1st Test - England v India, Lord's

Still not a single bouncer in about 2 hours of play! Unbelievable stuff!
Zaheer did one bouncer in his first spell and Cook pulled it away for 4. The bowlers arent quick enough, the pitch isnt bouncy/quick enough. All that will happen is it'll get put away for runs.

Strauss dropped! A dolly of a catch dropped by the man at backward point. Karthik the culprit. That's a shocking drop. Strauss just lobbed it up in the air at a nice height and it went straight through the hands.

115/1 at Lunch. Good session for England.

Strauss 43*, Vaughan 23*

We are 115 for 1 at lunch!

Great start. We have the platform here now for a big score. The injuries in the bowling mean we need to get 450 or so here to be in a winning position.

That drop catch by Karthik was jokes. Too much butter naan in the morning, I guess.. :)))

It's the mango season isn't it?

There is officially a worse bowling attack than our own - India's bowling attack. Anything less than 450 at this point would be unacceptable. The inexperienced England attack may perform better than expected as they are an unknown quantity, and India's batting isn't that good anyway.

I bet this will be a boring series though. Barely any half decent bowlers at all.

Not watching it, seems like Sreesanth came back well after the initial pounding.

Is Yuvraj not playing? Awful. He is one of the best players.

Far out, India taking of where Pak left off in ENG, sloppy field placements, fielding, dropped catches, wait a go boys you have done us proud :14: . I really have to now appreciate the effort of Mohammed Asif, I mean the dude came in with no match practice and terrorised ENG.

what a let off for Strauss that was an awful miss by Dinesh Karthik.

Yup he's a gun :)

Sky's lunchtime entertainment - Ask any question to Bumble or Beefy

Question - What should be done to make sure captains bowl 15 overs an hour
Bumble - If the teams do not bowl 15 overs an hour then the captain should be banned for the next match. That would make sure the captain gets the speed of overs up and get in 15 an hour. Although i bet Inzi would have made sure the over rate slowed down to get the next game off when he was captain.

:)))

Harsh IMO.

some "interesting" fist jestures from sreesanth on his way to the bolwing mark. Not sure they are appropriate before the 9pm watershed

If England lose another two wickets after lunch i reckon England will be all out for about 300 runs.

Last 6 overs by sreesanth - all of them being maidens ... He has settled into good rhythm ... Hope he gets a few scalps though !

attempted short ball by RPS. Dispatched to the deep sq. leg boundary in style.

Cover drive for 4 by Strauss, his best shot of the day. Brings up the 50 partnership too.

50 for Andrew Strauss. Not a solid innings really but a gritty one to get himself back into form.

hmmm...not much juice left in the medium pacers . this wicket is not gonna help Zaheer, chaveesanth or RDP ...kumble rarely troubles anyone outside bangalore..so.....lets get the main strike weapons out ....yess its messers. Tendulkar & ganguly ..they should be able to take atleast a couple between each of them by tea by constipating the batsmen through sheer boredom of wibbly wobbly & dobbly from both ends.

Unless........Chaveesanth does a vodoo bum gyrating mujra [dance] at deep mid on !! ...not exactly apleasing thought on a mild mid-summer afternoon at Lords

155/1. England cruising along with no problems.

Expect England to reach 300-400 by end of the day, Chavreenath has just shown that he is the king of all chavs and wont be bought back into the bowling setup unless he does a bhangra dance on the fall of Vaughan's wicket when he has made 150.

england batting superbly and india bowling not been good at all....but if we can pick up a couple of wickets we're still in it! go india!

Quite a decent showing by England. Man, India have really low quality bowlers.

Sreesanth, Zaheer, RP compared to Akhtar, Asif, Gul = :)))

Oi Dravid ............Bring on Tendulkar from the Nursery end .Yaar....im sitting infront of telly waiting for him to bowl ...He's your main strike bowler in such times

Spare a thought for poor Bhajji [ Harbhajan] ...his ommission from the current tour looks already to be a massive own goal for the indians.

and Kojakwag, who is probably sitting at home thinking I would love to blast the english bowlers all over the park, if I was given a chance!

thats it england - keep the foot to the throat - 83 run partnership so far

:)) :)) :)) LOL

46.2 Khan to Strauss, FOUR, bang, thats four! Zaheer pitches fractionally short, 80mph, and Strauss hammers it away through midwicket, top shot!

:)) Gotta love the emphasis on the 80 mph...

Cover drive for 4 by Vaughan and that's 50 for the skipper and the 100 partnership.

