LAHORE: Six people were killed while 73 others sustained injuries in a clash between the supporters of Dr Tahirul Qadri and police in Lahore, Express News reported on Tuesday.

The fight started last night when members of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) tried to stop police from removing hurdles outside their leader’s house in Lahore’s Model Town Colony. Police baton-charged and shelled the demonstrators for not letting them do their job.

Five of the protesters were arrested for creating trouble.

The injured were shifted to a hospital for medical assistance. According to hospital sources, the injured also include 14 police personnel.

As per previous court orders, blocking streets for security reason is not allowed and police should remove such blockages.

District Minister Rana Mashoud said the road blockages outside Qadri’s house were being removed on complaints filed by the residents of Model Town Colony.

Qadri, in his response to the injuries of his party workers, said he protests police brutality against the demonstrators.

Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, while speaking to the media in Lahore, said that the barriers outside Qadri’s house were removed after government received information about the presence of armed men in the area.

He added that the private militia had made it a no go area and no one in Punjab is allowed to do so.

According to reports 3 women killed

So the Noora brothers started slaughtering innocent men and women?!?!

This PMLN-sponsored terrorist act must be dealt with properly, PMLN government who authorized this must be held accountable for this murder.

They should have arrested people who were resisting, or used rubber bullets/tear gas. Instead of killing people. These people were not as threatening as Lal masjid people or taliban.

2ndly at this moment, When operation is in progress, we need unity, So Govt should have not done this.

Also if Govt wanted to remove barrier , they should also remove huge barrier that are closing roads near Shareef house in model town.

- Two policemen suspended for breaking two fruits from a tree within the Raiwind Compound and for eating it.
- Nawaz Sharif puts Islamabad under military control (Military effectively in control on Federal capital)
- Shahbaz Sharif made a request for military protection for himself and his family (Sharif family being placed under House-Arrest?)
- 7 PAT workers killed by Punjab Police for exercising their right to protest.
- Shahbaz Sharif has said that he had no knowledge of the Police operation taking place against PAT compound.

I detest everyone who voted for PML-N and those who continue to support this party - This party and its supporters are the biggest threat to Pakistan.

barbaric and shameful stuff from the police, gave TuQ and his stooges the perfect excuse to cry foul and create a mess.

things should have never gotten so out of hand, even if the protesters were there to cause damage.

What else can you expect from this Noora controlled police? Absolutely pathetic stuff.

That is rich coming from a guy that supports a party of crooks, A party set-up to economically rape the poor and who are now kaking bricks over this entirely avoidable incident.

Yes that tweet, Shame on TUQ. They sacrifice, and you enjoy yourself in a AC and their sacrifice.

don't trust maulana sahib. What is he trying to achieve? all substance and bluster. Also what right does he have to erect barriers in Lahore? is he trying to become the altaf hussein of Lahore?

on the other side have the police still not learnt their lessons? this also shows the complete lack of reform centric policies in Punjab.

AZ that image that you posted. Unfortunately that tweet cannot be found on his twitter page. It is most likely fabricated. The background image is not used by Qadri's official twitter page either. More PMLN Propaganda.

Shouldn't TuQ lead by example and respect the law in the first place?

Why erect illegal barriers on the govt's property when the law prohibits it?

He is or was a Canadian citizen, right? I bet he would not have had the balls to do such an act around his residence in Canada.

Lekin you know, ye Pakistan hai, Issi ki maa bhen aik karo - aur bahir Kay countries Mein jaa kar bheegi billi ban jao.

In my opinion, he is responsible for the lost lives, and will have to answer in the court of Allah.

Listen to his interview with arynews from yesterday then you will know what right does he have.

He was granted permission by Punjab government in 2011.

In April 2014 the LHC held that the barriers should be removed as they caused inconvenience to other residents (Obviously we all know on whose orders this decision was made - LHC does not see barriers in other parts of the city)

Now the government should have implemented the order in April but they didn't. So one should ask as to how did the Punjab police decided that today was the day to implement this order.

