What's new

Arsenal FC | 2022/23 Season

A point gained for Arsenal imo, some great saves from Ramsdale.

City can’t be perfect all of the time and will drop points somewhere.

From my friend - LFC long time fanatic and one who was at Anfield this evening:

"Credit where credit is due. Gooners played a magnificent away game. This is a tough place for anyone (whether we are top or bottom of the league). Well done - Anyone who says Arsenal bottled it is talking out of their hats"

I agree with him. We have to remember Man U (who conceded 7), Man City and Chelsea have all failed to score at Anfield this season. Also, Liverpool have only lost one game at home.

Getting a point let alone a win was always going to be tough. If it wasn't for Ramsdale, we would've lost.

And also thank Salah!

Let’s hope so bro

We need him to come through for us now in these last few, crucial games

Yeah genuinely he's the only player at present who would make Arsenal's invincibles team. He deserves his new £300k a week contract.

As you say we need to come through as we've got some big games coming up.

A minute of silence for a classic Granit Xhaka chawwal moment

Will this guy ever truly grow up?

I really hope Arteta replaces him with Jorginho for the remaining games but him and Zinchenko are his golden boys. Bit like Babar and Rizwan in T20Is for Misbah.

He still is that £100-130M value player no doubt but it’s these games, the biggest ever games where you lay down your mark

Look at Mbappe for France in the final
Look at De Bruyne now and how his head is totally focused on the PL title.

It’s these types of players who sniff the title and will do everything it takes to get it for their team

Darwin Nunez

How is this guy worth £80m? He’s in the same class as Bendtner

That's the challenge for Saka now. Can he hit those kind of heights and reach his ceiling. I think he will because he's different to other English players. He's far more driven than his England team mates. I can't imagine him going crazy in Ibiza when it's off-season.

Right now the only better player in his position (left wing forward) is Messi.

Trust me England will never win anything with Southgate, this guy is the cricketing version of Misbah. Defensive and deluded are the words that come to mind.

With Arsenal, we're in good hands with Arteta, who will need Saka to step up in the league and in those crucial knockout matches in the Champions League.

Yet again Anfield too hot to handle for Arsenal Despite a two goal lead. Bottled it.

Before the game I said I'd happily have taken a point, but after been 2-0 and dominating the game this feels like a defeat.

A minute of silence for a classic Granit Xhaka chawwal moment

Will this guy ever truly grow up?

Never has been good enough for Arsenal, needs to be sold along with holding and other mediocre bottle job players.

Brilliant and pathetic in equal measure.

Lesson from last season, don't stir the hornets nest that is Anfield and what does Xhaka do?
Before that moment all you could hear where Arsenal away fans...

Going to five at the back after taking Jesus and Odeguard off at the wrong moment was also inexplicable.

Feels like a loss especially after being two nil up.

Going to a back 5 was stupidity at its finest, just allowing two of the best Crossers of the ball TAA and Robertson free reign to ping cross after cross in. Tactical naivety at its finest.

I think the whole stadium was laughing when he was trying to do that step over dance he was doing

The guy can’t be taken seriously

The only thing going for Nunez is his off the ball movement which is excellent. The rest of his game is average.

No shock one person continues to blindly defend Zinchenko, the guy wasn't even 1st choice at City. His defending is non-existent but people get over excited because ge offers an extra man in midfield. He's a novel idea, how about he learns to defend.

Man utd away, man city at home and now Liverpool away this guys been exposed and cost us points in big games.

Zinchenko is so overrated. He can’t defend but because he tucks in the midfield, people get all giddy about him.

I reckon that he gets a free pass because of his nationality and the current circumstances.

Tierney needs to come In when we play city and Newcastle away. City wingers will have a field day again against Zinchenkos non existent defending.

I mentioned it here about 4-6 weeks ago. It's only a matter of time before he gets exposed. I was hoping this would've happened next season.

What I fear is he'll get found out against an European giant which could knock us out in the Champions League but this compounded by the fact that we won't be able to call up Tierney as he looks dead certain to leave in the summer.

We can't let Tierney leave.

I completely agree. The only reason why him and Xhaka play are because they're Arteta's golden boys. They don't belong to this team on merit.

