Arsenal FC | 2023/24 Season

Jurrien Timber has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury to his right knee and will have surgery in the coming days, Arsenal have confirmed.

Timber, 22, limped off the pitch in the 50th minute of the Gunners' 2-1 victory against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The Netherlands international signed from Ajax for £34m last month.

In a statement, Arsenal said Timber "will be out of action for a period of time" and that they will support his recovery.
He won't play at all this season.

Back to kiwor and crychenko at LB

Ben White at RB, Tomiyasu will get injured as usual

Very unfortunate for Timber.

Arsenal are back to square one. They might as well go in for Mguire. He isn’t the worst to have as a replacement CB

🤣🤦‍♂️ Maguire.

All you would here from most of the fan base is

He was misused at united.

We are getting the England and Leicester maguire

Arteta will turn him into barest

If Arteta wants him I want him

The Fraudeta fan boys would spin ever more 💩, they have off the back of 💩havertz signing.

No thanks 🤦‍♂️

What options do you have this late? You need a proper CB to partner Saliba

CB is the least of our worries right now.

We have White, saliba, Gabriel and kiwor who can all play CB.

The issue once again is going to be the fact at somepoint tomiyassu will get injured and crychenko can't stay fit and Tierney is out of favour.

Knowing Arteta he will just keep playing partey at RB.

Right now with Timber out for season we are pretty much in a situation where Rice has replaced xhaka and in terms of outfield players we still have very poor squad depth.

That's on Fraudeta. Still no back up for saka, still no elite striker. Jesus can't stay fit and Eddie isn't good enough. Saka will end up burnt out again come march.

Another trophyless season on its way and let's see if owners actually have accountability and sack the fraud managing the club if its 4 seasons without a trophy.

Unless edu pulls his finger out and sells all unwanted players, Arsenal won't be signing anyone else.

Don't be shocked if ESR is sold to balance books due to fact edu is failing at selling anyone else.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says there are "no number ones" in his squad after signing goalkeeper David Raya.

The 27-year-old has signed from Brentford on a season-long loan which could be made permanent.

Arteta is hoping to increase competition in his goal with Raya challenging England keeper Aaron Ramsdale.

"To be better [as a team], the environment has to be better," Arteta said.

Ramsdale, 25, kept 14 clean sheets last season as Arsenal finished runners-up to Manchester City, but Arteta said he hoped Raya's arrival and greater competition for places in his squad will lift his players to improve their level of performance.

"When you have to be at 100% every day, believe me, your level increases," the former Everton and Real Sociedad midfielder said.

"We have two great goalkeepers, just like we have two great left wingers, two great holding midfielders, two great strikers. There is no number one - not in any position."

Defender Jurrien Timber requires surgery on his injured ACL he sustained in the opening day win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

"What happened to Jurrien can happen to anyone. If Aaron [Ramsdale] did his cruciate, we have to be prepared and proactive. Now, we have two excellent goalkeepers who exactly fit our model."

Arsenal star Declan Rice has claimed that Gabriel Martinelli blew him away in training right after he joined the club last month.

The Englishman has been around in the Premier League for a long time now. He has trained with plenty of top-quality players in the England setup, but he says he was shocked to see Martinelli.

Theo Walcott officially retires. I was one of his biggest fans because when he joined Arsenal, that’s when I got into football and Arsenal as a kid. Followed him closely ever since, hence my username on PP.

Unfortunately he didn’t live up to his potential or the hype that first started but still did very well to have such a long career at Premier-league level and score over 100 goals for Arsenal as a winger; including hat trick against Croatia for England.

Great character and a career he can be happy with, happy retirement Theo.

Theo! Theo! Theo!

Gabriel possibly been linked to joining a team in Saudi.

0-0 after 29 minutes, zero cutting edge from Arsenal. Nketitah offering nothing up front.

lots of slow two touch passing which Is just let palace keep their shape.

Palace looking to expose Arsenal full backs when they can

Nketitah through 6 yards out and misses a sitter 💩

Get trossard on over this 🤡

0-0 HT

Nketitah up front doesn't work, kills the whole fluidity of the attack and reduces chances created.

Then when it come along he misses a sitter.

If Palace get the 1st goal in this game Arsenal will be in trouble.

Very average 1st half.

Oddegard gives Arsenal lead from penalty spot.

0-1

Anyone know if havertz is even playing or just the team mascot 💩 waste of 65M

Tomiyasu red card, already on a yellow and pulls his man back 🤦‍♂️ liability all the time.

And Arsenal down to 10 men! going to be really interesting now. can Palace equalise with 22 mins left

Tomiyasu red card, already on a yellow and pulls his man back 🤦‍♂️ liability all the time.
I think the decision was really harsh. didn't deserve a yellow for that
but it makes for an interesting game

Gabriel mags on for Martinelli.

