What's new

Arsenal FC | 2022/23 Season

Mamoon had the door ajar after Arsenal equalised against City ready to tell us title was sealed, he's now peaking in again after Arsenal equalised here. :91: He'll be frantically hoping for the victory as another draw here won't be any good.

Edit: Villa take the lead. :)))

More pathetic defending this time by white, 2 shambolic goals given away.

The Troll is back under his bridge, he deserves egg on his face for stupid predictions.

The recent drop off in our defending is just inexplicable. Went from the 2nd least goals conceded in the league to championship level. How did this happen?

Xhaka, zinchenko, oddegard trash again just like the last 3 games.

Get ESR and martinelli, Tierney on 2nd half

Arteta persisting with passengers in the team.

This is quite the capitulation.

They've gone from seeming almost invincible to their very worst selves of previous seasons

People were comparing Oddegaard to KDB

Captain has gone AWOL again just like last season when going gets tough

Good lord, Arsenal will be pulled into a top 4 fight with NewCastle, Spurs and possibly Brighton. I blame Sean Dyche

Played far better in the 2nd half, goal has been coming. KEEP IT GOING, DON'T STOP. Win the game.

Saka gets kicked to kingdom come every single match, spends half his games hobbling. Yet opposition full backs consistently escape yellow cards. What a strange coincidence.

OMG! Title's in the bag, its done. In before Mamoon beats me to it.

3 points, not sure how we did it. The rot has been stopped at least

Superb game and a superb result!

Viera coming in was superb
Jorginho was also superb.

Finally Saliba started using his size and strength,

White was great in the second half too.
His overlapping was excellent.

CYOG

Amjid Javed did you at least feel a bit of joy at the end there :) What a game, nothing comes close to football.

Come on boys!!! That's mentality, kept going till the last!

What a win!

I was going through a emotional rollercoaster throughout the whole game.

Arsenal deserved the win. We created way more clear cut chances.

When Nketiah hit the bar and when Odegaard missed a sitter, I thought we had bottled it.

What a strike by Jorginho - he deserves the goal but we'll take it from Martinez's head :))

He should play ahead of Xhaka, when Partey is back.

Commiserations to all my fellow Pakistanis in Birmingham :)

3 points in bag but that's papered over some cracks

Xhaka, oddegard, Eddie were all useless once again. Our midfield needs to seriously buck it's ideas up and improve. The sooner Jesus is back for Eddie the better.

Yes this has been happening all season.
Ridiculous refereeing allows this to happen game after game.

I can understand if the players are given a wardning but then to just go the whole game fouling him like that is unacceptable

Saka got manhandled and he himself wanted to be substituted around 55 min, but continued. Shows how good back up options are.

Odeguard was actually very very good in the second half apart from the missed chance.

Xhaka is getting older now and remember they played City just 60 odd hours ago and then had travel to Villa. He's been brilliant this season and Arteta made the right call to sub him when he did.

Eddie, well there is nothing I can add here.
Pitty Jesus is missing and hopefully we can buy a top class finisher in the summer.

Also shows the talent and mentality of the boy we have on our hands. Was the best of the 22 players on the pitch before and after that. Whoever is at Hale End deserves a massive pay rise for this guy.

Zinchenko was lucky he got a goal today as he was another whose performances have been poor since the man utd game.

Eddie needs to be dropped for the leicester game, hes had 2 good games since hes come into the side, same as what he did at end of last season. Otherwise hes been useless and missing sitters galore. We need a better striker signed in summer.

That was an enjoyable game to watch, some good goals and end to end football

For Arsenal it was vital they won, that run of games without winning needed to end and end it did

I do think this City side has more dropped points in them so it's important Arsenal keep pushing because I have a feeling they will get a chance to build a small lead at some point, they just need to make sure they take it

I think the Leicester game will be tougher because they're in better form. Beat Spuds 4-1 last weekend and in the game before that they also beat Villa 4-2 at Villa Park.

Leicester games are always tough and are always open games, we need to be clinical as its likely to be open like the villa game, therefore we need we need to be clinical and eddie simply is not the man to do the job

Trossard-Martinelli-Saka front 3 needs to be tried.

I agree.

Whilst Nketiah has come leaps and bounds from where he was 12 months ago, he's not good enough to be our regular CF. He's a good option to have on the bench and for the FA Cup and League Cup games.

Yeah it's time Arteta gives Martinelli a go in the number 9 position.

An open game will certainly suit us if we can defend a bit better and be more clinical. If you look at Villa's second goal, it was well worked by them but the press from Arsenal was simply non-existent.

If Partey is back, I really hope Jorginho takes Xhaka's spot because he's been so good so far whereas the latter's levels have dropped.

Odegaard was better today but when I look at that miss I do wonder whether he's got the mentality to get us over the line in the pivotal moments of the season.

Saka, Jorginho, Odegaard, Zinchenko, White were all key in that 2nd half, that's how we maintained control and sustained wave after wave of attack, creating countless clear cut chances to miss. Forget 4, we could have scored 10. The finishing was the issue, not the play before it.

