1st Test - England v India, Lord's

Bell out on 0. LBW Kumble. Ball stayed straight (commentator) - It was the wrong one (Gavaskar)
It was Collingwood who was out.

Anyway i'd say it's even for the day with those 2 late wickets. It's a belter of a pitch so 4 down with 268 on the board is decent going. I'd say minimum 400-450 is needed by England tomorrow. Pietersen looked well set and there is Bell and Prior to come so i'd expect us to get up there.

Nice sweep by India towards the end! Successive strikes.

So Strauss, Vaughan, Cook, and Collingwood gone. They're best and 3rd best batsman is still to come though. And they are also the most dangerous too, KP and Ian Bell.

And just like that its even again. India should be thanking their lucky stars because they bowled awfully but have somehow managed to even the game up. They actually have a chance to keep England to around 400-odd whereas half an hour ago 500 plus looked a certainty. Dravid should be a very happy man and England should be kicking themselves.

I must say that England were quite unlucky to have to go off and come back on so many times, but hey, that's test cricket.

Good comeback by India, hoping for a collapse early next morning.

England should still make about 450+ with FIGJAM at the crease.

from Cricinfo
I'm Jamie Alter, your commentator for the day, with the news that its very overcast and wet at the ground, so there's no chance of play any time soon.

Heavy rain fell on Thursday night and it is expected to continue throughout today. Add to that the report that storms are predicted later, and it doesnt make for pretty reading. Alot of the heavy rain has gone towards west London, towards the Midlands. The ground is pretty empty, allround gloomy scenes at Lord's.

The umpires, Simon Taufel and Steve Bucknor, were just walking out with their umbrellas, and returned shortly, not looking too impressed. We'll have to sit around and play the waiting game, I'm afraid.
looks like the whole day gonna wash out :( not a great news

The Pound, the Weather.... can someone please explain the benefits of visiting England ?

Shame we lost two late wickets yesterday but with the score at 268 for 4 and Pieterson still there (Bell and Prior still to come), 400-450 is well within reach.

The covers are now off and play should start in the next 20 mins or so.

LOL

KP walks after being caught, sees the replay, walks back to the middle, and hes given not out

bloody cheating Indians! Anyone watch Pietersens supposed dismisal? Just listening to it on the radio

It edges to Dhoni, KP walked immediately, Taufel put his finger up. But as KP was walking off, he saw the replay on big screen and went back to the middle. They referred it to 3rd umpire, and gave it not out.

Right decision, it didnt carry. Clearly hit the grass.

and it wasnt necessarily cheating on Indias part. it was a close call, but definitely not out.

Damn, KP gone for real this time. Zaheer gets the wicket, edged to Dhoni

KP wasn't out the first time but can you do that (walk back to the crease against umpire's decision)

now the real test starts for India, getting the last 4 wickets!!!! for us taking the last four wickets is harder than the firsts 6 :D

Pieterson looked all at sea during the brief time he's been facing Khan today, the game is pretty even now very good comeback by the Indians.

Big test for Matt Prior now.

Dont think he walked back ... The umpires probably saw the replay on the screen and noticed there was more to the catch than what caught the eye ... Thats what made them consult the third umpire ... Also, its well within the law to revert the decision earlier given by the umpire ..

218/1 to 287/8. Terrible show by England or wicket has changed after rain?

Wicket seems the same, its the new ball thats done all the damage.

We have screwed up a perfectly good start here.

Typical how the 'classic English luck' runs out against India of all teams.

where are those people who have been ridiculing Indian bowling attack since yesterday.8 wickets have gone under 300.I am sure nobody would be wanting to give any credit to INDIAN bowlers. It has to be pitch, the weather, non application from Eng batsman etc etc???

I agree, actually.

Superb bowling by Sree with the new ball ...

But HAVE TO SAY - what was the thinking behind giving a pump of the fist and a scream of shout at a tailender ?? There's a difference between aggression and stupidity ... The sooner he realizes, the better he will be recognized ...

The guy seams, swings at decent speeds just take off your biased tinted glasses.

He doesn't really seam or swing it that much. Nothing out of the ordinary....hence why he is average/ordinary. He just has a very high opinion of himself.

By the way, I don't wear glasses. I wear contact lenses though.

Have you ever seen him bowl, OK he may not seam it like Asif but his swing especially with the new ball is viscious.

lol..looks like england need to rememebr how to bat again..lol..
but i do believe we have a match on our hands now especially if the ball nips about...wouldnt be surprised to see India lose a few before someone sticks in for a while..
cmon england!!

Have seen him bowl many times. To describe his swing or seam as viscious is ridiculous beyond any comprehension.

Even if Murali had played for India, hash (going by all his posts) would have termed him a "good" bowler ...

In all fairness - Sreesanth is a decent bowler ... He has a very good outswinger and also gets the ball to nip in sometimes ... In addition, his full-length deliveries frequently touch the 90 mile barrier ... He needs to improve his bowling to left-handers though

Players out on the pitch. Lets hope England can get some early wickets

Go and watch the replays of Ind-SA series then you will agree.

I saw that series and I still don't.

I am not saying he is a bad bowler. I am saying he is average.

He craps all over guys like Gul, Rana, Sami, Shabbir.

Case closed.

Before anybody attacks me on Gul comment I must make it clear that I do rate Gul but for me Sree shades him.

Well nobody gave you any authority to close or open any cases.

He is better than Shabbir and Rana. But he isn't fit to lick the bottom of Gul's shoes.

OK, I guess we can't go the entire day without losing a wicket. Let's give India a wicket (maybe another one a bit later) because we feel sorry for them......and their fans will probably kill them if we beat them too badly.

Prior fluffing one that really should've been pouched, Jaffer the lucky man.

Sidebottom's started really well.

The fact that you think Sree "shades" Gul (or is it "crap all over him" - make up your mind) makes your argument lose all credibility

So Xoib uses the word 'crap' again to win the argument :)))

Whats all this talk about Dhonni cheating? Alex Stewart is laying into Dhonni big time.

What happened.

But Angus Fraser thinks match ref may have a word with England players who went onto the balcony and made KP walk back.

Once the umpire gives you out - isnt that final??? KP walked - didnt query it until AFTER he left the field.

Not only Xoib,, Many uses the same for the same reason in PP

I wouldnt call it cheating. I mean, it was so close, he himself may not have known for sure. Although i guess if that was the case, he shouldnt have been so confident in claiming the catch.

Noone on Sky Sports has labelled hi a cheat so cant really comment on that. But they did say what umpire did (ie change his mind) was perfectly fine and within the laws of the game

Why Pakistanis just get upset if an Indian bowler gets one or two wickets .Why all this he is average ,sort of comments.Shows u guys, lack of confidence in urself .If he is capable ,he will last otherwise he will not .No need of such knee jerk reactions .

Regarding abt India's performance ,well our batsmen will suffer in these condition ,thats for sure.

that's what my worry.. England got atleast one good which was sunny and pitch was flat. today they score just around 30 runs..

Sidebottom is bowling like a god. Collapsing from 218-1 to 298 is hilarious though.