Jorginho and Tierney are far superior in multiple facets of their individual game.

Letting Tierney go would be stupid. We won't find as good a LB unless we spend loads more money which right now is not a priority position.

This league title will be won by Arsenal or City on fine margins. Arsenal can't afford to play any more big games this season with players who can't defend. Ultimately shooting ourselves in foot vs City or Newcastle in remaining games could decide the title. Zinchenko is a decent player at best, but not a luxury we can afford in big games.

Arteta has been great this season but he made a blunder to not bring in Tierney earlier.

I really hope at the end of this season I won't be ranting about his golden boy treatment.

With Tierney, I reckon Newcastle will buy him for £40-50m. Arsenal will accept it and then next season watch Zinchenko will get exposed in the Champions League.

Arteta must swap Xhaka and Zinchenko for Jorgino and Tierney for the remaining PL games.

If Arsenal are truly the Premier League champions and best team this season, then they need to be winning at Manchester City Away. Simple as that. Usually the best premier league teams are the ones who get on top and win these big matches.

It also more important that they win at Etihad since they lost at home to Manchester City

Arsenal have lost the last 11 games in a row vs City in PL which is simply not acceptable, so that poor record will need to broken when they play City again.

Zinchenko was superb all game until he was nutmegged ehich can happen to any player.

My heart was in my mouth before the game knowing that he was up against Salah but he was brilliant for 99.9pct of the game, some of his play in the first half was sublime.

Xhaka has also been brilliant this season and I really don't know how people can dispute this.

We should have won yesterdays game but, in hindsight, a point at Anfield is a good result snd keeps us in the race.

This Mancity side are superb, one of the very best in the history of the PL. their squad is second to none (worldwide). The fact that our young team is going toe to toe with them for the league would have been incomprehensible at the start of the season. So yes we are ahead of the curve at the moment.

Winning the league will be Awsome but I'd rather have a squad of players that competes year in year out for the league over the next decade then do a Leicester and win it one season and then be fighting relegation 7 years later. Top 4 was the goal and if we finish top two will be huge progression. After that we'll see what we can do in the transfer market.

In big games 1 mistake Is costly, Zinchenko was exposed at old Trafford and the city game at Emirates. The guy is a liability as a defender.

No one is disputing xhaka has had a decent season, but facts are under big pressure players like him and holding get shown up for the liabilities that they are.

Arsenal have zero scope for any more self inflicted errors for rest of the season.

Don't worry.
Win or lose we've done extremely well to finish in top 4.
The real test will be the summer transfer window.
We'll be in CL and there will be no excuses for failing to strengthen the squad with quality players.

If we can avoid defeats to City and Newcastle and win the rest of our games, we’ll win the league.

Bookies have Pep’s team as slight favourites and I have to agree with that. City’s run in is much easier than Arsenal’s remaining games.

I am not thinking about next season, CL or summer transfers. We have a huge chance to win the league and we need cut out the naivety which looks like will cost us the league. Senior players letting team down, subs made in game were shambolic.

Yes but we can't keep going around in circles discussing the same issues again and again.

I already made the point regarding the mistakes made yesterday.
That's it, it's done. Now time to move on

It's not about the same issues, seems some of the fan base have gone into default mode of "If we don't win the league" it's ok as "top 4 was the target" or "we weren't expected to win the league at start of season".

The club sacrificed the FA Cup and Europa league as supposedly the PL is the main target, so there can't be any excuses if we don't win the league now.

Hopefully we will win the league but a trophyless season is a failure.

This is where you and I differ.
No we did not sacrifice the FA Cup or the Europa League.
We lost both matches and most teams would have selected similar players...

How doesn't want to win the league? Of course I do!
But I'm also realistic and know that we need to strengthen the squad to compete with City (and others next season).
I hope we won't it this year but if we do then that would be a huge and unexpected bonus

City are veterans in this type of battle towards the end of the season, somehow they always find a way to win. Its likely they will win every game which will give them the title.

Arsenal and Arteta have done brilliantly this season, nobody expected it. Many Arsenal fans will be disappointed as its very possible to win the league. Premier League is the toughest and most competitive national league of any sports in the world. The team is good but not great , to win it will be a legendary title in the clubs history.