What the hell is 💩vertz still on for 🤦‍♂️

Why is it harsh? you pull someone back its a yellow card.

Just plain dumb from Tomiyasu

At same time ayew pulling back saka before that should have been a yellow (2nd) and a red to

Jorginho on for Eddie.

So havertz upfront 🤦‍♂️

Just get trossard on

There was barely any contact, and imo did not look like a pull to me. but honestly, im not complaining. it makes for fun football

Sometimes you have to win ugly and that's what Arsenal did tonight.

Difficult place to go to Selhurst Park.

Good result that for Arsenal.

FT - scrappy 1-0

3 points. The lack of creativity and cutting edge needs to massively improve

2 unconvincing wins so far, but 6 points on the board nonetheless. Gabriel has to come back in the side for Havertz, we need Partey in the heart of midfield controlling the ball again and Rice to move further up the pitch and impact the game more. Our best moments were when Rice was making forward runs.

Trossard ESR Havertz Nelson on the bench provides good attacking reinforcements needed.

I cannot believe that Tomi sending off at all. The 1st yellow card he "timewasted" for barely 8 seconds, the actual culprit was Havertz. And the 2nd yellow card he barely touched Ayew, forget pulling. Ayew's shirt never left his body, it's a pathetic (but smart) dive from a guy who had just escaped a red himself when he actually pulled Saka to the ground. Have some consistency FGS.

Fulham at home next, then man united at home.
Important to get in a commanding performance against Fulham to take some confidence into the United game. They are there for the taking just like last year, especially at home.

Trossard our best player in 2nd half of season is getting zero game time, nor is ESR or Nelson. These players will just be left undercooked again when it's required most.

The fact the 💩vertz and nketitah are in team ahead of trossard is a shambles.

Havertz ran around like a headless chicken and nketitah offered zero link up play then missed sitters.

A fantastic win last night!

To come away with three points at Selhurst Park when you're down to ten men with 30 minutes to go shows real character and again instils a winning mentality in the team.

Superb

I feel already exhausted mentally! and this was just the 2nd game we played haha!

Damn MIG, a decade later and I find out today you support Arsenal too lol.

Crucial 3 points for Arsenal yesterday. I think right now it’s all about getting 3 points, doesn’t matter how. Following GW5 we should be looking more sharper and fluidity in our attack.

Not sure where the Havertz criticism is coming from. In the first half, he found himself in good positions/spaces but Tommy was unable to feed the ball through to him; this is where Zinny will be so crucial as his technical awareness will get the best out of Havertz on the left hand side.

I think this season expect a lot of rotations, different formations, flexibility of players in terms of playing different positions and it’ll be a more systematic rigid and patient approach rather than attacking for the sake of it.

Saliba was my MOTM followed by Declan. Two special players.

Havertz ran around like a headless chicken, slowed the play down taking to many touches, zero chances created.

The summer signings were suppose to be elite signings taking Arsenal up a level, 💩vertz doesn't do that.

He was a supposed upgrade on xhaka, let's see if he has same goals and assists output if not more.

We have created very little as a team vs forrest and pretty much same again vs palace. All this with a supposed more attacking line up.

You pay 65M you expect a lot more then the garbage he's produced so far. Arteta seems intent on keeping him on pitch all game to justify the signing.

Pretty much stinking out the place. We saw same with willian where no matter how rubbish he was he kept being played ahead of martinelli at the time.

This is what happens when you watch football with emotions, your analysis of the game get poorer year by year.

Havertz created a wonderful chance in the first half:

Secondly, he came out with most duels won from the game. He had a good game, my point stands.

1 of 3 teams to get 2 wins in 2. Chill - not sure what all the negativity is about. We do need a striker but ideally someone who can help reduce the load on Saka is priority. Lets see what happens with Balogun and take it from there. Lokonga,Tavares, Holding, and unfortunately KT will be sold so hopefully its re-invested.
Heard Pepe is back in contention so maybe backup to Saka...

Wow he won most duals 🤣 give him player of season and balon dor.

Zero assists. Zero goals.

No one cares about meaningless stats - attacking midfielders / strikers are judged on Assists and goals.

Yet another fan twerking over mediocrity

A balance needs to be found between stats and actually watching football with ones eyes. Man Uniteds Bruno is a prime example. His stats are phenomenal for G/A but if you watch the guy play for 90 mins he looks absolutely terrible most of the time.

How would you rate Jack Grealish? if you rate him on his stats its not great reading for a 100Million signing but if you watch him , his play is outstanding.

