What's the game plan then? Bye in Group plus next round. Then if Ind-Pak qualifies in Final, give Bye to Pakistan who will then be champion automatically but at least ego, and national pride remains intact?
Not the first time teams have boycotted matches. Has happened in ODI world cup too. In 2003 Keny made semi finals because they got a couple free points.

Naah Arshdeep is better than Shaheen.

He won a T20 WC being the highest wicket taker, not get smoked for three straight sixes.

Let Abrar (or for that matter Shaheen) win an ICC trophy first. Varun won one this very year being very effective in the UAE.
Bumrah won the t20 WC for you, average of 8 and less than run a ball.Ashdeep got cheap wickets due to the pressure bumrah applied to the batters however he bowled well.

Naah, Arshdeep took early wickets as well and bowled well at the death.

Like I said, he did what Shaheen couldn't and won the cup.

Is Shaheen better bowler than Bumrah, Arshdeep ? Absolutely NOT

Is Hasan Nawaz better player than Rinku / Pandya etc ? BIG NO

Is Abrar better spinners than Kuldeep/ Varun ? LMAO

:kp
I like how you and a few others act arrogant in pre-match threads, but the moment things get tough for even a couple of overs on match day, you start behaving as if all is lost and India has no chance of winning. :yk :inti

I am fairly confident this game will not happen. 20 days is a long time.

Just look at social media.

Opposition leaders are tearing apart Modi govt in X. Many army personnel's are questioning it as well. These voices will keep on getting louder and louder as I expected and this game will eventually get called off.

Either that or closer to the tournament, Ind & Pak will be placed on separate groups.
That would be unfortunate.

Bumrah went at less than a run a ball he won you the wt20.
In other thread you said exactly apposite about arshdeep, no wonder most of us don't takes delusional Pakistanis poster's view seriously.

Changed the opinion based on different threads. :lol :klopp :kp

Arshdeep is the superior wicket taker in T20 cricket. But Shaheen is more economical.

Arshdeep also bowls in the death hence more expensive. I would wager similar PP economy.

Shaheen's death skills were there for all to see in the 21 semi vs Wade. Contrast with Arshdeep in the 24 final.

PCT winning might make the cricket section interesting, right now the posters have to use some third team from a continent far off to make a point.

Yeah in another post I said ashdeep didn't win you the world cup bumrah did. Show me the other thread were I said this.

If you know it was off-topic then why bother to share it???

trying to derail the thread??

Because dominance like this is unheard of and worth highlighting. No one owned an opposition like Kohli did to Pakistan. If anything, it deserves a separate thread all together.

We have many threads already there for such stuff... go there instead of derailing match thread just because of kohli obsession

Wasim Akram shared following thoughts regarding the upcoming clash between the arch-rivals:

“Games between India and Pakistan are watched by billions around the world,”

“If Indians are patriotic and want their team to win, the same goes for Pakistani fans. India has been in better form recently and will start as favourites, but the team that handles pressure best on the day will win.”

"Personally, I wanted to see Babar Azam in the team, but since he’s not been selected, it’s up to those in the squad to step up,”

"This Asia Cup will be a feast for fans worldwide. It’s my wish that India and Pakistan also resume playing a Test series. It’s been too long, and it would be a historic spectacle for fans on both sides,”

“Fans must also show discipline,”

I have a feeling Pakistan may clinch this one.

It is because Pakistan have great hitters now and Dubai tends to be flat. Hassan Nawaz should like the Dubai pitch.

It will be a good game. I don't see Pakistan winning these encounters though... It could be a close one, but I wanna see the fight even if they lose.

Chairman PCB, Mohsin Naqvi, speaking to reporters:

About the Pakistan-India match on September 14:

“Our entire team has to work hard, and we all need to stand behind them. For God’s sake, stop the unnecessary criticism. I see how disheartened the players get when people criticize them without reason. If it’s genuine criticism, that’s fine—but wait until the tournament ends. Right now, even after one match, people start attacking them. Stand with them, support them. That’s the biggest support you can give to Pakistan.”

While this is true. He cannot control people's opinions. I heard of a journalist getting banned. The biggest shut up call is with performances.

While speaking on Telecom Asia Sport about PAK vs IND Asia Cup 2025 match, Wasim Akram said:

“I am sure these matches will be entertaining, just like all other India-Pakistan matches. But I hope both the players and the fans will remain disciplined and do not cross the line,”

Suryakumar Yadav Ineffective Against Pakistan: Former Batter Claims Ahead Of Asia Cup 2025

India captain Suryakumar Yadav has been a T20 phenomenon, having scored runs at an alarming rate against most opposition in the world. He has played 83 T20Is, and in those, he has slammed 2,598 runs at a strike rate of over 167, with four tons in 21 fifties in the format.

He will lead India in the upcoming Asia Cup, which will be his biggest assignment as skipper. However, former Pakistan batter Bazid Khan points out that the India skipper has not been effective against Pakistan - a trend India will hope comes to an end in the eight-team event.

