Would you rather have England or Pakistan in the semi finals?

Mostly intended to Indians, but would like what neutrals think too.

As an Indian i actually would like to have Pakistan in the semis rather than England.

I won’t feel shame in losing to Pakistan but a match with them in the KOs would be huge and i also fancy our chances against them more.

Alain Pakistan are an exciting cricket team/nation to have in the semis.

England could go either way. They might embarrassingly now out or might decimate their opponents.

England have been playing better cricket consistently , they have some exciting stroke makers and have an excellent attack would go down fighting too. Pakistan are too inconsistent and only have one or two exciting batsmen at most. Anything over 270 for them to chase they will crumble easily....then there is the dropping of at least one catch per match, similar to how bangala let their last match slip through Tamim fingers.
 
Pakistan. Simply because i want my nation to win the WC.

England does deserve a semi final spot more than us tho. But then again, this is cricket and it favours the fortunate.

I would like Pakistani team as opponent.
We saw how England bowled with plan, and how well they field. Made 338 look like 350. Scared of facing England again.

Pakistan would be much more easy for India. They have a unidimensional approach, compared to England.
 
If Pakistan decimate Bangladesh and establish their dominance in their last game, then I would like them in the semis.

Else England
 
I'd have had Bangladesh in the semis. Showed terrific composure chasing a daunting total against a good bowling attack. They were plain unlucky, else they could have easily one 2 games more.
 
Whoever plays better will make it. If England lose today they do not deserve to be in the semis. If we win against Bangladesh, we would have won 5 of the 8 played which is hardly bad for the 4th spot. Even then we'll be going against the toughest side in the tournament.
 
Deep down these Indians are afraid of Pakistan. They are just trying to put a brave face here

The CT 2017 final still haunts them when we trashed them
 
Pakistan anyday...

England are hard to defeat in conditions suited to them...while Pakistan undeniably have a mental block against Indians in World Cups...I am sure Indians would rather face Pakistan..
 
Both. New Zealand deserves to go home. They got a lucky point against India which is why they’ll make it to semis instead of Pak.

Pakistan's loss against West Indies cost them dearly...even Bangladesh gave West Indies a thrashing..
 
Also, Afghanisthan match was a missed opportunity for Pakistan to gain on their NRR by chasing down the runs within 35-40 overs...
 
Wrong question...

The team anyone would want to face is New Zealand. They are comfortably the worst team due to qualify.
 
Out of Pakistan and England, I will choose England 10/10 times. In knock outs, Pakistan can make anything happen.

England is predictable. We know how they think, how they approach.

In case of Pakistan, I am not sure even Pakistanis know what the approach will be. People may laugh but if there are two quick wickets down for india, Pakistan will bring the killer instinct. India can get away with England but not against Pakistan.

Pakistan has the X factor for which I will always try to avoid them in sf or final if possible.

oh India can get away better with Pakistan than England. Remember the 2011 WC. Any other team would have chased that.

I'll rather prefer facing a strong enemy whom I know well than venturing in a territory where anything can happen. At least in the first case, I will have an idea about what is coming on to me.

India has never lost to Pakistan in a WC knockout, having won at least 2 (1996 & 2011) and won both. On the other hand, England did win the SF against India in 1987.

If England win this and Pakistan beat Bangladesh, both NZ and Pakistan will have 11 points and NRR will come into play. Pakistan can make it but they'll really have to give BD a hiding of a lifetime to get above NZ's NRR.
 
Pakistan - India thrashed them without Bhuvi and Shami. Now imagine attacking them with in-form Shami, Bhuvi and Bumrah. Haha!
 
Who would not like to play NZ in semi? The shame of it is that Pakistan is going out and this joker of a team is going into semis
 
In regards to the question by OP I would like to play neither as Eng is very strong and Pak can bring their A game meaning lights out for any team.
 
It is good that england is here. finally with plunkett in the team and roy, they are unstoppable again. I want england to knock indian fans back to the ground. I hope it is aus vs nz and india vs england. england should bat first and annihilate india. I like the indian team but the fans are obnoxious. same for bangladesh, Pak should crush them bc these fans are so annoying in daily life.
