawan
Kohli
Mushfiqur (keeper)
Malik
Shakib
Thisara
Rashid
Chahal
Bumra
Hassan

On the bench I'll have Nabi, BK, Fizz and Tamim.

Thisara for me gets in because he is farby one of the ideal batsman to slog at the death and his bowling is decent enough especially at the death.

So just 1 SL in the XI
Even he is average and his place is also debatable

That was the point I was trying to make that SL cricket hasn't been able to find replacement of their star players

Well it is my personal opinion. I am taking everything into consideration. Dropped catches, fitness, performance, height and speed.

Rohit *
Dhawan
Rayudu
Mushfiqur +
Malik
Nabi
Jadeja
Rashid
Bhuvi
Kuldeep
Bumrah
Mustafuzur (12th man)

I picked the squad purely on the basis of their performance in the Asia Cup 2018

In that case you should dock points off Shaheen for his poor ground fielding and the catch he dropped as well.

And height? You're joking, right?

The Asia Cup changes nothing at all. An all-Asian squad would be:

1) Rohit Sharma
2) Babar Azam
3) Virat Kohli (c)
4) Mushfiqur Rahim (wk)
5) Shoaib Malik
6) Angelo Matthews
7) Shakib al Hasan
8) Rashid Khan
9) Bumrah
10) Hasan Ali
11) Mohammad Shami

12) Shikar Dhawan
13) Mohammad Amir
14) Mustafizur Rahman
15) Shadab Khan
16) Kuldeep Yadav

Six Indians, five Pakistanis, three Bangladeshis and one representative from both Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. Reflective of the hierarchy and relative strength of each team.

Disclaimer: This post was constructed by someone who realizes that Pakistan played poorly during the Asia Cup but are not a poor team. Angry replies from wrist-slitting, knee-jerk fans are not welcome.

No. I am not joking.

How exactly do you give someone credit for their height?

How does height make someone more worthy of being in the XI?

Are you then also of the notion that Mohd Irfan should be the first name on every Pakistani team sheet?

You are trying too hard to argue in this simple thread therefore you are not making any sense. OP just asked everyone to list their XI and I have already told its my personal opinion. I have taken into consideration everything including height. But you are only highlighting height here as if its the only factor. Not my fault if you don't know height helps a bowler in generating bounce too.

Anyway I am not sure why me picking shaheen over mustafizz is hurting you? I don't see you questioning others eleven who have included Shaheen over Mustafiz?

Dhawan is way better than Babar Azam and a specialist opener. Don't know why Matthews is there either.

No he wasn't. So many catches were dropped off Shaheen's bowling.

Well said. Also with Fizz's reliance on cutters/slower balls + lack of height he'll get shown up on faster pitches.

Fizz is a slightly superior version to Rumman Raees.

I don't mind you or anyone else picking SSA over Fizz. Like you said, it's a matter of personal opinion and everyone is entitled to their own.

I just thought your "criteria" of height was weird because it has no relevance to actual performance.

It is what it is. Have to call it as I see it. Shaheen for me was very close to making the 11 and who knows had Junaid played he might have had good figures too.

Even Shoaib Malik selection was hard as I am not a fan of his but he was one of the few batsmen who did something in the tournament.
