People were expecting Abdullah Shafique to have scored a 50 ball hundred right now. Pakistani fans have no clue about cricket.

Pakistan doing pretty well here

The plan should be to bat once for the next 2 days

Bangladesh just have a club level bowling. They should try new bowlers it's not working with these guys. Ebadot at least should be dropped and others should be under rader and if they continue to bowl toothless like this should be replaced too

I hope Pakistan hasn't got another Azhar Ali in Shafique. It's his first test though but with more games he needs to increase his SR.

Abu Jayed used to be good with the new ball no?

I remember him swinging the ball well in Bangladesh's test tour of India.

Shafiq is even slower than Azhar. This guy need more than 2 days to score 85-90. We can never win against big teams with these tuktukers.

Exactly. He can get away tuktuk against Bangladeshi poor bowling and flat pitches. Big teams will get him even before he score double digit.

Yeah, let's drop him....and bring in Asif Ali to smash some sixes

Shafiqe reminding me Wajatullah Wasti. The great grandpa of tuktuk.

Lol well said honestly people are so impatient he has done a great job ..i am actually gettin worried the amount of turn tajul is getting so need to carry on what is the rush

Both batsmen should cash in. Abid could get another marathon double hundred here

From time to time, you have shown how little knowledge you got regarding cricket especially test cricket.
Big teams will not get him not because he is tuktuking. If so Gavaskar, Dravid and Chanderpaul and even to lesser extend Azhar Ali would not have turned to one of the greats of the game.

Big teams will get him, if he does not have foundation and technique to survive- case in point Abid Ali or Imran Butt. Fortunately he have got good foundation to survive. And by the way, this is his debut match. We will get clearer picture after he plays five to seven more tests.

it's the last session of the day most favourable to batsmen 1st session tomorrow will favour bowlers you have seen what happened with Bangladesh in the first session today so make the most of the opportunity.

That's why there is a rush

We have to wait till lunch tomorrow to see Shafiqe 50. Abid looks Tendulqar next to him. If you cannot score faster in super flat pitches against poor bowlers then its almost impossible to score against top teams.

Abid Ali has scored fast before dont you remember the 2nd test against West Indies in August?

That's if we survive the 1st session tomorrow

If pakistan were to be 4 down for 100 on the board because our batsmen took unnecessary shots the same cricket pundits who are crying about the NRR would be crying about taking too much risks when there is enough time left in the game. Please learn to appreciate...

So when are we going to take the shots 1st session tomorrow when the conditions are most favourable to bowlers?

You have seen what happened first session today and yesterday

I hate to say but pretty boring test match... Even NZ vs Ind is better than this :(

NZ vs Ind has got to be better than this because they're the top ranked sides. Not sure why you say "Even NZ vs Ind is better than this.." lol.

Obviously, Ind v NZ would be entertaining, two jobbers slugging it out - who is the better bare bum in the shower ? Main reason for the It’s to tune in isn’t it.

Ignoring that, it’s a colosal joke how NZ became no.1 and even more funny how they beat It’s in the final :))

I am not asking for blind slogger either. Why can't our players just play positive?

How can you judge a debutant on the basis of just 1 inning which is still not over.

The only negativity I can see is in your comments...and not for the first time.

Pakistan finished day two on 145/0, trailing by 185 runs, after bowling Bangladesh out in the first session for 330.

Pakistan openers Abid Ali (93*) and Abdullah Shafique (52*) helped the visitors gain control of the match after their bowlers turned the tables around in the morning session with Hasan Ali finishing with his sixth five-wicket haul in Tests.

Just as day one, Bangladesh's start of day two was not an auspicious one. The hero of day one, Liton, Das, who had scored a stunning maiden Test century was out in the second over – trapped in the front and reviewed successfully by Hasan Ali.

Liton's wicket broke the massive 206-run fifth-wicket stand between him and Mushfiqur. Pakistan did not have to wait for long for the next wicket either as Hasan removed Yasir Ali just a few overs later, sneaking through the bat-pad gap and cracking into the middle and leg stump.

Although Mushfiqur tried hard to hold on, the runs had dried up with Pakistan bowlers maintaining the pressure with their tight lines and lengths. Faheem Ashraf finally removed Mushfqur right before the drinks break, the Bangladesh veteran missing his century by nine runs.

