Why is it so easy to teach people to hate others?

I am just wondering if humans are a hateful species because its so easy to incite them to hate someone else!

Are we so gullible?

Is this a problem with the older people Or is the newer generation less likely to be driven to hating others?

I would have thought that in today's internet world, we have a better chance of making informed opinions?

The internet also provides more opportunity to fan hateful opinions. Hatred sells, you only have to see the success of tabloid newspapers to see why the media goes down that route.

Quite the opposite actually, in today's internet world we have even worse chance of making informed opinions than before due to an exponential increase misinformation

This is true. Previously opinions were based on well researched articles or books which were published by respectable authors who provided credible sources and references. These days it's all too easy to print half truths taken out of all context, and downright lies if it's presented convincingly enough. The average person isn't that well informed to tell the difference.

Humans are taught their way of life/ religion/ culture/ skin color/ opinion is the best or the one that matters and when another person from a different background challenges this belief then it leads to hatred. Take Muslims for example from a young age they are told "Islam is the one true religion" and this causes them to be disrespectful of all other religions.

if we pay little attention we would "discover" that we are basically animals so we should not surprise if animals behave like animals.

You always have to keep in the back of your mind that an idea like peace is the big picture. If you lose sight of that, then you are prone to making irrational statements that have the potential rile up others.

Human beings have the gift of reason and free will, these two alone distinguish them from all other living things, who function by virtue of instinct.

If people reduce themselves to animal status, then they are actually worse, because not only will they find justification to perpetrate injustices, they will behave aggressively, violently and, thus, end up killing other human beings, creatures, for no reason other than they want to.

Animals only kill for food or self-defence. Human beings may kill for the same reasons, but many more will kill because their perverted beliefs give them the permission to.

Most Muslims are illiterate about Islam, they adhere to hearsay and follow - not the Prophet Muhammad, or the Messengers (pbut) who preceded him - sects, scholars and schools of thought.

If Muslims were intellectually curious and active - the way the great scholars, academics, scientists, historians, chemists, physicists, biologists, writers, philosophers, writers, thinkers and wise sages were - they would study the Qur'an for themselves. In so doing, they would realise that Islam is not only a religion, a set of precepts and principles the means by which the faithful live their lives, it is also a system and process, or method, the means by which every single thing in the known and unknown realms submits to the Will of Allah SwT, in reality and in practice, this means that everything is subject to the natural laws He instituted, and which govern the entirety of Space and Time.

It is only easy to teach people to hate if they are predisposed to. Hatred of other nationalities, ethnic or religious groups, colour of skin and so on, is founded upon ignorance. Had Allah SwT not loved diversity of form, shape and colour, everything would be exactly like, or very similar to, everything else. Hatred of other human beings is, in effect, hatred of difference - in appearance, thought or belief.

- most expert agree that free will is just an illusion. This can be verified by very simple tests. Like unless it's scripted, we do not even know what we are going to say next.
- Concept of "gift" is rooted in ignorance. In certain memory tests, Champs score 90%+, while human score barely 10%.
- just like humans, animals do kill for other reasons.

If you did not possess free will, you could not have written the above: no-one forced or compelled you, nor did anyone hold a gun to your head threatening your life if you refused to comply with his wishes.

As for chimps and the rest: when an 'expert' or scientist emerges from the animal kingdom, talk to me then, because your post is, with respect, full of assumed facts and beliefs.

Listen, if you think you are an animal, then I will not respond to you, because we are operating on entirely different intellectual planes. I am happy to be a human(e) being. Peace!

whatever you call yourself you are still an animal.
Maybe you have not noticed, animals do act and same forces are at play when humans act...nothing different.

having a will and having a free will ...two different things...

I think hatred is a natural emotion and probably stronger than love. I had to teach myself to love, but hatred came naturally.

More broadly, emotion is an irrational thought process, most of the love, hate emotions are not based on reason or evidence as much as they are based on fear and survival...Whole purpose of advertisement, politics, faith is to focus on emotions rather than rational neurons...This has to do with how we evolve, emotion played important role in our biological evolution than rational thinking, that came very late in the game, frankly by accident...

Many religious people say, God has given us gift of free will and a thinking brain, but religion is all about throwing both of those ideas under the bus...That is also easier thing to do, doing one thing instead of two...Nature always follows path of least resistance, water flows down the river, current flow the path of least resistance, junk food, fake news are easy more popular than more complex food or content, where you actually have to digest it...There will always going to be very few Scientist and Artist, because that's not nature to human beings ;-)

Hate is often linked with anger and jealousy the primitive parts of our brain. It is extra hard to remain rational and logical and as humans its a lot easier for us to express our primitive emotions. Its easy during times of hardship and strife rather than explain the complexities behind lets say an economic downturn its a lot easier to say its foreigners or aliens or infidels who are to blame for all your woes. They are why u guys are suffering. These tactics have been used by leaders the world over to gain and preserve their power and always seems to work. Even in the most developed countries like the U.S and U.K.

Most people want simple answers for problems. Fuelling hate is a very easy thing to do.

environment u grow up in plays a part too if u are grown up being told your race your ethnic group your religious group is the most superior and the best.

then that can very easily manifest itself into more extreme forms of hatred.

If u tell people from a young age all of u are equal as humams whatever u believe or your background. People are more likely to internalise that message. Its why for all their issues western countries are the best to live in because that is a message that u learn from school onwards. That bigotry isnt acceptable

Thank you Dr Spock. If only people could learn to put rationale above emotion we could make the world a much more dull and enlightened place.

Its easy for one to deal with anything bad happening in / around you if SOMEBODY ELSE can be made out as a reason for it .

So hate comes naturally to us, maybe its our "coping mechanism" ..

You know those people that blame everything on others instead of accepting their faults ? These are the people that are more likely to develop hate. Their life is miserable, they are not happy where they are and they want someone to blame for their mess. Most won't even know why they are doing it.