Army operation in North Waziristan, Islamabad under military control, Riots in Lahore, Killings in Karachi! - the Federal government has lost all control!

a sacrifice planned more than half a day ago, and executed 6-8 hours later.

If the tweet is not fabricated, then how do you know the time is PST?

Regardless of our views of Qadri, if Police has indeed killed the workers then blame goes to Punjab gov.
As for barriers, he is not the first one to do so, Ganja brothers have erected barriers around their home in model town. And then there is raiwind...

Now I expect AZ to not comment anymore after his Noora propaganda was exposed.

why would anyone fabricate the replies too? it was the same background, they changed it.

because this was posted just an hour or so ago.

Now he is should comeback and take revenge, killing people for just protecting his house, unbelievable.

So this means Qadri was aware that police is coming to his house so his followers were ready to defend. Anyway this is nothing new in Pakistani politics but in any case police and punjab gov should be held responsible for killing people.

Qadri had women forming human chains around his house, and a team of pvt security armed to the teeth.

Weapons and ammo were recovered from the PAT Secretariat office.

CM Punjab has put himself up for investigation and offered to resign if found culpable, let's see who is and isn't responsible.

Lets hope he resigns, can't even do anything properly.

One point we all will agree on is that compared to PMLN, Zardari's gov has always been peaceful in these type of situations. Kind of "don't care" attitude and always coming up with diplomacy against their opponents. Compare the TuQ handling in both govs.

These were completely unavoidable deaths. If Shahbaz Sharif has a shred of integrity then he should resign.

1 and 3 are blatant lies...I know lying is part and parcel of supporting PTI but please stop spouting rubbish.

Vegitto forgot to mention those policemen suspended when a cat eat a peacock at PM's residence.

lets call a spade a spade AZ.. TUQ is wrong for putting up those barricades when not even living there but shouldnt they also go from all other VIP residence.. that includes ruling family too and all others in other provinces.

not a fan of tuq..he used innocent people last time in winter and this using them in summer whilst this time he may have an container with aircon.. he would have served great purpose to advocate opposition to terrorism for which he had done that massive fatwa.. sadly fell into a dream about ruling and changing the country when he's no Khomenie. the country doesnt need trouble at this time when there are fighting going on in diff parts of country on diff fronts.

sad loss of lives, no person should have to go this way. one does hope justice is served but who are we kidding.

These scenes from today's clash won't go well for SS and police if a real investigation is done!

People damaging the properties of others deserve a long time in jail or should be made to pay damages. Why does the police just stand, don't they arrest people because I think there are enough witnesses there to prove his crime.

Gullu Butt was given the task of assassinating TUQ's son last night. Dr. Shahid Masood on his show.

TUQ before today was nothing more than political nuisance, his only usefulness was that his strong street following of relatively peaceful "brelviness" could be used as a deterrence to militant extremism(a peaceful alternative for religious conservative masses that can be made liberal overnight).

But this incident is a massive blot on civilian govts history only precedents can be found in dictatorships.

Shahbaz no matter how good is for development and very good administrator is in past notorious for his Punjab Police extra judicial killing hopefully this incident is not manifestation of that past and finally

Punjab Puls is worst form of Punjabi Sultan Rahiyat., badmash.

Wow. AZ sahib still defending Noora League.

Are you paid by Nooras ?

They are always ready for a judicial inquiry. :)))

This was meant to give PAT a signal of N league's power but unfortunately Nooras did not know that these Qadiri's followers are actually much more than workers.

N league miscalculated the response from Qadiri's followers.

Beghairat leaders of a nation that kills in the name of honour . Nothing , that happens in Pakistan , surprises me anymore nor do I feel sorry for the people there , in general .

