1st Test - England v India, Lord's

Just seen the Dhonni / KP 'out - not out' incident.

Alex Stewart deserves a smack in the mouth for saying it was a disgrace.

How can the keeper tell with the impact of ball/glove/ground etc!

Too ambitious .Be real ,i am happy if we reach atleast 270.[/QUOTE]

Dude, you should be hoping for a lot more then 270 and should definitely not be ''happy'' with just that. Restricting England to 298 was an excellent effort and for India to have a chance to win this match, they need a lead of some sort. At least 75 odd is needed to put some sort of pressure on England. A par first innings score will ensure that every run England score will add pressure on the Indians.

England would be very happy with an Indian total btw 275-325. That gives them a chance to make a decent score and put pressure on India in the 4th innings. It's shaping up to be a very interesting match. Lets just hope the rain stays away.

Key wicket for England is Ganguly here. Apart from he, no one should really provide much of a resistance.

Every wicket is important, but for me, the most important one is Dhoni. He's the only guy in the team who's willing to take the opposition on. A quick fire knock from him could prove to be the difference. It's also deflating when a guys plays his shots and turns the game in a short period of time. He can switch the momentum and thats why he's such an important wicket.

Having said that, if Laxman and Ganguly get together and build a big partnership, the momentum would have already switched.

Seems like a perfect situation for Gilchrist to come in sometime after lunch tomorrow and thrash all the english bowlers to the boundary getting a quickfire 100 and extending the teams lead to 150+. Except Australia isn't playing England here.

60-100 run lead is quite possible here for india ..need one good partnership here though......awesome performance by our bowlers , showed again how underrated our bowling is .....Batting is a huge worry though , its almost been a year since our batsmen been out of form ......all our batsmen avg 70+ here in england & they need to match that to win this series !

We got the most important wicket in the Indian batting (Dravid) so I would say we are slightly ahead at the moment...probably 55-45. But they still have some batting to come......need to keep chipping away at their batting and restrict them to 280 or so......we can't let one of Gangu, Dhoni or Laxative stick otherwise, as jusarrived said, a lead of 100+ is possible and then it would be India's game.

Gangu, Laxman and Dhoni need to bat well, India need to get 350 runs atleast to put some pressure on England.

I would be disappointed if India don't get any lead from here. With six wickets in hand, couple of 70+ partnerships along with one or two cameo can easily take us there. We still have good 40 odd overs to hammer old ball around.

It's proving to be a good entertainment, Test cricket at it's best!

Ganguly departs ... India 5 down at 155.

Anderson on a roll, Dravid - Sachin - Ganguly in his kitty so far .....

That is a big wicket there.

156 for 5, still 142 behind. Come on!

With just 20 odd overs to the new ball, Monty should come into the attack. Give him an 8-10 over spell and then take the new ball as soon as it's available.

Dhoni is outta there. Short and close into the body. Dhoni tries to play a late cut, cramped up and edges it straight into the slips.

7 down India

Dhoni gone!

Huge wicket!

We are well in control of this game now

175 for 7! Still 123 behind! We could end up with a lead of over 100 here :D

Classic way to get Dhoni out! Seen it many times before........Anderson has done his homework :19:

Anyway, I was hoping we would bundle them out for 250 or so........at the moment less than 200 is a possibility!

Woah! Anderson has been impressive I hope he can build on this and bowl like this in the future aswell.

Indai has to realise that out of Dhoni and Karhick they should play only one and to me Karthick seems a better option in tests, Laxman is the key India somehow needs to get up to 250 to make a match out of this.

I think Kumble was a better player with a moustache. I wonder if somebody pull out his record of when he had a mouch and after he shaved it off

I sense some tail resistance here. Kumble can be very annoying; He could easily hang around for a score of 20 odd in a partnership of over 50. Again, I feel that Monty should bowl a few overs before the new ball is due. Kumble has traditionally been more comfortable against the quicker bowlers as compared to spinners.

damn! ok still not over...kumble can hang around and Laxman's gotta get goin! Not out of this yet it'll be great if we can take a lead, but let's get as close as possible

Kumble gone lbw to Sidebottom. Inswinger to the right hander, pad before bat and plumb.

192/8

England Zindabaad!

India 192 for 8!