Havertz however needs to do more I agree and needs some sort of output just to answer his critics who after 2 games are already on his back.

Okay first of all, he isn’t playing as an attacking midfielder. He’s playing as a central midfielder as a 6. I don’t expect you to understand that. Judge him based on his role and position.

Secondly, since you are so keen on judging him with goals and assists; Martinelli ruined his potential assist, so criticise Martinelli? Thirdly, it’s only been 2 games into season, take a chill pill; he’s shown in pre season he can score goals.

We’ve only scored 3 goals into our season, and no player has been on top of his game, apart from Saka.

The difference between me and you, I twerk with logic but you twerk with emotions and you know what happens to those that twerk with emotions. :)

Playing as a 6 🤣😙🤦 send me your address so I can send you spec savers voucher so you can get you eyes tested.

Rice played as the DM (6) with oddegard (8) and havertz (8). You really are clueless. Stop watching football on the radio. The fact you don't even know how our midfield was set up shows you don't have a clue.

What does pre-season goals have to do with anything. Yaya sanago scored 4 goals once in a pre-season game then looked dog turd during season. Like I said twerking for mediocrity.

65M and no output. So havertz has been signed to win duals?

"An upgrade on xhaka" 🤣🤦

I dont understand why he is getting so much hate after 2 games. 2 games he was part of an 11 that won.

Did he miss any clear cut chances? Did he have an error leading to a goal? what did I miss?

Twerking for mediocrity reminds me of that guy on YouTube called Lee Gunner. Loves to rip the club he supposedly supports to shreds at any given opportunity .Take the wins man and enjoy them else it will be miserable season if we nitpick at wins.
There will be plenty of moments to criticize the team trust me!!

I stand corrected, he played as a 8, typo. But my point stands, he wasn’t playing as your usual attacking midfielder. The issue we have here is, you are holding expectations based on his value and the positions he use to play at Chelsea.

I used the pre season example to show you his capabilities of scoring for Arsenal in the current set up but your impatient self wants goals galore/assists within two games.

Funny how you totally disregard Martinelli ruining Harvetz’ assist this tells me you hold agenda against someone who is only into his 2nd game. Please don’t take football so seriously, criticise them once they have played handful games not two games.

@Amjid Javed is part of the toxic fan base; I wouldn’t take him too seriously though. He’s in his late 60s so is very passionate and sensitive when it comes to Arsenal. :p

You stand correctly! 🤣🤦 that says it all.

He wasn't playing in his usual attacking midfield position? 🤣🤦

The gut played same position he did in 1st game. Both him and oddegard are the two attack midfielder one on left and one on the right. Jesus you really are clueless.

Oh so now let's blame Martinelli because he missed 🤣. You think players don't miss. By your stupid logic Rice lost an assist when nketitah put the ball into the river Thames from 6 yards.

Why am I going to take such stupid logic seriously?

Pre-season games are meaningless and have zero bearing on actual premier league games. Again silly irrelevant logic. I already gave you an example in yaya sango.

Finally he was a proven flip at Chelsea. Oh wait "he was misused and not utilised properly". Feel free to use that excuse.

Your one of these so called "positive" fans when your just deluded and talking nonsense.

Every single Arsenal fan was calling havertz rubbish while at Chelsea, now the Arteta fan boys are doing a fulll circle and it was embarrassing to say the least.

Last season Arsenal fell short of winning title. This summer signings were suppose to be elite players to take Arsenal to next level.

Rice elevates Arsenals midfield
Timber is an upgrade on crycenko and tomiyassu

Havertz is supposedly an "upgrade on xhaka. If that's the case he should be getting more assists and goals then xhaka did.

All of heard is load nonsense from you and other that Arteta will get the leverkusen havert who got goals and assists.

Now all I'm hearing is "oh he won his duals" "oh he held the ball up"

So It's gone from havertz will score loads goals and assists to winning duals and holding ball up.

Like I said the fact uve got zero standard and expectations and your twerking says it all.

For a proven PL flop to be sign for 65M and be put in 1st team and who system changed to accommodate this clown, I expect a huge goals and assist output

Plenty of morons in fan base comparing havertz to Bergkamp and van Persie, shows how dumb most of fan base is.

Clearly Arsenal will not try Havertz in Jesus’s position. Instead, they are hoping for Nketiah to get them through.

That is not good enough IMO. Eddie is at best a good 2nd striker and not a starter. Of course Arsenal couldn’t have predicted Jesus’s injury lay off and there could be a case of no more money left in the bank…but you need a proper CF to challenge for the title and the Champion’s league. Arteta needs to be in his boss’s office and demanding a proper finisher!

They went and bought a second keeper to keep Ramsdale on his toes, why is Jesus not being challenged?