Who is this gullu butt?
http://tribune.com.pk/story/723500/caught-on-tape-vandal-in-chief-is-pml-n-worker/

Caught on tape: Vandal-in-chief is ‘PML-N worker’

LAHORE: A police ‘tout’ Gullu Butt, who smashed windscreens and windows of vehicles outside the Minhajul Quran International Secretariat in the presence of the SP Model Town-led police contingent, is said to be an active member of the ruling PML-N.

Television footage shows Gullu brought to the scene on a motorcycle. He was brandishing a club and chanting slogans.

When the melee broke out, he started smashing windscreens and windows of private vehicles with his club. No police official tried to stop him and the vandalism continued unabated.

Gullu Butt, who is said to be a resident of Faisal Town, is a police tout. It is learnt that a VIP calls him Sher-e-Punjab (Lion of Punjab). Gullu supplied water and cold drinks to the police officials throughout the operation.

However, he quickly disappeared after the operation, triggering suspicion that some police officers might have advised him to slip away lest the game was spoilt. However, since he has been caught on tape vandalising vehicles, all police officers pretend they don’t know him.

CCPO Lahore Chaudhry Shafiq Ahmed has ordered the arrest of the person who vandalised vehicles – but he couldn’t be arrested till the filing of this report.

Shameful. As much as I am against Qadri, this kind of stuff is not on. But then, it is nooras we are talking about. And they are used to doing such things.

A leading PMLN worker is video taped as being part of this, and yet, noora supporters still cant accept what kind of people their so called leaders are. And Maryam Nawaz saying that foreign elements are involved in this incident. So now punjab police are foriegn elements? Weren't there nooras on this forum praising how good and professional Lahore police is? Humble pie?

Shame on people still defending them. And :)) at Shahbaz Sharif resigning if he is found culpable. How stupid are noora supporters really?

This reminds me of Jallianwala Bagh!

Thank God PMLN has failed to pass Pakistan Protection Ordinance aka "Rowlatt Act". Rowlattt Act was a simliar law to proposed Pakistan Protection ordinance. Rowlatt Act was passed by the british Raj to crush the rebellion in India.

LOL @ Khawaja still defending the Nooras. Sharam Tou Tum ko Magar Nai Aati

Beating women and old helpless men and killing 6 of them on dispute over removing barrier and this done by state police.

Worst part is that I am not even shocked NS did learned well from Zia.

I am more shocked at the timing of this dispute when countries Army went to war against Talibans they decided to start this mess in Lahore I can feel the end is near.

This is so awful. Shameful stuff from PMLN govt in Punjab. You dont god damn kill your people like that. 6 people killed for removing a barricade? How inhuman. What is wrong with people. :(

^ NS didnt learn from zia? NS learned everything from zia. The guy has a dictatorial mindset. Too many incidents to prove it.

Mush should have hanged him when he had the chance

Rana Sanaullah, who pals around with Janghvi terrorists needs to be held accountable for this.

This is utterly disgraceful, even by PMLN standards

If shabaz had any respect he'd resign immediately..but heck, what am I saying...respect and a sharif brother in the same sentence

lol @ Insafians demanding CM Punjab's resignation.

heard no such clamour for Pervez Khattak's head after the DI Khan jailbreak....gotta love the hypocrisy.

at least Shahbaz Sharif has brought himself forward for accountability, unlike the afore-mentioned and of course the walking zombie Qaim Ali Shah in Sindh.

So what each and every Political leader has private security, and barricades are common, they may be illegal but that in no way justifies the cruel steps taken by Police along with PML-N jiyalas like Gullu Butt #Shame

Two instances are distintctly different, DI JAil break was a terrorist attack which could have been prevented but Terrorists didnt work under PTI govt. , on the other hand this act of state terrorism was committed by Punjab Police which is directly under Punjab Govt.