The fans should accept the success of this season and not be too despondent if they dont cross the line. The problem is if they are, next season they will expect to win it which will put pressure on the manager as the other teams will improve esp LFC and Newcastle.

I totally agree.

Last two seasons would have been Liverpool's were it not for an all time great Man City team / squad.

We've had an amazing season so far and I've enjoyed every moment of it.
If we are smart this summer then hopefully we can push again next season.
That's not taking away from this season. I hope we do win it but City just don't look like losing.

There is a pet of me that says we should be competing next season when the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manu are at their very best... when they are and we are still competitive then I'll be a happy gooner 😁

Yes it must be nice for fans to look forward to every game, watch analysis, interviews etc etc. LFC fans have been spoiled, by having the last few seasons like this.

When I was young, LFC werent competing for the title so I wanted Arsenal to beat Utd. Loved the flare players and the entertainment level. I would still prefer Arsenal to win the league over City.

The remaining fixtures are all tricky as every team barring Chelsea has something to play for.

I grew up watching Dalgleish, Rush, Keegan, Souness and the rest when Liverpool were at the top of English Football. In the 80's every pupil at lunch time wanted to be a Liverpool player...

We knew it would come down to this and yes we have a very very tough run in.
Brighton, in my view, have been superb and I still can't believe how VAR robbed them against Spurs... Newcastle at home are now as tough as Liverpool at Anfield so we're really looking into the abyss. If we get through them and do manage to win the league I will be absolutely amazed

Michael Thomas broke Liverpool hearts at Anfield stealing the league from us! For a couple of years both has great teams, were rivals. It would be nice to see this again next season.

Chelsea has little to play for but with only 3 days after visiting City, it will be a tough match too.

Top 4 may be the goal at the start of the season, but you have to change your expectations and goals, depending on how the season unfolds.

Arsenal have led the premier league for vast majority of the season and are currently six points ahead, albeit having played a game more. If Arsenal from this position finish second, they would have bottled the league and it would be a big disappointment, regardless of how some Arsenal fans may choose to comfort themselves by saying stuff like "we were never in the title race" and "top four was the goal."

Stop using the words "bottling" as you have zero context what the word actually means, you seem to be clutching at straws with your usual Anti-Arsenal rubbish. I

There are still 9 games left and both Arsenal and City have the title in there hands if either side wins all their remaining games.

Bottling the league is when Newcastle had 12 point lead and threw it away.

Same when united threw a 11 point lead away in 97/98

Arsenal 02/03 - threw a 8 point lead away from march.

Man utd 11/12 - threw an 8 point lead away with 6 games left, which is the biggest lead thrown away with least number of games left in a PL season.

That's bottling the league.

When the top 2 sides in the league have the title in their hands with 8 or 9 games left, the team who finishes 2nd isn't bottling the league.

The rest of your post actually made sense, but actually learn what "bottling actually means"

What are your predictions for the remaining games? How many points will you drop in your opinion?

What are your predictions for the remaining games? How many points will you drop in your opinion?

The city vs Arsenal game decides the league. I think Arsenal will draw away to Newcastle.

If city win the game vs arsenal they will win the title by 2 points I think.

If the game is a draw, I think Arsenal will win the league by a point.

If Arsenal win at the eithad they win the league.

Arsenal need to get at least a draw vs man city, we have lost the last 11 PL games in a row vs City. Add to that Man city have only drop points in 2 games out of their last 30 PL games at home against all sides. So Arsenal getting a point will be a miracle.

That's the fine margins that will win or lose the league.

Arsenal will win the league.

It is a shame that the fans have no faith in the team. They have no bottle, no courage.

It is a miracle that the lack of faith of the fans have not impacted the mindset of the players.

Arteta has done a brilliant job to ensure that the lack of belief of the fans have not demotivated the spirit of the players.

You cannot and will not win every game. When City won at the Emirates in February and went level with Arsenal, people thought that was it.

However, Arsenal responded by going on a winning streak and extended the lead while City dropped points.

These are not two points dropped - if you come back from Anfield without a defeat it is a good result.

