Before Sunday, Liverpool had 2 games in hand to but failed to capitalise.

It was 5 points, but Liverpool dropping 2 points at home verses a dismantled, disjointed, and decentralised Man United, means the gap is now 6, expectation was 8 after the derby.

The gap is closing.

Before today’s derby, Liverpool were odds on favourite to win.

Anything can happen in the 2nd half of the season!

I watched the whole game. Arsenal were the better side and would have walked away with 3 pts if it wasn’t for the referee.

I don’t see any reason to push the panic button. Besides, there are no realistic options in the market either. Perhaps if you stop playing fantasy football you will realize that Arteta remains the best man to take Arsenal forward.

Liverpool bottled it today. You have to be really poor to drop pts at home to United given their current form, this could be the beginning of the end of their run and Arsenal will be ready to pounce if that happens. If not, they will be ready next season.

It was 9 points before Xmas. Its not 6 points, but Liverpool have game in hand, so could be 9 points again.

With saka out. This team looks toothless, so I can't see it happening.

It doesn’t matter if United at arch rivals are not. You faced them when they were at their lowest in terms of form and confidence while you were flying. You should have dispatched them with ease but you bottled it.

The cracks are beginning to show. Liverpool’s second half of the season fixtures are harder. A lot of tough away games coming up. Also, TAA’s head & heart are already in sunny Spain, and it is not good for the dressing room.

Liverpool can collapse between now and April, and Arsenal must be ready to capitalize as everyone else is out of it already, including Chelsea.

Arsenal dominated Newcastle but couldn’t put the chances to bed. This is football, these things happen. Games are coming thick and fast so there is no time to dwell on defeats.

Accept that today was a bad night and move on. Well done to NUFC, they did what they had to do and hung on when Arsenal were all over them.

A lot can change between now and April. Liverpool’s fixtures look a lot tougher in these months than they have until now. Arsenal must be ready to capitalize if Liverpool slip.

This is not because of the carabao cup game just now. This is because we played near enough our strongest available team and lost at home 2-0.

Yeah I'm not a happy chappy at the moment. That's two games in a row now and I hadn't even gotten over Saturdays performance.

We need a proper striker, a proper right winger a back-up to Ben White, Salibs and creative midfielder.
Without these we're going to struggle to get over the line in any of the competitions

So why did he go full strength with what was available to him?

I have clearly said the League Cup is not acceptable and I dont care about it. I am looking at it as another showing of our weakness that does not get rectified. Instead Mikel starting to sound more and more like Wenger. Dont blame him to be honest. 15 Million a year - I would tell my employer he is amazing to.

As a manager, your responsibility is to win every game regardless of the significance/lack of significance. He chose a team that he felt gave him the best chance of winning.

However, as fans, we need to have a broader perspective and not use a league cup defeat to pass verdicts on the manager. Arteta is the reason why league cups etc. have no significance for the club anymore.

Few years back, the same Arsenal fans would have been delighted with three consecutive 2nd place finishes, but now suddenly it is not good enough anymore and anything less than a title win is a failure.

Arteta raised the standards and the expectations. No Arsenal fan should forget this or the last 10 years of Wenger and the 1.5 years of Emery.

United get violated every time they show up at the Emirates. If you fluke a win this time, I wouldn’t mind. I couldn’t care less about the FA Cup this season as Arsenal is in a title race.

Would love to see him play as LWF replacing Martinelli and linking up with Saka, Odegaard and Havertz.

Isak has outgrown Newcastle. At 25, he needs to join a club like Arsenal where he can compete for the title over the next 5 years.
 
apart from Saka that was near enough Arsenal strongest team.

Yet Arteta wants to play Stoke / Burnley football.

This fan base did want simone, inzaghi etc... as they play negative football

Its embarrassing, after every poor result Arteta feels his team played well, were the better team etc but something out of Dr Who was the cause of the final result.

Reality is Arteta cannot say he has failed to buy goalscoring attackers. I have a feeling he has gone to the board to ask for a striker but they reminded him he was backed to buy a forward and he chose Havertz. Id be very surprised if Arsenal buy a top forward this month.