Despite the miss of the season, he marshaled the right hand side that was so dangerous, and put 2 on a plate for Eddie and Gabriel to miss.

The Saka-White-Odegaard triangle down the right was relentless, it wore Villa down. We frequently we were taking very quick short corners, getting the ball back into play immediately after it going out and never giving Villa a moment to regroup or take a breather. A very intentional and smart ploy to remain relentless.

Defensively we were suspect yet again, I can't understand where the sloppiness has come from. Was very disappointed with Saliba on that 1st goal but he improved after. We have to commend the match-saving last-ditch tackle from Gabriel, and the match-saving save from Ramsdale. 2 outstanding moments.

A word on Jorginho too, he has proven already to be a very effective acquisition despite everyone's objections. Has come into a high-pressure, high-intensity environment and done his job commendably.

Xhaka and Eddie were passengers once more, both need to be dropped. I'd bring in Tierney at LB and move Zinchenko up, he plays there anyway. Task Tierney with replacing Xhaka's attacking contribution with his overlapping, bring a different dimension to the side.

Yes we this win papered over some cracks, but the fact is that everyone expected Arsenal to bottle this game at 2-1 down in the context of the season and our recent form, and they proved us wrong. A massive win for the confidence, momentum and mentality of the side.

Onto Leicester, COYG.

If City win today, we're level on points with a game in hand. We've got an easier run of fixtures coming up, just need to remain calm and stay within touching distance of them.

Hopefully we can take Jesus and Partey to the Etihad in 2 months time and anything can happen.

Obviously City are the clear favourites, but we will never win a title if we give up halfway after a bad patch. It ain't over til it's over, got to scrap to the last minute of the last game.

The most worrying thing from the last 3 games is as soon as the game has gone to a level score, there seems to be a complete lack of composure from us defensively and in midfield. Reason we lost vs Man city was because there seems to be this urgency to force passes in defensive areas and in midfield, Arsenal need to learn that at points like this in a game, you need to slow game down and calm things down and regain control. The naivety in situations like this really needs to improve.

Also attacks down the left hand side have just completely become poor, Zinchenko takes to many touches and is to slow in getting forward, xhaka always wants 2 or 3 touches on the ball and then seems to want to play ball in side. Even with trossard in side today he got very little service and this tactically is shambles and needs to be improved on. Xhaka may have improved from other seasons but as soon as you take partey out of team he looks out of his depth. Rice, Bellingham, MNS, Onana need to be looked at upgrades.

I agree, it wasn't a great run of late from Arsenal but you've won today in adversity which was huge

I think you need to try and forget about the first half of the season and just treat this like a mini season in it's own right

Any idea when Jesus is back, thay could be the title difference?

Jesus is back doing some work in training, but mainly on his own. I think Maybe mid march we may see him back, thats just me guessing,

Leicester (A)
Everton (H)
Bournemouth (H)
Fulham (A)
Palace (H)
Leeds (H)

Next 6 games, we need to be doing what we did at start of season and winning pretty much all these games in reality if we want to push City.

City slipping up, title race is very much on

This City side don't have it in them to go on long winning runs

Your Fav player scored for Forrest as well, you must be missing him.

If it stays a draw, certain poster may come out of hiding :))

Wow, I didn't expect City to slip up. I was watching the game and it was all City then out of nowhere Forest scored.

Guys I think Mamoon is about to re-enter the stage :))

As he would say, stay tuned!

Your thoughts now?

Your thoughts now?

City still favourites. But with Arsenals next 6 fixtures on paper we need to be looking at near enough maximum points going into a very tough looking April

Leicester (A)
Everton (H)
Bournemouth (H)
Fulham (A)
Palace (H)
Leeds (H)

Your thoughts now?

Unchanged! I remain composed just as the team should be :)

We know City are a regular title-chasing side just like us this season, not the 100-point City of yesteryear. There is no 15-win streak around the corner that the media are so desperately teasing. As I've maintained, they are our equals in tactical and technical quality.

What separates them from us is their players have done it before, ours have not. Mentality. That's advantageous in one sense, as Guardiola has said many times recently, in that our players are hungrier than theirs. But mainly, it means they are less likely to lose their bottle.

We will likely drop just as many points as City will, and vice versa, such that the 2 teams will be in touching distance of one another on the 26th April when we meet again. City are favourites to win that game, as they showed a few days ago, but if we can take Partey and Jesus there, anything can happen!

Focus is on Leicester now.

It could have been Arsenal losing or draw and a City win today. What a fluctuating day !!! To make my week, need Leicester to take points from Utd tomorrow. And Liverpool win against Newcastle could be bonus 😎

So the brentford draw was cancelled out by the Forrest draw.

Lets hope Arsenals win today will kick start a winning run like start of the season. We have won on last 2 visits to Leicester so we need to do that again next week.

I believe Mamoon and AJ are alter egos of same man

Nah Bro, ive been on PP since 2004, Same length of time as GA and i will always state what i think on cricket and Sports forums, and even if i am wrong i will still be here. I dont run off like a certain poster who when hes wrong, doesnt have integrity or decency to take it like a man when hes wrong.
