What's new

Arsenal FC | 2022/23 Season

Chelsea have hijacked the deal, it’s done. They’ve put ludicrous 100m on the table and Arsenal have walked away. Unbelievable

Like i said to you and few others on here we will see in january transfer window how Ambitious owners are and how good Edu is at his job. Arsenal identified Mudryk back in september as a target and start discussion in december once Jesus was injured, we are now in Mid january. Like i said penny pinching at its best.

Now what we will see is usual excuses oh well we didnt want to sign players just for sake of it and other targets were available in janaury.

If Man city or Man utd now will the league then Edu and Kronkes are to blame here. Pathetic owners and Clown DOF.

Arteta has over achieved with sqaud hes got and needed helped and the club has failed to back the manager.

That ***** Vinai opening his mouth a few days ago as well.

This club has zero ambition or proactivity.

Always putting all your eggs in one basket. Vlahovic Basket and now Mudryk Basket
. Approaching Panic buy time

Lol, never in my life have I written 1 post in defence of Edu :)))

But would you seriously sanction Arsenal splashing 3 figures on a kid with 13 career goals? 80m is pushing it, but 100m is utterly ridiculous. I cannot believe they would put that on the table.

We need to pivot quickly and get someone else in ASAP. That kind of money has to get us a better player

No ones is saying pay 100M, facts are they have been negotiating for 8 weeks and couldnt sort a deal, no other clubs takes this long at all. Knowing Arsenal they probably have no plan B. Not 1st time chelsea have done this to Arsenal either.

Arsenal should have made a serious offer ages ago and if shakthar said no they should have moved on.I doubt we will get any new players in before the United game next week.

You were so certain he was joining, well hows the egg on your face feel now?

Danilo to Nottingham Forest transfer: €20m fee 'agreed - Another Arsenal target gone.

Well done Edu, brilliant transfer window. Im sure he will be lighting BBQs and sucking his daughters Toes for rest of transfer window.

€100M.

If the vastly overpriced Mudryk would pick Chelsea over Arsenal at the moment, then he is an idiot along with his agent and you haven’t lost out there.

Arsenal could comfortably sign two better players (with spare change left over) for less than that ridiculous price.

Great chance for Arsenal to go well clear at the top tomorrow. City dropping more points.

Mudryk is overrated. Imagine paying £100 for a player that isn't even a guaranteed starter. Arsenal may have dodged a bullet.

It's not about the 100M, Edu started negotiations 8 weeks ago, Chelsea got transfer done in 3 hours. Half a TW wasted chasing a player making low ball offers. Same mistakes as last January. Arsenal should have made a serious offer ages ago and if shaktar said no, then moved on.

Same thing as last January chased 1 player all TW, made no signings and bottled top 4. If we bottle league here it's all on edu and kronkes again.

It is not that complicated.

Arsenal have made several “serious” offers, but Shakhtar was not in an urgency to sell. They would quote a price, Arsenal would make an offer & then they would quite a higher price. They have been playing this game all month.

Chelsea’s €100m offer was quickly accepted because they knew no one would top this right now & Mudryk was also desperate to leave. It is clear he wanted Arsenal but he also knew that Arsenal wouldn’t match Chelsea’s bid.

Mudryk would have been a great addition but it is not the end of the world. ESR is back & there is still plenty of time to add depth to the squad in this window.

Arsenal need to go for a loan signing now. Everyone now know they have money and they are desparate. This would mean exorbitant money for any player that they are gonna target.

Great chance for Arsenal to go well clear at the top tomorrow. City dropping more points.

It is not that they are playing relegation teams tomorrow. No matter the position in the table, Arsenal has a recent history of disintegrating in NLD away matches.

Only 3 of the last 30 NLD fixtures in the PL have been won by away side. Not exactly an easy game.

How are Chelsea financing this without Abhromovic oil money?

Dodgy business

Mudryk is a very good player but £100m is desperation stuff from Chelsea.

If we beat Tottenham today I will truly start to believe.

Cutting off your nose to spite your face type thing by Chelsea

Roman cleared all of chelseas debt when they were sold. FFP is based on how much debt you have over a 3 year period. Chelsea are basically on a zero balance sheet and make around 100Ms on comercial stuff and other things so they can easily throw around probably a billion in the next 3 years and will be within FFP.

Also they sign players on long contracts and long enstallments so again the cost per year of contract lengths is not much.

Egg on my face, LOL. Who do you think I am? I'm literally a fan that reads the same sources as everyone else. They were all confident that Arsenal were signing him, therefore I was.

Okay Nostradamus, where's your post saying that Chelsea would shoot themselves in the foot throwing 3 figures at Mudryk to hijack the deal? It doesn't exist because no one, including Potter himself, was expecting it. Todd Boehly is an idiot.

Back to the topic, Arsenal tried to do some actual negotiating to not overpay as Skakhtar kept increasing their price, which to be honest we were about to do anyway, but Chelsea came in and the rest is history.

This window is not the same as last year's. Not signing someone last winter was not actually a disaster, as panic buying a striker would have ruined the Jesus deal lined up for the summer and jeopardised the position we are in now. They chose the long term over the short term.

This window is different. Arteta has made it abundantly clear he wants that winger now, because we are fighting for the actual end goal right now. We can only hope Edu has a plan B to get someone else in, or he will have failed Arteta. We obviously have the funds (way more than last winter), they need to be used in the next 15 days.

Is FFP not clearly broken then? They spent 350m in the summer, another 100m now. 11m for just a 6-month loan. They were willing to put down 120 for Enzo Fernandez, who has done next to nothing in his career. It's ludicrous.

A very unwelcome distraction on the eve of the derby, we've still got the quality to win this.

