What's new

Arsenal FC | 2022/23 Season

It seems Rashford has killed Ben White season. Time for Tomiyasu, deals aeriel challenges well too.

1-0 Everton fully deserved, better side. What the hell was oddegard doing there.

Pickford not even had a save to make. Worst performance of the season again at everton

Oddegard taken off, his fault on the goal being the weakling that he is

1-0 Everton pathetic performance, literally got bullied all game.

Awful from Arsenal.

Makes me wonder whether we lost the game because:

a) Goodison Park is our bogey ground
b) Lost momentum following the defeat to City last week
c) Or it's just an one-off defeat against a rejuvenated Everton side

Worst 45 min from Arsenal this season. Lucky not being atleast 2 nil down. Created absolutely nothing.

Spoke too soon. Second half, they managed to go down even further. This is not like any other smash and grab. Arsenal did not have ANY clear cut chances. All of them were poor.

Arsenal dropped 5 points against Everton and Southampton, relegation battlers. Lets see if that is decisive at the end of the season.

3 season in a row Arsenal saves its worst performance of season for Goodison Park. 1 win, 1 draw and 5 defeats in last 7 visits. Pathetic performance.

City will be scenting blood now.

Brentford at home won't be Easy next week either.

Onana and gueye bullied our midfield entire game today. Once Partey went off it shows home poor physically and lack of mobility in midfield. Xhaka and Jorginho is slow as hell, Vieira coming on was waste of time.

We can't afford to lose city now, all this we played well n lose vs City can't happen.

TBF, Partey was poor in first half.

Ashura has come early for Amjid Javed I just knew it :)))

Poor that from Arsenal.

Didn't fancy it in the middle of the park did they.

It was like a performance of the recent past where they got outfought and bullied.

As soon as some lays a few tackles on oddegaard he always then goes missing. Everton exposed Arsenal physical and through transition with the ball. Just like city game last week as soon as Arsenal went 1-0 down they ran out of ideas.

He had a bad game but you're going overboard with your criticism of him. This season he's been really good. According to some, he's taken KDB's spot as the best playmaker in the league.

He deserves criticism today, as do partey and xhaka were all poor. Add to that it was oddegaards fault on goal, getting out muscled on corner. More teams will now start doing this in away games.

Brentford will be just as physical next week.

Half a good season doesn't mean he's over taken KDB, those thinking they have are being daft.

Minor blip, Mamoon told us the title is already won. It will be signed, sealed and delivered come May.

Yeah will be interesting to see if he still has the same confidence about us winning the title now.

Both teams have 18 games left now, so 90 points for whoever wins title is likely still. Arsenal can't afford to lose either game vs City now. Unless Arsenal get over mental hurdle of being able to beat city. Then they will win title again.

Brentford next week is now a real test. Concern about city can wait.

He can't renege now. The gauntlet was thrown down.

Gunners still in the driving seat so he has some credit in the bank.

Arsenal are reportedly planning another raid on Brighton to prise Japanese winger Kaoru Mitomo away from the Amex Stadium in a £35million deal.

The 25-year-old has been one of the standout players since the World Cup break – scoring five goals in all competitions.

Mitoma has found the back of the net in his last three matches, where he fired in a late winner to send the Seagulls through to FA Cup fifth round at the expense of Liverpool.

And he also scored a dramatic goal at the death in Brighton’s 1-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday to send his side sixth in the table.

It should come as no surprise that the forward is attracting interest ahead of the summer, with journalist Fabrizio Romano writing in CaughtOffside that he is on the Gunners’ radar.

Mikel Arteta got a close-hand look at the 13-cap international when he fired in past Aaron Ramsdale in Arsenal 4-2 win over Brighton on New Year’s Eve.

Mitoma, who cost Brighton just £2.7m from Japanese club Kawasaki Frontale in 2021, also had a late goal ruled out by VAR against the north Londoners.

Romano declared the Premier League table-toppers will have to fork out at least £35m for Mitoma’s signature.

He said: “I think top clubs know that Kaoru Mitoma priority is now to focus on Brighton and not on any big move yet.