Yes, there is disappointment because Arsenal were 2-0 up but Liverpool completely battered them in the second half and it could have easily finished 4-2 Liverpool.

Nonetheless, Arsenal’s fate is still in their own hands. They are in a better position than Man City and one final push will be enough to win the league.

It is one thing for rival fans to expect Arsenal fans to fall short, but it is very disappointing to see Arsenal fans showing no bottle whatsoever.

None of these fans deserve to celebrate the title win when Ødegaard lifts the trophy next month.

No set of fans of a title winning team have showed such lack of faith during the course of the season.

It has been pretty clear since December that Arsenal will go all the way and they will. The defining moment was when the World Cup break did not hurt the momentum of the team and they continued to fly without Jesus.

Those were the two major question marks until October-November: how would Arsenal respond to the World Cup break and how would Arsenal respond if any of the main players get injured. They answered both questions with aplomb.

Arsenal fans should be ashamed of themselves because even Leicester fans showed more bottle and faith during the 2016 run-in. Bunch of cowards.

You didn't predict Arsenal to win the league at start of the season

You predicted that man city would take 6 points of Arsenal at start of the season

Where was your faith then, all you have done is mid season changed your mind. A flip flop fan.

Don't tell other fans what they can and can't do when you contradict the stuff you say every few months, you have zero Credibility so stop acting like some righteous super fan when you showed no faith yourself at start of the season. Calling others cowards? You're the one who can't even stick to his own opinion.

Zinchenko is a liability in big games and can't defend to save his life, sadly a lot of our fan base hide behind ** excuses.

"Oh he offers an extra man in midfield"

Did to occur to most people he is a "left back" and his job is to defend.

Vs man united (old trafford) - 1st goal, out of position gets dragged to far across, gets nutmeg and Antony scores

Vs Man city (at Emirates) 2nd goal - gets nutmegged again, then stands there ball watching, ball gets played into vacant space on left side, Zinchenko nowhere to be seen, player overload and City score.

Vs Man city (at Emirates) 3rd goal - CIty play ball from midfield into left Channel, Zinchenko ball watching as usual while city play gets into space inside him, leads to the 3rd goal

City also hit the bar in that game from a free kick again where Zinchenko was ball watching instead of marking someone

Vs liverpool (Anfield) 1st goal- ball gets crossed it and finds its way to the back post, anyone know where Arsenal left back is? Nowhere to be seen and Salah gets a lucky goal

Vs liverpool (Anfield) 2nd goal - Zinchenko gets nutmegged, 3rd time this season on a goal that happened.

Fans need to stop protecting certain players when it's clear they are a liability in their primary job as a defender and its cost Arsenal goals in big games.

All big teams know exactly where to exploit that left side gap vs Arsenal.

So yeah 100% agree on Zinchenko needs to be dropped.

Good confidence as Brighton and even West Ham wont be easy but yes Arsenal should win both if they continue their form. The 2nd half at Anfield hurt Utd, they didnt win the next 2 PL matches. Arsenal must bounce back after their 2nd half against the Reds.

Beating City away will be very difficult. If you get the result, I agree the title is there for the taking.

Both teams will also need the moments of luck.

As you say it's the left side that's been targeted because the opposition knows Zinchenko is the weak link in the team for 2 reasons:

1. He can't defend very well
2. Zinchenko leaves Martinelli isolated with his inverted style

On the right wing it's a complete contrast. Ben White is a very good defender but has also been fantastic in how he's linked up with Saka, who benefits from White's presence tremendously as it allows him to run in more advanced positions and attack the defence.

If Arsenal miss out on the title, Zinchenko will more than likely be the culprit based on his costly errors in the big games mentioned in your post (above).

West ham is a Derby game and they are never easy but.

We have won all our away PL London derby's thus season (with out conceding a goal)

We generally have a good record away to West ham, and in general as well. I think we will win that.

Brighton will be tough and they have a good record at the Emirates. I think if we play as well as we can we should win 6 out of the last 8 games, draw vs Newcastle. As I say CIty game will decide it.

The way city are playing I think they will though win all their remaining games. Just watching them now vs Bayern and in general at home good they are at home domestically I think they will beat us. I just think naivety and mistakes in big games will be exposed again like it was at the Emirates. But if we some how scrap a draw that will be crucial.