[Yawns].........just had weird dream taking a quick nap while england were tucking merrily into the pie throwers....it was Tendu ..he came over the wicket to straussy but the ball didnt come outta his hand..straussy looks miffed..complains to umpire that he's a test cricket player and not someone in bombay maidan who would fall for this trick...umpire looks at tendu quizzically..tendu replies [ in his squeaky chipmunk voice ] " solly umpire yaar..not my falt..that srisanth on mid on was doing a hip op dance ..i got distlacted "

Zaheer not having a good day at Lord's
52.4 Khan to Strauss, FOUR, short, wide, room on offer, cracked away for four...you get my drift, dont you?
52.3 Khan to Strauss, no run, good length delivery, he doesnt move his feet but drives to cover
England on top. India look pretty dejected out there.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

from cricinfo.......this just sums it up for me....i think i should go and do some gardening or something like that

This is why I'm really really glad we have a good if not great bowling attack and an average batting line-up that comes up good most of the time instead of a poor bowling attack that doesn't do anything but make up numbers and a legendary batting line-up that is past its best.

the problem with having a dominant batting is that once in a while it will fail..and that when youll lose as the bowling attack will be crap!!

I wouldnt call our batsman average in comparison to Indian batsman, I think our batsman are equally as good as or even better than the current Indian 'legendary' batsman.

Our batsman just dont 'fire' as much as the Indian batsman and dont have the superstar status that the indian batsman have.

england being professional as they ever are in home series

indai really have wasted teh best of teh conditions out there today

boys playing well, lets hope it continues and i hope the legendary petersen forces the pace when he comes to bat.

Why oh why? remember 450/0 against ur great bowling attack .So this is nothing for India's mediocre bowlers .

Those same bowlers who bowled us to a series victory in Karachi? :)

Well, if Cook ''pulled'' the delivery, then it's not a bouncer, its a short ball, or a ''long-hop''. A bouncer can't be pulled, it's hooked meaning that it's close to impossible to keep the ball down. A bouncer is usually head high or even above the head. Hence the bowlers should bowl more bouncers with 2 men in the deep hoping to induce a hook from the batsmen.

The same bowlers who thoroughly humiliated your batsmen in Karachi?

you said that sidharth. When did these so called great Pak bowlers won them matches outside PAk.one or two here and there.Even our bowlers have achieved the same

Shame. Could have been a really decent 100.

Comfertor strikes (kumble in urdu)

yes I agree....the Indians should bowl more bouncers....six after six after six.

i see the indian cricket disease of selective amnesia is alive and well...on average i do believe our bowling has troubled you more than youre batting has troubled us!

so predictions for overnight score? 390-3?

hahahaha...and the amnesia strikes again..how many years did it take for india to win a series abroad? and what were pakistan doing suring that same period? oh yeah winning series abroad consistently!!..

If ur bowlers were able to all out SA for 124 ,our military pacers did it for mere 84! :11:

There you go! First bouncer of the game! Well bowled too...
Kumble just got a wicket so he is pumped up. I just heard the ball spins away too

lol..yes miracles do happen now and then. not often in youre case though..

Pretty decent stuff from the English so far. They haven't at the most prizable rate but its good going.

If they can get 10 more overs in, they'll prolly finish at 260.

some guy on radio talking about cricket history. He went on to match fixing and ball tampering. Saying this is nothing new and going on for many decades - from early 1900s I am guessing as he gave some comment by some player who was born in 1890s??? and said it was going on when he played.

still rain

after a delay of 52 min the play has resumed. 2 overs bowled
Eng 237-2
radio guy asking Boycott are these the best bowlers India have got?

Bad light stops play again, personally the light didn't really look that bad.

Before the umpires met Boycott was saying that England should keep playing as they are in good position. After the light was accepted he didn't say anything.
Rejecting the light also means that if the team is in a bad position the light has to go worse before the light will get offered again.

Boycott also calling for 10 runs per over for slow overrate. fining the players $2000 makes not much difference to the players/team

play scheduled to resume in 8 min. Boycott still going after ICC not doing much with overrates, white balls etc and Gavaskar is sitting there.

What a shot by Pietersen, absolutely walloped through cover.

Vaughan out caught behind to RP singh coming around the wicket. Good innings of 79 though.

Vaughan gone. Slowish, but good to come back into form.

RP Singh got his wicket though, which is scaaaaaaaary.

Bell out on 0. LBW Kumble. Ball stayed straight (commentator) - It was the wrong one (Gavaskar)

end of day. bad light brings early close
Eng 268-4 after 81 overs
new ball not taken yet

good stuff guys! england dominated but now it's even...good fightback! Let's get Sidebottom out first thing and wipe out the tail tomorrow