This can be a blessing in disguise for Arsenal if Arteta and Edu make the right moves. 100 million for Mudryk was too much. Arsenal should go in for Marcus Thurram and Tielmans. Both out of contract end of season and can get them both for a combined cost of around 30 million. Thurram can play wing and up front what Arsenal need and Tielmans would be someone important as if Partey or Xhaka get injured Arsenal would collapse.

Hahahahahaha brilliant! :)))

Am laughing too

We are so so so good. Men vs boys. Conte is no match for Arteta I'm afraid, we are humiliating them on their own patch

This has been dominant 1st half, just need to not let spurs back in here.

spurs resorting to just kicking saka now, dirty team

Hes PL proven at least, bet hes regretting joining barca.

Another great save by ramsdale. we need to get a grip on ball here.

Romero should have been sent off there! poor refereeing, should have been a 2nd yellow.

Well done, Brilliant peformance.

8 point lead now, Man united next on the list

14th league title loading. 19 long years.

Arteta is winning the league in the Pep-Klopp era. What an achievement, what a manager.

Eggs on faces on everyone including certain Arsenal fans who wanted Arteta sacked. No patience, no clue about football.

Come on Arsenal! Come on Arteta! What a team we've got here

Unacceptable

Edu needs to do his job now and get another winger / striker and midfielder in so we have the sqaud depth to go all way for rest of season.

We are the best team in this league right now. The only thing that will stop this league title is our bench. Do your job Edu! Mikel is doing his

Edu and Vinai should be sacked if they dont give Arteta what they want. The owners need to splash the money while we are in a strong postion.

Partey was awesome again today and just shows we cant afford to him missing any games. Liverpool and chelsea have neglected rebuilding their midfields and that why they are poor now. We need to make sure we are adding to our all round strength in midfield.

90 points needs to be target here and just need to take it one game at a time.

Gabriel has been immense lately. He totally dominated Kane today, and there’s not been much bashing of him on here for a while, which can only be a good sign.

both CB were immense today and that always helps.

Also we look like any away game we will get something from a game. We lost 9 games away from home last season and 13 over. I said at start of season to see progress both those stats had to be halved if not better and looks like they will.

our home form last season was good and thats continued this season. To challenge in league you need to control and dominate games away from home which we are doing now.

That's not how FFP works, the debt being cleared doesn't really have relevance

FFP looks at revenue and then profit/loss based on that

It does seem like Chelsea were pushing close to their limit which is why they are doing the long contracts, the problem is if a player flops they are stuck with him for ages

If anyone didn't think Arsenal weren't genuine title contenders this season, then today's result should make them sit up and take note.

This Arsenal side may not be as strong as some of the great Arsenal teams of the past, but they are still a very useful team.

Despite today's result and City's loss, I'm not changing my stance that their title winning chances are still slim. Technically, Arsenal have played less than half of the season, so still long way to go with 20 games remaining.

While most Arsenal fans on this thread believe they have a good chance, most are still realistic as they realise the challenges ahead.

Best DM in the PL? I feel it's between him and Casemiro. Rodri has tailed off this season.

Who would you prefer to win the PL out of City and Arsenal?

On verge of joining? The deal looks like being hijacked by Chelsea, lets hear you excuses if it happens!

Relax. Why should Arsenal pay 100m for a Martinelli backup?

We need a number 9 and CDM - which is why I'm miffed about Felix going to Chelsea instead. We should be more annoyed about not prioritising these spots.

Ooooh, that's a tough one since I'm not inclined for either. Perhaps Arsenal cos I like the fact its mainly youthful exuberance that's driving them forward.

However, Mamoon has challenged me on this so I can't back out now. :sendoff

Arsenal have made contact with Barcelona to explore deals for Brazil winger Raphinha, 26, and Spain forward Ferran Torres, 22. (90min)

Barcelona have put a 100m euro (£88.7m) price tag on Raphinha, who moved to the Nou Camp from Leeds in July. (Sport)

Arsenal are interested in signing Real Valladolid's Spanish right-back Ivan Fresneda, 18. (Telegraph)

Manchester United and Arsenal will compete to sign Brazilian winger Luiz Henrique, 22, from Real Betis. (Fichajes)

They are 8 points clear at pretty much the halfway stage, not relied on luck so not like it's a false position.

If this was City of previous seasons I would understand saying it's slim but we've seen that City with Haaland aren't the same side, number of games already where they are hardly testing the keeper, it's all very predictable. Plus they are vulnerable in defence even though the officials screwed them yesterday.

This City side don't have it in them to win 10+ matches on the bounce and that's what it would need to overtake Arsenal.

Arsenal are favourites as things stand.

Man City normally top the 90 points mark most seasons and win the league. They have 39 points from 18 games.

So to get to 90 points

City need 51 from a possible 60 left
United and newcastle need 52 from a possible 60 left
Arsenal need 43 from a possible 60 left

City, United and Newcastle would probably need to win 16 or 17 of their last 20 games. City are capable of doing that.

"If" Arsenal won 14 or 15 of the last 20 that takes us above 90 points

All still to play for yet.

City has to play Arsenal home and away

They can bank on clawing back 6 points considering results of the last few years

Not against this team.

Even last year City won at Emirates only coz of some dodgy refereeing. Odegard penalty was not given, Rodri escaped atleast 5 yellow cards after getting a yellow earlier, Gabriel given his marching orders etc. Still City only beat 10 men Arsenal through last minute injury time goal by Rodri of all people.

Mate, lets be real for a second; you will butcher Arsenal 24/7 for the next 10 years if they lose from here.

They are in a very strong position and the numbers are indicating a league triumph, it will take a big choke to lose their grip on the title.

This City side will not get 90 points, absolutely no chance

It will take less to win the league though I think Arsenal can hit 90+ points

We aren't getting to 80 points so you can discount us