If Arteta can swap out Zinchenko for Tierney and ideally Xhaka for Jorginho from hereon in then perhaps I'll share your optimism.

But Zinchenko and Xhaka are Arteta's golden boys so I expect them to keep their place in the side.

Before the Man City v Liverpool game, Arsenal were slight favourites according to the bookmakers. But the outcomes from Liverpool's last two games against City and Arsenal have tilted the title race in favour of the men in blue.

Man City's odds are 4/5 which equates to a 55-56% of them winning the league.

I know Arsenal were good after the World Cup and responded very well after losing to Everton and City however the toughest phase is now. City have played all their tough away games against the top 5 placed sides in the league. Arsenal have to play two of them (City and Newcastle) back to back.

Unless City throw it away (which I doubt they will), it's going to take something special from Arsenal for us to win the title.

If you get to watch the highlights again of the 3 games mentioned. Look at how many chances we conceded down our left side. City continously kept playing ball from left touchline into centre and then into left vacant full back area, because either Zinchenko vacated space or just allowed a runner into the channel.

Pep will have done his home work and it will be same at the eithad.

Whilst we are playing well we don't look defensively solid and keep conceding goals. Look at man City and they have stopped tinkering with their starting 11 and they look defensively solid with Diaz back to his best.

In a big game the less mistakes you make, the more likely you are to win, I just don't trust our defence if holding / Zinchenko are playing to keep City out. These fine margins are where its won and lost.

If we lose league by few points and it's because we have lost to CIty. Home and away it will be remembered for fact we can't gey over the mental block of beating them, 11 PL defeats in a row against them. Unless that changes, we will finish empty handed

City rarely dont score but can also be scored against. If Arsenal start fast, they could score and put them under pressure.

Problem is City have a good advantage, home of course but also a 8pm midweek kick off under lights. But mainly City will have a lot of rest as the game before is postponed and the previous game before is a cup game. While Arsenal will be playing the 3rd match in 10 days.

Well pointed out. I forgot to mention this as well.

Zinchenko ends up drifting into midfield leaving a huge gap in the far left of our backline.

I really hope Saliba is back in time for the City game otherwise Holding is going to have nightmare against Haaland.

I’m sure even Arteta did not expect Arsenal to win the league this season. He was building towards it but it is happening at least two years earlier.

You are right that I did not think Arsenal would win the league this season and I had my doubts until Arsenal picked up from where they left after the World Cup and the Jesus injury did not hurt their momentum.

From December onwards, I have been very clear about my prediction that Arsenal would win the league. I stick to that prediction. If you don’t have the bottle for it that is not my problem.

Besides, I do not have time for impatient fans like you who wanted Arteta sacked 12 months ago and were adamant that he will never take Arsenal forward.

He has already proved you wrong in spectacular fashion and if I were you, I would stop doubting his ability to see Arsenal over the line this season.

I have bookmarked all your posts in the Arteta thread and I will be bumping them all next month when Arsenal win the league.

Zinchenko and Xhaka have been absolutely crucial for Arsenal’s success so far. However, I would like Jorginho to get a few games now because he is more than capable of filling in for Xhaka and is extremely calm in possession.

At this stage, Arsenal needs to keep its head and Xhaka has managed to do that so far this season but as we saw at Anfield, he is a ticking time bomb. I think if he sits out for a few games it will help him clear his head.

Zinchenko can be defensively suspect and him playing as inverted left-back makes the left side vulnerable in defense but he has made Arsenal so effective in attack.

If Tierney was playing ahead of Zinchenko this season, there is no way Arsenal would be in the position they are today. They would be at least 10 points worse off.

There is no way Arteta or any capable manager would prefer Tierney to Zinchenko.

I really hope Saliba is back in time for the City game otherwise Holding is going to have nightmare against Haaland.

Man city last night against Bayern did exactly the same as what they did against Arsenal at the Emirates. they allowed the opposition to have more of the ball and they blocked off paces out into the wide areas, they double up on any player on the ball. They then were aggressive in trying to win the ball back when Bayern were in transition, meaning that if they won the ball their front 5 would out number Bayern players on the counter.

