Both Bangladesh and Sri lanka have won 20 matches each but in number of matches played lies the difference between both
BD

2015 - They won 13 out of 18

2016 - They won 3 out of 9

2017 - They won 4 out of 14 and 3 no result (so 4 out of 11 completed matches)

Last three years 20 out of 38 and that is a remarkable feat

SL

2015 - 12 out of 25 with 1 no result ( so 12 out 0f 24 completed matches)

2016 - 4 out of 19 with 3 no result (so 4 out of 16 completed matches)

2017 - 4 out of 26 with 1 no result ( so 4 out of 25 completed)

Last three years 20 out of 65

Stats says it all.

May be partially in ODI or at best LO; but in that period they have won 2-0 in uae, won 2 Tests against ind & PAK; probably a Test series in uk as well and 3-0 against AUS at home. That actually not even a comparison

They won a test series in UK in 2014.

Sri Lanka under Chandimal and Mathews have been a very good team better than BD...almost made it to the SF of the CT without help from rain..

Most of their losses came under Tharanga who has been a clueless captain..under Tharanga even Ireland and Afghanistan are better than Sri Lanka

You know, I try to be impartial but for few like you, it's really ends up in mud slinging always. This is something I explained you last time as well & you opted to shift goal post for a way out - there was NO rain in the BD's SF; it was a QF between BD-NZ and we beat them fair and square.

SRL is a decent Test team in Asian condition because of Herath, but he averages 60+ in BD & they'll lose Test series in BD fair and squire now, lost a Test at home despite winning toss on a turner and having Angelo in that XI. In ODI, they'll lose 5-0 in BD as well without any of our bowlers chucking and T20 will be close, but they have lost 2 of the last 3 T20s, 1 at home, so again slightly advantage to us.

I thought op was just saying about ODI only

He should have mentioned that - I'll gladly exchange that WC QF, 3-0, 2-1, 2-1, Asia Cup Final & CT SF for a 3-0 against Aussies & 2-0 against PAK in UAE.

Impartial?Are you joking?

Your hate against the PCB and abnormal love for BCB is well known...You even predicted that Pakistan will end up playing qualifiers while BD will surpass it in a few years..You criticize the domestic structure of PCB when the BCB domestic structure took 20 years to produce a half decent test side..no side has made as slow progress as BD..one day even Afghanistan will surpass you..

Now coming back to the topic...read closely this topic is about which side is better overall..SL under Mathews and Chandimal is way ahead not in BD but overall surely..

You can praise all you want about BCB administration etc but the fact still remains that even today BD is not close to what PK,SL,IND(Post Partition) achieved in their first 20 years...

Bangladesh have taken great strides in the last few years and SL have generally been poor in LOI’s but better in tests.

My love hate relation with PCB you won’t understand, so won’t go there, neither on the domestic structure part because you don’t have fundamental understanding of what is structure & what is system. Regarding what progress BD has made in how many years also leave there, because you have no idea of what is actual progress in a sports administration.

Coming to SRL, your latest excuse is captaincy because PAK failed to chase 136 under Chandimal. It’s just about 2/3 months SRL will come to play in BD, so I won’t talk much about that - last time a better SRL side made it 1-1 in 3 formats at home. You can glorify SRL at whatever level you wish, that doesn’t make me looking fool, so no issues. But, don’t bring rain at every random opportunity, and don’t make mods busy to edit my post there after.

Talking LOI strictly we have been better than Sri Lanka. We have discipline in our side and a few quality players who on their day can be lethal.

Lanka don't have the X factor these days anymore, someone like Dilshan Malinga

I actually think Bangladesh are really investing in their youth development and cricketing structures and systems. Unless Pakistan are vigilant and invest in their own domestic cricket there will be no easy matches against Bangladesh.

It’s good for cricket which is all we want.

Well then Pakistan got smashed into oblivion in their last Test series against Minnow A and last ODI series against minnow B.

Yes and we also have all ICC trophies....your point?
SL are not a minnow..atleast not in tests after witnessing how they are challenging India in their fortress

True... Sri Lanka is good in tests and a minnow in LOI while BD are a minnow in every format.

I am entitled to my opinion and you to yours..

Now about rain..it has helped Pakistan only once in 1992 and we made full use of it

BD were saved twice in WC and CT by rain and later on were thrashed...

Big teams like Pak,Ind make use if opportunities given to them..

End of topic

In ODI's probably they are as SL have had horrible year in the shorter formats. In tests though I think SL is still better than BD. SL just beat Pakistan 2-0 in UAE while BD has not threatened any team outside their home yet. They played a test against India and lost convincingly on a very flat track. The game produced lots of runs and yet BD collapsed in the second innings to hand the game to India. So BD have had better time in ODI's than SL this year but in tests SL is still some distance in front.

And how many times bd played in India compared to SL if we expect bd to win there?

It is not about the amount of times the teams play each other. It is just that BD needs to prove a lot before they can be called a better team than SL. Yes it is unfortunate that they do not get to play top teams often but again your players also take time off when they eventually get a chance. Anyways that is besides the point, if BD wants to be called better than SL, they need to fight or perform on par with SL outside their home.

please dont disrespect MMHS, he is one of the most knowledgeable posters on here. If you allow him to explain fully and not just box him in I am sure he will explain that currently the grass roots development and investment in cricket, be it training, fitness and polishing of raw talent is fantastic in Bangladesh.

if you allow him he will say that given these facts on the ground it is only a matter of time before bangladesh are a serious challenger to Pakistan, let alone Srilanka. Ofcourse, the ten year cycle is such that there are always retirements and injuries when teams meet but if your bench is strong then you compete all the time.

If the BCB domestic structure is so good why are players like Pinak Gosh,Saif Hassan averaging 50 in domestic and below 35 at the under 19 level...

Why cannot Bangladesh be a half competent test side after wasting so much ICC money if their domestic structure is so good?

If you want to look at a good domestic structure take a look at how Sri Lanka won the WC in less than 20 years after achieving test status...this is called PROGRESS