“For sure he’s already worth more than £35m but it’s not time for negotiations at this stage.

“It’s more top recruitment from Brighton, they’ve unearthed another gem who is in great form at the moment.”

Arsenal raided Brighton in January after signing Belgian winger Leandro Trossard for a fee rising to £27m.

And they tried in vain to land midfielder Moises Caicedo after having two bids of £60m and £70m knocked back late in the winter window.

The Ecuadorian took to social media to beg Brighton to sell him, leading the south coast side to tell Caicedo to stay away from training until after the market closed.

It remains to be seen whether the club’s relationship has been affected by Arsenal’s pursuit of the player after Brighton made it clear he was not for sale at any price.

Prior to Trossard’s arrival last month, Arsenal forked out £50m to bring Ben White to the Emirates from Brighton in 2021.

Brighton are on course to secure European qualification for the first time in their history.

As for Arsenal, they look set to return to the Champions League having failed to play in Europe’s premier competition since the 2016/17 season.

Spurs have done Arsenal huge favour here winning 1-0 vs Man city.

Arsenal dropping points hasnt been punished. 5 point lead with game in hand (vs Everton at home)

Arsenal need to get back on it vs Brentford and get 3 points, no more mishaps.

Spurs continue to be Guardiola's bogey side (especially at their new home ground).

I'm so relieved City haven't cut the gap to 2 points.

People on this forum don’t know the first thing about football. Do people expect Arsenal to win every game?

They will draw some, lose some. It’s football. The bottom-line is that Arsenal will finish with 90+ points and win the league.

As I said earlier, the Arsenal fans who still doubt the inevitable have no right to rejoice when Arsenal lift the trophy in May.

I don't know about you but I was nervous watching the game given how much possession City had during the game but surprised they didn't create more chances. Haaland was so isolated. He didn't even have a single attempt on goal.

Lets hope we haven't lost momentum and confidence after losing 2 games on the trot.

Nothing will happen. I remember similar celebrations when Arsenal lost at OT in September and how it was supposed to derail Arsenal’s season.

Arsenal is the best team in the country this season. They are also the most resilient. Don’t be nervous and don’t be influenced by the rival fans who have been crying left right and center since MW 1.

Mamoon is only one that was getting carried away. All other fans know that this is long season and city are favourites.

City is a nothing team this season. Arsenal will take care of them at the fortress. Stop being scared.

If Arsenal can win their next 2 league games against Brentford and City, I'd say our chances of winning the title are 70-80%.

Nothing to do with scared, Arsenal have a mental block vs City.

Last 11 PL meetings - CIty have won all 11 games, Arsenal have scored 3 goals in those 11 games. Most other PL sides have drawn or beaten City in their last 11 fixtures against them. So unless this pathetic record changes then CIty are Favouries for game at Emirates, they have won on their last 5 visits and with ease on most occasions.

Let's deal with Brentford 1st, we need to regain confidence after the FA Cup and the league defeat. We can't afford to go into City game struggling to score like last 2 games.

Spoke too soon. Arsenal have it in the bag but you can keep crying.

But you always speak late, go into hiding, and then make an appearance when the result suits you.

Paraphrasing those sports website is a skill after all.

The last 11 meetings have zero relevance to what happens this season. This is a different Arsenal team.

11 PL meetings is 5 seasons. Arsenal no longer have bums like Aubameyang, Lacazette, Ozil, Mustafi, Leno, Cech, Willian, Chamberlain, Mkhitaryan, Sokratis, Bellerin etc.

Last season, Arsenal went toe to toe with City at the Emirates. City were outplayed and they were extremely lucky to escape with a win. In fact, that performance was the spark that Arsenal needed and it was beginning of this glorious era.

As I said, you can keep crying. Your lack of football knowledge has already been exposed numerous times and you have zero credibility.

Arsenal and Arteta have already proved you wrong in humiliating fashion and I am surprised that you still have the audacity to comment on football after what happened at the World Cup.

Being wrong about everything is a skill that you have mastered.

