3rd test (day 1) commentary thread - pak v india @ karachi

Please place team news when announced at toss, toss updates, and score updates on this thread please when match starts.

Match starts 5am uk (2 hrs & 30 mins from now) :)

It will be interesting to see the state of this pitch after all the hype. Green or Mean?
 
Well toss should be at 1115 PM EST here in the BS of USA, and usually by 1130 PM EST, we have the team list available on Cric Info ..

big question is will INZY play ?
then .. who is opening ?
then .. what does the bowling department look like ?.

60 mintues to go raz its karachi not punjab...so start will be at 10 pak time! n a very gud morning to u !
 
I went yesterday to Kebabish to get some naans and salan specificically for today,
will be heating that up soon.

0.1 Pathan to Salman, one run, flicked to deep square leg, off the mark straight away and brings Afridi on strike.
0.2 Pathan to Afridi: SIX!, Goodness me! Good length ball outside the offstump, Afridi comes charging down the track and murders it out of the stadium.

Yep but teams batting second at the National Stadium have generally faired better. This might be the most important coin toss of the series.

Just realised i forgot the other four balls so here goes

0.3 Pathan to Afridi, SIX! Another one!! Pathan goes for the yorker, but Afridi being the beast he is obliterates it back past the bowler and the balls mashes into the advertising boards.
0.4 Pathan to Afridi, SIX! Hat-trick!!!! Short delivery this time and it is fearlessly hooked way way over the ropes and into the crowd.
0.5 Pathan to Afridi SIX!! This is amazing!!! Good length ball from Pathan, Afridi comes down the track again but this time slog sweeps him!! What a sight!!
0.6 Pathan to Afridi SIX! 5 in a row!! Afridi! Afridi! Slower ball thats been annihilated out of Karachi. No chance of ever seeing that ball again!! End of an eventful over!!

0.3 pathan to afridi:SIX,again.This time slightly short swinging away from afridi and he helps it on its way by crashing it over extra cover.

there has been a delay.Looks like a poor bystander has been hurt by that shot into the crowd.It was too quick for him.Oh wait its harbhajan singh!Apparently he has been laughing at pathan when afridi hit that shot.

Waqar comments in straight drive that "we ( subcontinent batsmen ) are not that technically sound" to play in green tracks... i guess compared to english batsmen???

The grass is being left on the pitch!

Faisal was practicing not sure if its confirmed for sure that Inzamam will not play.

This might mean same bowling line up as last match and Razzaq to stay to add batting in absence of Inzamam?
 
on the pitch report mic holding thinks it will be more suited to the fast bowlers then the spinners ...n as the day game progreses n the pitch dries out it will become more quicker....whereas shiva thinks that the damp beneath the surface will help spinners as well.......................not for till the toss peeps soon as they come out will tell u who it is either inzi or younis khan!
 
Inzamam is out, India won the toss and will bowl first. Ganguly brought in to the Indian side for Harbhajhan!

Saurav is back, It is Harbhajan who has made way for him, rest of the team is the same as the previous match. Younis Khan leads the side in the absence of Inzy, Faisal Iqbal comes in place of Inzamam and Shoaib Malik has been replaced by Imran Farhat!
 
NO Inzi, no Rana, and we lose the toss, man we need to really fight hard
here. I hope I'm wrong, but avoiding a loss will be the team's instructions now.

I wanted Pak to bowl first :( I knew that once Inzamam isnt playing bowling wnt change Razzaq wud stay bcoz he can bat, Gud luck Pakistan!
 
peeeps if we pull this one off then i dont know what i would be doing but im not quite sure right now:| playing both razi n asif.......................might be make or break for poor asif :| but anyways all the very best to our boys n may this test match be as cracking as 2004 n 2005 tests!!! now cav in shock mode for the next 15 odd minutes :|
 
sorry guys,I dont understand u r team selection..Its a pitch with some little help to bowlers and u dont pick Sami,Rana???? and go with Razzaq?Still doesnt seem like Pak is looking to win.Rather they are playing to not lose.I think this will prove costly.

i must say paks mid order looks very vulnerable.......iqbal/afridi /razi......hmm what a difference inzi makes ehhh

field first ... obviously expecting some early movement. farhat and butt to the rescue, though both will be a tad nervous. the odds were against us as far as the toss was concerned, and a brave decision by dravid to field first after all that has gone on in this series.
 
I'm so depressed, I knew if Inzi didn't play they would aim for the draw, as taps said,
could be very dangerous.

I think management thinks so, a good 40 in each innings will be gud. They dnt trust Faisal Iqbal thats y Razzaq is playing, with a fit Inzamam we wud prob have brought in Gul or Rana.