Arteta has already tried havertz as a striker in pre-season and end of palace game. Jesus won't stay fit even when he comes back.

Nketitah and havertz will be used to fill that position. God knows Trossard had stop being used when he was player of month in march then stopped been used as a starter.

City have haaland and alvarez. Alvarez is better then any of strikers at Arsenal.

Yes we need a striker but we ain't getting one. 65M wasted on a player we didn't need, this has been running theme of Arteta and edu and reason why we continue to be short upfront and right wing.

Other positions being filled instead which didn't need attention or rectify they previous windows **** poor signings.

Folarin Balogun: Chelsea, Inter and Monaco have enquired about Arsenal forward

Chelsea, Inter Milan and Monaco have all enquired about signing Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun.

Arsenal's valuation of the 22-year-old, believed to be in the region of £50m, has meant that Chelsea have not made an offer as things stand.

French side Monaco have reportedly had a bid rejected by Arsenal, with Serie A club Inter also interested.

The American enjoyed an excellent campaign on loan at Ligue 1 side Reims last season, scoring 22 goals.

Arsenal would be willing to let Balogun leave if a suitable offer was made, with the forward seemingly not a part of manager Mikel Arteta's plans.

The United States international has not been included in a Premier League squad so far this season despite first-choice striker Gabriel Jesus being out injured.

Eddie Nketiah has started the first two matches of the campaign for the Gunners, who beat Nottingham Forest on the opening weekend before earning a hard-fought victory over Crystal Palace to maintain a 100% record.

BBC Sport understands that playing time is a key factor in Balogun's thinking as he weighs up where to move.

Arsenal are prepared to sell NINE surplus players to raise funds for Mikel Arteta with a £72m flop, an academy starlet valued at £40m and a regular in defence last season all potentially on their way out before the deadline.

A summer fire sale is underway at the Emirates Stadium as Arsenal look to raise £100million by trimming as many as nine players from Mikel Arteta's squad.

The Gunners have sought to strengthen this summer having pushed Manchester City close in last season's Premier League title race.

They have splashed out £105m on Declan Rice, £65m on Kai Havertz and £36.5m on Jurrien Timber in the hope they can end a two-decade wait for the league title.

So far, their headline departure has been former captain Granit Xhaka, who moved to Bayer Leverkusen for £21.4m, with the sales of Pablo Mari, Matt Turner and Auston Trusty also swelling the coffers slightly.

But more players deemed surplus to requirements are likely to follow them out of the door before the transfer window shuts on September 1.

Looks like balagun and Tierney (loan) will be gone soon.

Holding, elneny, tavares, Vieira, pepe need to all go as well.

As for Xhaka and the lads, always bitter-sweet to see familiar faces leave, but change is the name of the game. Can't wait to see the final squad on 1st sept.

Club still needs to sign a RW and striker, but doubt it will happen.

Agreed. I reckon we will get 1 but probably someone who can do both. Not ideal but at least cover for Saka. I think eventually Arsenal will go for Ferguson, maybe even Ivan Toney but he's not the age we tend to go for. Obviously not this window.
I think we have 1 signing left in us this window

Arsenal are much worse than last season. Pinned everything on Timber now have no defence and no proper striker. Like Arsenal of two seasons ago

Ironically this is our best performance so far. Pinned them in their half, wave after wave of attack, 5/6/7 big chances created, they only scored from a miscued chip after a Saka mistake. For some reason just can't put the ball in the back of the net. Trossard been very off colour.

We're just too emotional a team. Even when playing well, we can never just get the job done comfortably, there's always some drama.

Never in doubt...

We were battering them all game, only a matter of time

Pathetic defence!! Against 10 men :facepalm
Zero improve defensively from last season. There's been no real improvement entire time Arteta has been here with defence.

No surprise, 3 very average team performances this season.

2 big points dropped.

You've got to win such matches especially at home.

Surprised Gabriel is still not getting into the starting XI.

We were a shambles at home defensively last year. Fraudeta decides the solution is play a make shift back 4.

With two make shift full backs, these school boy errors will be exposed more and more as season goes on.

Defensively a shambles and whole team balance changes to accommodate a fraud in havertz. Arteta trying to copy Pep again and looking like a clown.

Havertz was terrible. Hard to defend that.
Defense was a shambles. Ramsdale on 1st goal as well
When we have last seasons starting 11 fit they should all play. Rice for Xhaka obviously.
Ben White RB
Gabriel back At CB
Rice for Xhaka
Partey in MF
Not sure what Mikel is trying with this formation. It just doesn't work. Defensively weaker when don't have the ball. Attacking wise Mattinelli and Saka look less dangerous.
Only positive is we have more possession but pointless if not scoring.