Massive let off this weekend

The only team that had a let off this weekend is City. They are lucky to not be 8 points behind Arsenal with the latter having a game in hand.

City cannot play against Spurs. They were actually lucky to beat them 4-2 at home few weeks back after being 2-0 down. It was a game that Spurs should have won.

Stop raving on about 1 good half of football against man city last season. Facts are we lost that game 2-1. Played well and lost. Spurs beat City home and away last season and your hyping up a good 1st half In a defeat, get yourself a sense of reality and context.

So until results change that mental block will get there. Playing well and losing ain't something to do bhangra over like you are.

Damn you City and Pep! You've let Mamoon back in who's having rip roaring time tonight. :))

It's back to equilibrium before the game weeks started. Still all to play for.

Put your pom poms and light bulbs away and stop over hyping on stuff while doing bhangra.

Arsenal fans have proved you wrong so many times on PP that I literally have to say nothing.

The less said about your predictions the better.

You only come out of the wood works when Arsenal win or salvage a points deficit.

Mamoon and Technics 1210

After City it will be Villa away which I think will be another tough test with old boss Unai Emery out for blood. shaz619

Well their North London rivals have done them a favour tonight by beating Man City.

Still 5 points clear at the top!

We have tough fixtures this month. Brentford have done well against all big sides this season, then we have City, followed by Villa and Leicester away. City play Bournemouth and forest after Arsenal game. So Arsenal can't afford to lose to City with way fixtures are.

Arsenal fans who are arrogantly predicting that they have already won the league must remember that they still have to play Man City twice in the league. Now, Arsenal fans may say that Man City aren't the team they were last season. But they beat Arsenal in the FA Cup last week. And before any Arsenal try telling me that FA Cup doesn't matter. Remember that FA Cup is your competition and Arsenal are the most successful team in that competition's history.

It is not the loss but the way they lost that concerns me. Couple of physical tackles at the start of the game from Everton threw Arsenal off the rail from which they never recovered. They stopped going for 50-50 balls , build up became painfully slow, failed miserably in passing around opponent press etc. Throwback to old times against Bolton, Blackburn, Stokes etc. Every other dropped points this season ( Man U, Sou and NC ), Arsenal were the better team. This game, Everton could have won 3-0 and there would have been no complaints. In short, this is not just any other loss. I hope they recover.

FA Cup doesn’t matter for that precise reason. Arsenal is the most successful club in the competition and Arteta has already won it as a manager.

Winning another FA Cup this season would have meant nothing for the club. This is why Arteta rested a few key players even though they were playing against Man City.

In fact, Europa doesn’t matter either at this point. The only purpose of that competition is to qualify for the CL and that is already in the bag for Arsenal.

It is all about winning the league this season, strengthening the squad and having another go at the league and CL next season. Arsenal is where Liverpool were in 2017-18 - on the verge of greatness.

The next 3-4 years will be beautiful but I hope Arteta manages the transition period better than Klopp.

Arsenal fans remember that they are yet to play City in the league, but I hope City and the non-Arsenal fans who cannot digest Arsenal winning the league remember it as well.

Arsenal is better than City this season. The results prove it, the football proves it. Being 5 points behind a superior team (who have a game in hand) when you are yet to play them twice is not a good position to be in.

As I said, please keep crying. It is more entertaining than Arsenal winning the league this season. Don’t worry, I will bump your gems from a year back in May.

This season has been an absolute nightmare for you so I can understand your frustration. Messi winning the World Cup, Ronaldo getting benched in the World Cup, Ronaldo going to Saudi and flopping. Arsenal winning the league with Arteta at the helm. Oh my. :)))

City have a mental block vs Spurs away when they play them. Yet at same time you then ignore fact CIty hand out regular defeats to Arsenal in same fashion.

Put your pom poms and light bulbs away and stop over hyping on stuff while doing bhangra.

That is because Spurs and City have not changed much in terms of personnel. The core of the squads have remained the same. There is definitely a mental block there.