Still 106 behind!

Come on! Let's get a lead of over 100!

I hope either sree or zaheer can get a quickfire 30 here....every run is crucial here !

Now Laxman departs, India in complete mess LOL.

Need to do something real dramatic in second inning to give any threat to english team.

A lead of 97, fantastic bowling by England especially Jimmy Anderson. Always loved his bowling and he's got 5 fer at the home of cricket.

Zaheer the last man out caught Strauss bowled Anderson

201 all out

97 run lead for england...........an opportunity missed , wat cud have been an esay win ....now they ill be playing to save the match.....can our bowlers repeat yesterdays performance .........& Dravid has to score in second innigs !

India all out for 210 trailing by 97 runs

Sidebottom taking 4/65
Anderson taking 5/42

India all out for 201.

England 0 for 0 (97 ahead)

We are well in control of this game. But lets not get ahead of ourselves......still some work to do here. Hope the weather stays clear.

This is far from over. If India can skittle England out for a low score they may have a very good chance because the ball isn't going to swing throughout the 5 days.

ok boys..let's get some england wickets early. Gotta get back into this

Alright Hash, I can't control myself anymore, it's going to have to be this way:

We did a great job there restricting them to 200 odd. A lead of close to a 100 gives us an excellent platform to bat India out of this game. All we need to do is score 250-300 odd and India will be up against it. Weather permitting all we have to do is bat till around lunch tomm and after that (and a target of around 400) a declaration should be on the cards.

I may be getting ahead of myself but I'm excited about our position!

On the pads again from Sreesanth and flicked through square leg for 4 by Cook again. Effortless shot.

8/0

first a lovely four byes off Zaheer and then a nice square cut for 4 off Sreesanth
Eng 22-0

Sreesanth picks up the ball in follow through, throws it and hits Strauss' behind for some reason. Strauss was two feet on the side of the stumps and not covering it
Eng 31-0

My man Sreesanth over pitches and is hammered through cover for 4. Lovely shot by Strauss.

Sreesanth to Strauss, no run, another tight delivery and this time Strauss plays it back down the track, Sreesanth picks it up and unleashes a stupid throw which hits Strauss on the full.

Strauss edges Zaheer straight to first slip where it's taken easily. Lovely swing bowling there, he got Strauss going for the drive and there was a healthy edge to slip.

40/1 England

40/1 England

:( but still 137/1 :25: not bad. Target of 300 will be to much for India.

Hash wouldn't you say...if we get a target of atleast 300 minium we are well set for a win? Only 160 runs more and we are good.

Cook gone lbw to Zaheer Khan. As soon as i saw it i thought not out as it his outside but Bucknor has given it. That hit outside the line i'm sure.

43/2

Shoot we just got a rough one. His front leg was outside the off stump. Oh well...come on KP we need fifty. We just need to get 160 more runs and we are gold.

There is still plenty of batting to come. Vaughan and KP need a good partnership.

Come on!!!, 43-2........India need to get them out for under a lead of 250.

Why every bad decision has been against England? I hope India also have a share in 2nd innings.

160 More runs?, why waste so much time? another 70 runs Max is all you need, to bowl this WORLD CLASS STRONG AS HELL INDIAN BATTING :19:

Took a quick camera shot of the replay of that lbw. The quality is not good but you can see it just hit outside off. Looked a big way outside live.

it might sound over optimistic after seeing our batting in first innings........but I have a feeling india are going to chase down anything less than 350 .......!

over optimistic ,i would say .U were also optimistic that India would have a lead of 60 -70 runs in the first innings.

Realistically ,India would chase some thing around 230-240.

if target is less than 300.. sachin and laxman have the quality to win them the match. though anything over 300 india cant win but i think they can draw the game.

I just cant see Dravid failing in both the innings of a test match....then tendulkar , ganguly , laxman ..........it cant happen twice man ....it just cant !

RP Singh with a huge lbw appeal against Vaughan. Massive inswing from around the stumps. I thought was out but Taufel says no. Hawkeye says hitting leg.

Dravid ,started crumbling. He is no more looking like a ''wall'' he used to be. May be the baggage of expectation ''Mr .Reliable'' bothering him. He is not in good form .i am really missing Yuvraj Singh.