Mehidy Hasan tried to accelerate with a few lofty shots but he received little support from the other end. Taijul Islam (11) was removed by Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali soon wrapped up the innings dismissing Abu Jayed (8) and Ebadot Hossain (0) on back-to-back deliveries just before lunch.

Hasan finished with impressive figures of 5/51 with Mehidy stranded on 38* as Bangladesh were bowled out for 330.

In reply, Bangladesh bowlers failed to make an impact as the Pakistan openers continued unperturbed. Abid Ali showed his class while debutant Abdullah Shafique dropped anchor at the other end. At one point, he even managed to get a reprieve on 9 when he was trapped in front by Taijul but the appeal was turned down. Had Bangladesh reviewed, Shafique would have had to walk back.

As the host bowlers failed to apply pressure, Abid racked up his third Test fifty as Pakistan went to Tea unscathed at 79/0.

After Tea, the duo continued from where they had left off and kept the scoreboard ticking. The 100-run partnership came soon after as Abid punched through the off-side for a couple. He was the aggressor of the two, biding his time, pouncing on the loose deliveries and smashing the occasional boundary to keep up the pressure.

The Bangladesh bowlers failed to create any definitive chances after that initial LBW appeal against Shafique and looked thoroughly exhausted by the end.

Shafique brought up his maiden Test fifty with a six over the bowler's head to the standing ovation of his teammates in the dressing room.

The play was eventually called off early due to bad light with Pakistan walking back happier of the two teams with 145/0 on board, trailing by 185 runs.

According to him 75 percentage team is rubbish, yesterday Hasan Ali was main target and today Abdullah, even if he has scored a fifty in the debut inning without any first class experience, and that too playing away from home.

Abid Ali speaking at end of Day 2:

"Any player who is debuting will always have some pressure so I tried to help Abdullah Shafique out and told him not to take on any tension and simply utilize any bad balls that come our way"

"The ball started to spin towards the end of the day, it was staying low, gripping as well and a lot was happening; So our target tomorrow is to play session by session and first achieve the objective of reaching 330 runs and then score more runs after that to setup the game which our bowlers can then use to their advantage"

Bangladesh threw it away. They should've reached 400 at least (after being 253/4).

Good opportunity for Abid Ali and Abdullah to get big centuries.

So, Bangladesh couldn't take a single wicket after bowling for 57 overs.

This bowling attack is very bad.

Hassan Ali speaking to the PCB:

"Bangladesh were in a good position last evening but our plan was to make use of the early morning swing, bowl in the right areas and let the batters make mistakes"

"I am very happy that I took 5 wickets in this innings. The pitch is not easy to bowl on for fast-bowlers as its very slow and the ball is coming on nicely on the bat, but opening batters have made a good start"

"Its great to see our fast-bowlers taking wickets and I always feel that when that happens, then not only series but you win tournaments and World Cups"

"Our two legends, Wasim and Waqar, took 99 wickets in 1993 and now our current bowling attack has taken 95 wickets so I am hoping that we will take more wickets and win more games for our side"

Trying to break into the legends legacy :)) masterpiece

excellent performance in 1st session with the ball. Great effort with bat to set a solid foundation. Pakistan need to look to bat all day tomorrow and get up to 450 tomorrow at least.

Pakistan in a good position but there was some sharp turn in that final session.

It’s crucial they take a decent lead as batting last could be difficult.

Bangladesh will be disappointed they didn’t get 400 considering the position they were in on day 1 but they are by no means out of this contest.

All to play for tomorrow.

The plan for Pakistan should be to wipe the deficit and then pile on a lead. They are 185 runs behind without any loss of wickets. They should take a lead by the third session and hope to take a 50-70 run lead by the end of day 3. If they have enough wickets in hand on day 4, they should play aggressively and build a maximum lead so they don't have to bat twice . Hopefully, a lead of 200 by the second session on day 4. It would be difficult for BD to bat effectively after a long duration of being in the field.

Abdullah Shafique has shown good temperament and excellent technique. He can only improve from here. Let us show confidence in his potential. Abid Ali also played well and showed skill and technique. Hopefully, he carries on for a big score. He will be valuable in the oncoming home series. Shafique is an excellent prospect for the future.
