Arsenal played attacking football in 2022/23. It’s not like Arteta can’t play attacking football. It was arguably the biggest bottle job in premier league history, no team has led the league for that long and not won the league. I think this loss hit Arsenal hard, it led to a shift towards controlling games first with defense. Less risk, lower chance to bottle.
The attack is the last thing to spend money on. Signings in attack are always more risky and expensive. A few bad expensive flops in attack can really mess up a team’s future recruitment. We’ve seen that in Chelsea and man united. Right now Man City and Liverpool are buying best in class in attack. Hopefully Arsenal will do the same in the future, and if Arsenal can get a title it will be much easier to recruit prime attacking talent. I think it doesn’t come down more to a manager’s reluctance, I don’t know why Arteta would refuse top class signings in attack. But I think the board are reluctant to potentially waste a lot of money on attacking players that have a high chance to flop.
Until that happens I think trying to win the league based on defense and injury cover is fine until those top class attacking signings have been made. I suspect next few transfer windows will focus far more on attack. Arguably recruitment is more important than the manager these days. Whether Arteta is there next season or not, I think Arsenal are building and improving their squad from season to season. It’s going in the right direction. The current quality of attackers is just not on the same realm compared to the top teams. Regardless of tactics, you can see it in their technical ability. When those attacking players of that sort of level are bought, I think we’ll improve even further. But it’s already very encouraging that Arsenal are already favourites for the title, deep in champions league even without those sort of standard of players. It shows room for improvement.

so supposedly the board is reluctant to waste money on attackers, because of a high chance of floppin

So instead Arteta signed a bunch of failed Donkeys in Jesus, Havertz, Madueke etc. Won't be shocked if Arteta is sniffing around Phil Foden next.. his next project save a declining players career.
Because signing flops and salvaging their careers and putting them on 200k+ a week is better then signing big money players who "might flop"

Big name attackers come with egos and usually want freedom to play. They aren't interested in recycling the ball and playing haram football.
Arteta has already shown he can't handle Maverick players like Auba. He simply wants good little obident timid little boys like haverz and Odegaard who say yes mikel, yes mikel..
Anyone thinking Arsenal are going to supposedly chance tact under a manager whose essential playing cowardly tactics, because he's **** the bed numerous times is deluding themselves.
Arsenal in 22/23 played with freedom, until the tactics were eventually exposed, as was Artetas inability to rotate under pressure. Something he still can't do, last 2 weeks are prime example of that. All those attackers barring Saka, outperformed there usual average performance levels. It was a conicendence that they all had a 1 season peak at same time. You look at the careers of Odegaard, havertz, Jesus, Martinelli and most of their output season upon season is average at best.
Most of these lame attackers are at end of the cycle. I'm Sure Alvarez and kava can wait to join and play as defensive wingers. Like when prime Auba was turned into a left wingback