“Suryakumar scores runs against almost everyone, but somehow, against Pakistan, he hasn’t been effective. Whether it is the pace attack or some other reason, it remains an issue," Bazid said on PTV Sports.

In the five matches against Pakistan, Surya's highest score is 18, and he has managed just 64 runs against them at a strike rate of 118.51.

Bazid also believes India will miss "high-intensity players" like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, along with Ravindra Jadeja, all of whom retired from T20Is after India's T20 World Cup 2024 triumph.

“Look, all these players are high-class. There isn’t anyone here you would say is not of that calibre. But the high intensity that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma brought to the game – that is something India will surely miss," Bazid said.

“People talk about Virat and Rohit, but Jadeja was someone who really helped the team gel together. Axar Patel is there, but Jadeja gave you balance as a batter, as a bowler, and above all, with his fielding. In world cricket, Jadeja was among the top one or two fielders," he added.

India will begin their Asia Cup 2025 campaign against the UAE on September 10. They will then take on Pakistan on September 14 in Dubai.

Trophies can't be win by individuals....

It is like going from ferrari to tricycle. From a great 5 test series to Asia cup T20. it is a lose lose situation for India. Everyone is ranked 7 or below. So if India beats them it is expected. No big deal. It India loses to them then it will be embarrassing.

Unless they roll out a turgid pitch where free run scoring is harder and it can bridge the gap between teams massively. India always goes in with a positive mindset. So they can collapse on such pitches.

It will be more embarrassing for other teams not to be able to beat this Indian team.
3 main players retired, newish captain..

Only interesting thing is the pitch. How it will be and how we will fare.As Gill will be the designated statpadder, its really good to see how tilak and sanju( as per reports) in middle order will do against spin.if tilak is found out then it will give jaiswal or reddy a chance later. Aus tour next will definitely gives a most probable team for wc.

But many posters are stating this india team will absolutely destroy any other team.

ICC T20 rankings for the teams playing are 1,7,8,9,10, 15, 20 and 24.

Of course Ind are feeling they are playing with minnows. At the same time I have always seen hubris come to poor ends so looking forward to that angle.

Still a few days left, but the excitement is growing day by day. Really want Pakistan to win for obvious reasons but in reality, India has the upper hand..

This time Pakistan won't have any excuse as they are already in UAE and around 19 days still left for mega clash .

Pakistan will be well prepared while Indian T20 team directly play in Asia Cup after 6 months period ( Last T20I match was on 2nd Feb)

19 days in the UAE to prepare for one team? Meanwhile, India's 'excuse' for not playing a bilateral series was a literal terrorist attack on its soil—weird priorities. Focus on the game, not on fiction. The only thing India is guilty of is taking 6 months to finally give you a match you've been begging for.

We are not making any excuses as we are winning the match . Nind se jag ke bhi hara denge Pakistan kp. :klopp :kp

I know it's T20 and anything can happen but I will be surprised if India even looses 1 match in this series. They are too strong compared to the rest of the teams that are participating.

Also, all the oldies that pulled out of Ind V Pak in the oldie series sure doesn't seem to have a problem with this one. One even asked to be put in as a commentator. Why do all these bogus drama when you know you all love money at the end of the day. Hypocrit much ...

India should have pulled out for sure. Its a shame to see them sacrificing principles, fan sentiment and sindoor widows tears for some cricket against low ranked teams.

Will Indian channels even cover this cup?

They pulled out due to public threatening them and their families, and even sponsors pulled out of Pakistan match in old man's league, but blamed it all on Afridi playing.

No Afridi in Asia cup means India can play and not be accused of hypocrisy

They will cover. But "don't care if they don't cover" kind of cup. From venue to opposition everything is dull. India has lost only 3 games in the last 10 years in Asia cups (both T20/ODI) out of 22 games.

I was away for few days. This game has not been cancelled yet?

Toss ke baad pull out karenge kya? :yk

#Boycott

This match is significant because anything Pak-Ind is significant. Even if it’s a thumb fight or a pillow fight or whatever..

As a cricket fan, I don’t care much about this match. I think manipulating formats to get Pak and Ind in same group in every tournament is hurting the game.

As a Pak fan, I’d love to see Pak team beat Ind blue.

Pakistan is a better team and will win the Asia Cup.

Asia cup with current condition of the teams should be a 6 team affair

Pakistan Afghanistan Bangladesh and Sri Lanka with two of the best associates. It would be a cracking tournament with very evenly matched teams and lots of off the field rivalry. It should be held in UAE though as stadiums in any of these countries are not international standard.. maybe Sri Lanka as it's beautiful.

The Emirates Cricket Board has dismissed concerns about India potentially boycotting the match against Pakistan.

Chief Operating Officer Subhan Ahmed stated that all participating boards confirmed their involvement in the Asia Cup only after securing approval from their respective governments. While an absolute guarantee cannot be provided, there is strong optimism that the match will proceed as planned.