On the contrary, Arteta has completely revamped the Arsenal team. The players, the tactics, the mindset are completely different now than what they were 3-4 years back, so the mental block and the impact of past results have no influence at all.

If Spurs spend like Chelsea and revamp their squad, they could win the league in spite of their reputation as a team that always falls short and bottles in the end.

Reputation and past results have zero significance as long as you shed the players who have contributed towards that reputation.

Mamoon bhai, easy ho jao. Abhi dilli door hai

But we are inching closer and closer now

The title race was over when Arsenal beat Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea in quick succession and City had a stutter.

The point difference is very significant and City are not playing well at all. Arsenal is the better team this season and Pep has already mentally accepted that they cannot catch them.

The 19 year wait is over. At least it didn’t stretch to 30 years…

Stop classifying Arsenal fans as arrogant, no one except Mamoon is acting like the title race is done. Every knows what Mamoon is like with his wild predictions (once in a blue moon - no pun intended) he gets something right.

All normal Arsenal fans are focusing on a Brentford next game which won't be easy. They have already caused damaged to most top 6 teams this season.

Seem like your looking for an excuse to troll Arsenal fans based on one fans prediction. He doesn't represent the clubs entire fan base.

Leeds and Southampton did the same thing this season. I few tough tackles and oddegaard showed zero stomach for the battle. Also xhaka lack on mobility was exposed as Evertons midfield had power and pace. Onana schooled Partey on Saturday as well. This is why long term we need to sign players like onana / caciedo and also a more mobile number 8 the xhaka.

Brentford will use same tactics on Saturday, difference is they have Ivan Toney and if he gets the chances that Everton had he will put them away.

3 games now this year we have failed to score in and, these are games where chances are limited chances come a long and Arsenal need to be more clinical

3 Times in a row Everton have beat Artetas Arsenal at goodison. Ever Dyches teams caused Arsenal problems again vs Arteta. Massive improvement needed vs team with low blocks / physicality as seems in these games are midfield goes missing.

Wild prediction would have been stating that Arsenal would win the league before the start of the season.

There is nothing wild about predicting that Arsenal will win the league based on now the season has panned out. They have been the best team in the league by some distance.

There is no evidence that they will capitulate. It is just the fear of some Arsenal fans who have no faith in the team and were calling for Arteta to be sacked last season and the the opposition fans who cannot stomach Arsenal’s success.

The only wild prediction is assuming that City will leapfrog Arsenal. A baseless assumption that is not backed by anything that we have seen this season. We have been hearing this ** since August and not once has City leveled the points tally.

Also, there is no absolutely no evidence that City will take 6 points off Arsenal based on how they teams have played this season. Results from previous seasons when Arsenal was a completely different outfit in terms of personnel, tactics, mentality, fitness etc. mean nothing.

Arsenal fans who wanted Arteta to be sacked and are still doubting their title credentials have no right to celebrate and rejoice when Arsenal lift the trophy in May.

Width of Goodison Park have played a major part. Everything were congested. Arsenal could not isolate their players. Could not provide width for attack. Just saying it is not necessary Brentford could do the same at a wider Emirates pitch. My concern is about the psychological impact of this loss.

Bro I remember the days when you had Misbah as your display pic. The point is Misbah supporters should be the last people on Earth to be trolling fans of any sports team who perform at a high standard when you consider the number of times Misbah embarrassed the Pakistan cricket team.

Other than Mamoon, no one has claimed we have already won the league yet you keep parroting this like a broken record.

You make your trolling obvious for everyone to see with your last sentence because it makes no sense. Arsenal are only pursuing the PL. This is evident by the fact that most of the players who started the FA Cup against Man City were reserve players (Turner, Tomiyasu, Holding, Tierney, Vieria and Trossard).

In previous seasons, Arsenal placed greater importance on the FA Cup because we were not in the title race so it was our only realistic chance of securing silverware. If this is too difficult to grasp then I suggest changing role models because your hero Misbah was never the sharpest tool in the shed and his fans also exhibit his low IQ and awareness.

Man city in trouble for FFP breaches, hope they get points deducted this season.