City exploited the gaps between both Bayern full backs when game got stretched, they will do the same against us at the Eithad. Unless Areta makes tactical tweeks for that game City will win game as their wide players will expose fact we don't cover space behind the full backs when we lose the ball in midfield.

The midfield 2 of stones and Rodri gives City back 3 extra protection and allows their front 5 to do as they want.

Our midfield will need to keep the ball a lot better then it did at Anfield for last 50 minutes. Oddegaard bottling out of 50:50 challenges and xhaka running around like a headless chicken won't help either.

I honestly don't see how we can get anything out of City game with how strong they are at home and how we still gift teams chances in games.

Your someone who wanted Athur melo as a midfield signing this summer a player who can't even get a game at Liverpool.

People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, so stop acting like Mr know it all.

Any more details? Do you predict a win at the Etihad or do you expect City to drop points? Are you expecting Arsenal to win every game from now on?

If City beat you and win the game in hand, how will you win the league?

I don’t see either Arsenal or City winning all their remaining games. It is not possible. The lead that Arsenal has will see them over the line.

The title race was settled when Arsenal took an 8 point lead in Dec-Jan, it gave them breathing space and the extra bit of cushion to absorb a dip in form and City improving their performance in the second half of the season.

Arsenal are too good a team this season to surrender an 8 point lead in the last 3-4 months of the season even if City do the double on them.

Here is my prediction for the remaining games - City are left with 9 matches and Arsenal are left with 8 matches.

City 7 wins, 1 draw, 1 defeat = 89 points
Arsenal 6 wins, 1 draw, 1 defeat = 92 points

Arsenal will pip City to the title and rival fans will burn like hot coal on Eid barbecue while the Arsenal fans who have no bottle and wanted Arteta out will be left licking their wounds.

Melo is a really good CM but Liverpool was the wrong move for him. Liverpool had an unsettled team this season and it wasn’t easy for him to acclimatize. In addition, he had a surgery a subsequent lengthy layoff for 3-4 months which didn’t help.

He would have been a really good squad option for Arsenal and Arteta would have utilized him better than Klopp did.

He would have had a similar impact to Jorginho whom you thought was a terrible player and should not have been signed.

I cant see you wining at City and imo City will not lose another game, perhaps draw one.

We will have to wait and see the conclusion of this drama.

City for the treble is on too. :)

Only game if any City will be dropping points in will be Arsenal. City will win the other games with relative ease.

Arsenal if they get a draw at eithad and ST James then they will win the rest then they will win the title.

Defeat at Eithad, plus man citys superior GD as well and Arsenal win end up second.

Arsenal need 6 points from next 2 games otherwise the game at Eithad becomes a must win game. No sloppiness in west ham game on Sunday.

I would be concerned if I was an Gooner, as Mamoom has a long history of failed predictions but I hope he is correct this time, as City winning again wouldnt be as exiting.

Everyone knows about his failed history predictions and him being being a flip flop, most of the time is just clickbait stuff to get attention.

All Arsenal fans want the team to do well, but a lot are also realistic and try to give a balanced view.

Arsenal's focus needs to be getting 6 points from next 2 games, as Man city will smash leicester at weekend.

Arsenal have reportedly reignited their interest in Wilfried Zaha as they eye up a free transfer for him in the summer.

The 30-year-old is set to depart Crystal Palace at the end of the season having yet to extend his stay at Selhurst Park.

Arsenal should like to sign Declan Rice for next season.

He won't come cheap but he's a better option than Xhaka in future.

100% a better player, even MNS at lazio is a better option as well.

When Arsenal's main midfield 3 don't perform the lack of other options is there for all to see, also the fact most of out midfielders are over 30, means we need a squad refresh. Also the dependence on partey staying fit needs to be addressed with better midfield options.

Jorginho has now become a decent player after you stated in Jan that he is terrible and Arsenal shouldn’t sign him. Beautiful.

Whatever you say or think, the reality is the polar opposite. If you think Arthur is a garbage player, then it means he is a very good player and he would have done well at Arsenal like Jorginho has.

Arsenal didn’t miss out because they signed Jorginho, but joining Arsenal last summer instead of Liverpool would have been good for his career.