Reports indicate that the Asia Cup, hosted by India, will be held in the UAE from September 9 to 28. Prior to this, Pakistan will compete in a triangular series alongside Afghanistan and the UAE. The Emirates Cricket Board is fully prepared for the Asia Cup. The first encounter between Pakistan and India is set for September 14, with a possible second match on the 21st, and a potential third if both teams reach the final.

In an exclusive interview with Express Tribune, Subhan Ahmed said, “Our preparations are complete, and fans can look forward to enjoying high-quality cricket.”

He emphasized that all teams confirmed their participation only after receiving government clearance.

“Although nothing can be assured 100%, we remain hopeful that India will play against Pakistan,” he added.

Addressing concerns about crowd turnout, he said, “There is no fear of boycott; a full house is expected. Historically, fans have separated cricket from politics, and we anticipate the same this time.”

Regarding tickets, he explained, “We understand the enthusiasm of fans waiting to buy tickets. Unfortunately, some dishonest individuals exploited the situation by selling fake tickets online. This prompted the Asian Cricket Council and ECB to issue a social media warning, clarifying tickets are not yet on sale and cautioning fans against fraud. Please wait for the official announcement—tickets will only be available through the official website.”

He further shared, “We are close to finalizing an agreement with a ticketing agency, and fans will soon be able to purchase tickets online. We will also aim to keep prices affordable.”

When asked about separate seating arrangements for Pakistan and Indian fans, Subhan Ahmed responded, “No such directive has come from the Dubai government. Fans will sit together and enjoy the matches as usual. However, the Sharjah government has requested separate seating for Afghan and Pakistani fans during the triangular series, but since no Asia Cup matches are scheduled in Sharjah, this does not apply to the tournament.”

He also noted that spectators can obtain UAE visas through regular channels, while special arrangements are in place for players, officials, and other participants.

“There will be no grand opening ceremony for the Asia Cup; it will begin on a modest note,” he concluded.

This is true.

This type of stupidity is only present in one sport and that is cricket.

It is a shame because cricket wasn't like this before India hijacked it. :inti

More voices needed against moronic “most eyeballs/most revenue” theory.

Cricket is becoming a lost cause sadly (overcommercialization, petty politics etc.). I do not have any expectation. I follow it mainly due to nostalgia.

It has turned into a full-blown Indian sport. Can't believe England (the inventor of cricket) allowed it to be hijacked like this. :inti

Anyway, I hope Pakistan will beat India.

I think the opposition to ‘most eyeballs’ hijacking cricket has to come from Ind now.

Sane heads from Ind need to call out the absurdity of making cricket all about India. In the long run it’s gonna serve no one.

INdia is a stronger side but T20 is a game of nerves and you never know when Pakistan is gonna play their A-game.

We actually got closer to beating them, until we choked as usual, It's not about talent this time, In games like India you need passion and need to thrive under pressure, all the game is just about pressure against your rivals which sadly our players lack currently, though interesting to see what will the new team do, they play better t20 cricket than the past ones, but like I said very difficult to beat India, they are unbeateable in this format and Pandya, Bumrah, Varun, Axar/Kuldeep can eat pak batting alive

One more day passed without getting the news of cancellation fo the match...
India will play. After tariff situation with Trump, India is trying to normalize relations with China. For that, it will have to mend ties with Pakistan. All that 'Phelgam widows' and 'terror camps' was always dramaybazi.

Indian posters should post their expected XIs so we can analyze. They have newer players and I don't even know who bats where.

We are brave people. We fight wars in the battlefield but if we see each other in the cities and parties we can all sit together to share some greats conversations over great food.

Indians & Pakistanis undeniably share a unique love-hate bond.

For a rebalance of power, the effort has to come from the opposite side. Especially from Eng, Aus.

But none of them seem to have to the motivation to do it. Mainly because it will actually involve them getting off their rear ends and put in hard work.

They seem perfectly happy just checking their bank accounts to make sure the Ind. $$$ are in.

I put a big part of the blame on the rest of the boards and the ICC for the current power tilt in the sport.

The whole eyeballs thing comes from sponsors and broadcasters. They want most bang for their buck.

Also, it is not just about most eyeballs. It is also about how much $$$ these eyeballs have to spend and the willingness to spend. This is the key. The number of eyeballs matters less.

No one "allowed" anything.

It was India's economic growth that allowed it to happen.

If Pakistan maintained pace, they would be the no 2 now instead of where they are.

Amazing in how post after post you manage to pour out the negatives and somehow hook India as the base faultline along with your obvious bias and agenda.

So what stopped both your home land and your adopted land to excel in the fields of innovation, entrepreneurship, technology, medicine, making quality products that the world buys and hence earning the money to be a big player in the market, like India has done?

What stops your lot from perenennianly crying the victim and do some hard positive work and contribute positively to whatever nation your lot inhabit, instead of to crime/jails etc?

How about looking inwards for ones own faults instead of just generic 'its all india's faults' for everything that you see wrong from your tinted lenses?

Work hard & work smart, stop the excuses from becoming a lifestyle....comprende???