Sir, aap k dimaagh ko 21 toapon ki salaami #Respect

Just because you're one hell of a genius, I'll try to make it a little easy for you:

Taliban don't take Pervaiz Khattak's approval before an attack, but Punjab Police does take Khawaja Shehbaz's approval even before itching their ***

I saw the images of police brutality against the citizens, especially ladies and old men.

Very disturbing to say the least. No one deserves such inhumane beating. I could post them here but i dont want to ruin day of people visiting this thread. Hope sanity prevails.

Battered and bruised, they turn to Jinnah

LAHORE: Moving scenes were witnessed at Jinnah Hospital on Tuesday which attended more than 90 injured, including 24 policemen, in the wake of a clash at the Minhajul Quran secretariat in Model Town.

Many of those rushed to the hospital had serious injuries, some treated for fractures in skull and other parts of the body. The hospital was deluged by men and women looking for relatives and friends.

Eyewitnesses told Dawn they had been subjected to extreme police brutality that had no example in the history. “They spared no one; men, women and children were all their target,” said Ghulam Mustafa, who lost a brother, Ghulam Rasool, in the police firing at the Minhaj.

“The atrocity can’t be explained in words.”

He said his brother was hit in the chest by a bullet fired by a policeman and died on the spot.

Some women were seen standing in shock near the body of 14-year-old Mohammad Umar in the emergency hall of the hospital. Umar was hit by two bullets and died instantly.
Moving scenes as hospital receives the dead and injured of Model Town incident

An official of the hospital administration said more than 50 patients shifted to Jinnah Hospital had sustained firearm injuries. He said seven people were received dead at the emergency and the cause of death in all these cases was firearm injuries followed by massive bleeding.

The official said that of the total 24 injured policemen who were brought to the hospital two had suffered bullet wounds.

He said more than 20 out of the total injured people were in a critical condition and shifted to the Intensive Care Units (ICUs) or operation theatres.

After the incident, the hospital was thronged by PAT supporters from Lahore and adjacent areas. Some of them continuously chanted slogans against the Punjab chief minister, the law minister and police.

A young woman named Sadaf told Dawn her cousin, Shazia, and sister-in-law Tanzila had been shot dead in the incident and she was an eyewitness to their “murder”.

According to Sadaf, she had accompanied Tanzila, her husband, Shazia and a few others, from Shalimar Town to the Minhaj premises after they learnt about the raid on Tuesday morning. Tanzila and Shazia were protesting outside the residence of Dr Tahirul Qadri when they were “targeted by the police”. “Policemen sprayed them with bullets from a close range,” she said.

“I lost my senses for a while as I saw bullets striking them,” Sadaf said.

“Shazia died on the spot because of massive bleeding while Tanzila succumbed to her wounds later. The policemen did not spare even the dying women. Two policemen rushed towards them and bundled them into an official van.”

Sadaf said the policemen had arrested her brother and she was worried about his safety.

Tanzila’s husband Ghulam Mustafa said the protest against the removal of barriers was going on peacefully when the police personnel suddenly advanced and fired tear gas shells in an attempt to disperse the crowd.

The police then retreated, only to recharge at the protesters a little while later. As the protesters pelted stones, the law enforcers replied by firing indiscriminately at the crowd.

PAT Lahore Secretary-General Sultan Mahmood Chuadhry, who was among the injured and admitted to Jinnah Hospital, told Dawn he was hit with the butts of the gun when he tried to rescue two co-workers.

Junaid, who received bullet injuries, said the policemen wanted to enter the Minhajul Quran students’ hostel. “When we resisted, they fired upon us.”

Haroon Ahmad, a civil engineer, said bullets hit him in both his legs as he tried to stop the police’s ransacking of the house of Dr Qadri.

Haroon’s mother Kalsoom said: “We have been attacked because we want to change the system.”

Amjad Iqbal, being treated at the hospital for bullet wounds, said: “We came out for the rights of people of Pakistan. We will fight against the system with all that we have.”