Hopefully he can find the right club in the summer and get back to the level he showed at Barcelona.

Rice to Arsenal will happen, it seems inevitable. He will leave West Ham in the summer and he doesn’t want to leave London.

Chelsea is a complete mess right now and they have sold him previously. Arsenal is the perfect move for him.

It will be a huge signing - he is a future England captain and will probably captain Arsenal as well. Arsenal haven’t had a proper English talisman since Tony Adams.

Stop kidding yourself, your predictions are worse. 38 bowlers faster than Naseem was the classic in PP history.

Anyway, this time you have 50% chance, like tossing the coin but add another 10% as Arsenal have more points in the bank.

Instead of bookmarking use the search option.

But lets put your Baba Vanga prophecies to the test.

Please give us your full predictions for the remaining matches. Scores would be great too.

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has refused to agree with the sentiment that their upcoming clash against Manchester City is their ‘final’.

The Gunners remain top of the Premier League table with eight games to go, sitting six points clear of City.

Arsenal will face the reigning champions towards the end of April, a match that could prove pivotal in this season’s title race.

Despite the magnitude of occasion, Saka has called for his side to stay focussed on their games leading up to their trip to the Etihad Stadium.

He told the Arsenal website: “As players, we really want to do this. We know that everything is in our hands and we just have to keep going game by game.

“If we win these last eight games and get some good results, the title can be ours, so we just have to stay focused.

“It’s a long season and we have to be consistent all the way through, so that’s what we’ll try to do.”

Saka added: “I wouldn’t say [the Man City game] is the final, but maybe the semi-final because it’s massive, and so important as both teams are fighting at the top. It’s really close so it’ll be a massive game.”

I hope City can somehow tire themselves out with these CL games coming up. I actually hope they make the final. I know they have a big squad but I just hope they get distracted because deep down we all know Pep would opt for the UCL if he had to prioritise one tournament.

They totally destroyed Bayern and look a scary team to face. I have a feeling Arsenal will need to start well like they did against Anfield if they're going to get anything out of this game. Arteta has been terrific but I think he can improve on how he's used his subs a bit better with the timing and formation changes this season. The game at Liverpool wasn't an one off. Old Trafford also comes to mind.

Odegaard somehow always slips under the radar and goes unoticed for ghosting in such games. You were right to call him out for going missing in big away games. I've noticed this when it gets tough and physical. He doesn't seem to fancy putting his body on the line.

I just hope City will lose points when they have to travel away from home to play Fulham, Everton, Brighton and Brentford. I don't think they'll win all four of these games.

The debt Arsenal owe to Ramsdale!

The guy's contribution to AFC this season is phenomenal

==

Arteta on Ramsdale: "He has been really, really good and probably against the odd. When you look at his past and where he was coming from... he got relegated twice, it was difficult to imagine it".

"We saw he had character, charisma, personality to play for our club".

I think man city will complete the job vs Bayern and reach the CL semi finals, which means they are pretty much playing 3 games a week till end of the season, which means at somepoint they may need to rotate and depends where Pep choose to rotate.

Arsenal's best way to apply pressure is points on the board. That means we have to win are next two games, go to eithad 9 points clear (City will have 2 games in hand), the more we keep putting points on board, the number of games will decrease and room for dropping points becomes more pressure rised. I think Everton and Brighton maybe the 2 games city could find tough. But we need to get something from eithad, and in the league they have won 28 out of last 30 PL games so it's going to be a tough ask. CIty in league in Europe have clicked into gear and are scoring for fun. So we are going to have to find a way of conceding less chances in that game, we can't afford to give them as many chances at Liverpool got.

Oddegard last season I was critical on 2 points

- Decision making in final 3rd / not scoring enough goals (this season he's massively improved on that so fair play to him
- Going missing in Tough / Big away games (whilst this season hes got a few goals away from home, he just shirks the physical side of things when it gets tough and we tend to those lose control in midfield, as a captain you need to be prepared to put your foot in, for all the flair of City's midfield they ain't scared to be dirty when they need to)

We need to beat West ham on Sunday and win well. West ham do have attackers who can cause us issues, so we need to play like we have in all other away London derby's this season and win and keep another clean sheet.
