Zayed Stadium Curator passes away ahead of Afghanistan versus New Zealand match

Mohan Singh, the Pitch curator of Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium Abu Dhabi has been found dead on Sunday, local media reported Sunday.

He had made the pitch of the ongoing match between New Zealand and Afghanistan.

The cause of death is not yet known, but it has led to an investigation by the local police.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that Singh has allegedly committed suicide.

Pakistan, India, Australia, England South Africa, Sri Lanka and the West Indies have all used wickets in Mohan Singh’s works.

He joined the stadium in September 2004. He was trained by a curator at the Punjab Cricket Ground in Mohali, India.

The deceased has been employed there since 1994, first as a ground supervisor and assisting the coaches with Multiple sports, including tennis and swimming before his attention shifts to cricket.

The International Cricket Council has sent its condolences to the family of Mohan Singh, the curator at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi who passed away earlier today.

At the request of Abu Dhabi Cricket, the ground staff and Mohan’s family, game between New Zealand and Afghanistan in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 went ahead.

An ICC spokesperson said: “We are deeply saddened and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends, Abu Dhabi Cricket and everyone connected with the event.”

probably is. look at the timing of the situation.

someone who looks in good health, and has been working for a decade in a stable manner suddenly dies the night before a crucial game for india?? Pakistan played most of their cricket in the last decade in UAE, and never heard of such a thing?

India needed afghanistan to win. maybe he refused to curate the pitch in afghanistan's favor and convert it into a dustbowl like many indian pitches. this would have favored afghanistan heavily since all three of their spinners were playing after mujeeb's miraculous recovery.

People dont understand, it is not about results of matches of india games. its also about the quantity of games india plays where the betting market is active. especially, if india had played namibia to qualify plus two additional knockout games - it would have been a huge source of bets and betting revenue, both on legal and underground channels.

maybe his 'suicide' attempt was actually murder...

i find the sequence of events very fishy. his death needs a full evaluation. where did 'depression' come out all of a sudden? and depression leading to suicide in this world cup? wow. seems very improbable for a naturally occurring medical event.

why would his family want the match to proceed despite the suicide? perhaps it was in defiance of what he was being pressured to do? if so, i commend the character of him and his family.

i am not a believer in conspiracy theories, but looking at some of the events in this world cup - and given recent ban of T10 UAE league due to corruption, i suspect a massive background mafia and match fixing industry in UAE. i suspect that just based on very fishy events.

i mean, did we even come close to talking about these things in champions trophy, or wc2015?