^ This is not good at all. I am still confused to what led this incident in the first place. May Allah (SWT) have mercy on those who are affected, and grants those in Jannah who are killed, Aameen!

I have just seen the videos and this guy Butt was leading the Police, he also clearly vandalised a car as the Police stood by, please explain how a law enforcement agency can stand by while the law is broken? If you ever needed evidence that the Lahore Police are just PML thugs, then you have it for posterity. Pathetic apologists for murder like you and the PML have no place in a democratic society.

One thing is clear, to keep peace in Pakistan awaam also need to do their job and keep this thug government in check. What kind of democracy beat people up like this and lets not talk about the deaths, its just too much.

Tribunal to determine those responsible for Lahore tragedy: PM

ISLAMBAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, while expressing grief and sorrow over the Lahore tragedy, assured that legal action would be taken in the light of the Lahore High Court’s tribunal findings against those responsible for this incident.

"Tribunal under a high court judge has already been set up to determine those responsible for the incident," Sharif said in a statement issued from Dushanbe where he is on a two-day state visit.

However, the premier also warned that no one would be allowed to put the internal security and peace of the country at stake. He said those responsible for the loss of precious lives could not escape punishment and added that no one could disrupt the law and order situation of the country.

"Pakistan is, at present, fighting two wars. On one hand, our armed forces are fighting the menace of terrorism and on the other hand, we are putting the collapsed economy back on track," PM Sharif said.

Members of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) were among the seven people killed during a clash between PAT protesters and policemen in Lahore on Tuesday.

I actually respect AZ in a way..the fact that he can defend PMLN time and time again, astounds me

Carry on mate. The truth will come out in the end INSHALLAH !

who fired at the police? I thought these were "peaceful" and innocent protestors.

no idea who the hell this Gullu Butt clown has but his actions are there for all to see...apparently he has been arrested already.

I have already stated that what the Punjab Police did was completely out of order and barbaric, I am also quite sure that they were attacked and fired at first...and yes let the truth come out, we should know who instigated this and let it build up to such tragic circumstances.

Lahore clashes: Police tamper with medical reports of injured

LAHORE: Lahore police and Establishment Division officers have tampered with the medical reports of those injured in clashes between Qadri supporters and police on June 17, Express News reported on Wednesday.

According to sources, doctors are being pressurised to change the medical reports of those with bullet injuries to those of physical violence.

An officer of the Establishment Division from Islamabad arrived in Lahore today and was seen pressurizing the medical superintendent of Jinnah Hospital to change the reports of those admitted after the clashes erupted.

The Establishment Division official said that he was visiting a patient. However, along with DSP Aftab and suspended SP Model Town division Tariq Aziz, he had taken over the medical superintendent’s office.

Doctors, requesting anonymity, confirmed to Express News that they were asked by police to add names of police personnel injured in the incident as well. However, they said there was no police personnel currently admitted in the hospital, as they had been discharged at night.

Furthermore, police stopped doctors from treating the 51 injured and did not allow them to take their rounds in the ward.

Government stance

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif while taking notice of this incident asked health secretary and police officials for a report on the alleged tampering.

Speaking to Express News, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said records of the injured cannot be tampered with and police went to collect the records as evidence for the case.

He further added that Gullu Butt, who is responsible for smashing windscreens and windows of vehicles during the clash, is not a member of the Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) as claimed.

i bet you are

The CM spends his life taking notices of "incidents ", isnt this a euphemism for let the incident die down and we will quietly push it under the carpet. Remember last year when the bakery worker was slapped by the body guards of the daughter of one of these 2 crooks and the CM took notice-do we know what came of it, what about the Noora MPA slapping a doctor- didn`t the CM take notice of the incident to and what came of that, yes you have guessed it, bugger all.

Perhaps he is right, the Punjab Police and the Taliban are on a par- one are a murderous bunch of thugs who kill innocent people and then we have the Taliban who do exactly the same thing.
