Aus [662/9d] defeat Eng [403 & 218] in the 3rd Test by an innings and 41 runs to regain The Ashes

Teams:

Australia (From):
Cameron Bancroft, David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Steven Smith(c), Peter Handscomb, Shaun Marsh, Tim Paine(w), Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood, Jackson Bird, Mitchell Marsh

England (From): Alastair Cook, Mark Stoneman, James Vince, Joe Root(c), Dawid Malan, Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow(w), Chris Woakes, Craig Overton, Stuart Broad, James Anderson, Gary Ballance, Mason Crane, Ben Foakes, Jake Ball, Tom Curran

Make no mistake , Perth is one of the flattest pitches in the world right now.

No change from England but Australia make a change. Strange as normally it will be other way around.

Aussie commies Taylor and Healy rejoicing Cook's dismissal. That rivalry is intense.

Starc is such an eye catching bowler. I would buy a ticket to watch him bowl live.

That’s a good start from England, but they will need a big score because this pitch is fast and flat, and the outfield is super quick.

Hazelwood not getting the praise he deserves, whilst Starc has bowled a few too many loose balls.

How Stoneman is still out there is beyond me. Has looked all at sea against the extra bounce.

2 bouncers now from Starc that went for 4 byes... spot fixing or just the WACA pitch :murali

Making Lyon look like the gully mohallah bowler he is.

It would really suck if England give him a bucket load of wickets again but then again this is England. They can't play spin to save their lives.

Even session, unless AUS takes one more in last over

Hazelwood 's last spell was just sumptuous

When nothing went on his way he just stick on basics and finally get the reward

Lol, Mitch Marsh.

Mitch doesn’t come across as a natural slipper.

Terrible drop.
Went for the AFL style fingers facing upwards, which you don’t want to do against flat catches. His brother Shaun also has the same problem.

Someone needs to shut KP up. This Ian Healy and KP duo is easily the worst going around.

KP is more like that kid in the neighbourhood who shouts annoying or insulting things while fielding on the road.

As someone said Healy called England rubbish earlier. Then quickly backtracked to talk about the run-rate.

The man would drink the Australian team's urine just to prove that he's more biased than we already knew.

Root continues to disappoint.

Just not good enough for a superstar batsman.

Rooooooooooot out for 20 caught by wicket keeper down the legside. Pathetic way to get out. What a dud he is turning out to be in this series!

115/3 and these two dudes batting.

Malan 12 innings, 297 runs, 65 HS, 24 Ave, 38 SR, zero hundreds and 3 fifties.

Stoneman 9 innings, 254 Runs, 53 HS, 31 Ave, and zero hundreds and 2 fifties.

Bairstow and Moeen left.

I don't see 400 ahead, much less 500 which you probably need to have a chance at winning or drawing the Test.

England still playing like headless chickens, also their short ball defense is ridiculously pathetic!

Terrible decision by Aleem Dar.

What is this trend of not giving batsman benefit of the doubt? I'm all for bowler friendly cricket but have the rules changed? Second this has happened in this series, and England have been on the receiving end of this both times.

Aleem Dar has lost the plot and must go immediately. This has been a regular occurrences here he is giving decisions based on pressure by home teams.

Woakes last time, see why India was against DRS all this while :39:

It's not even like it was giving the batsman the benefit of the doubt in this case, he completely neglected to try and even check if it hit the correct glove as if he was unaware of the law.

Thank you for that. At first I thought, 'hasn't he seen the 2005 Ashes or heard that Kasprowicz was not out and Australia were robbed of 2-0 and maybe the Ashes?' Then I was doubting myself.

It hit the correct glove and the umpire had to make a decision one way or another. Batsmen do not get the benefit of the doubt anymore.

Benefit of the doubt in this case is quite literally written into the DRS rules, the third umpire needs conclusive evidence to overturn a decision. In end it looked like it possibly hit the correct glove, but that still doesn't excuse shockingly poor umpiring. Let's not forget all the extremely poor decisions by Aleem Dar last test as well.

Missed Root's innings, but I assume it was a beautiful 20 runs.

You may have noticed that this shocker, has to do with Aleem Dar being incompetent. Dar is in an infinitely easier position than the on-field umpires, and if he can't make it.

I'm unsure what to say to you when you're blaming DRS for Aleem Dar being incompetent at a job that pretty much any cricket literate fan can do.

I'm also not sure we've been watching the same sport, but in this one that even the earlier imperfect system fixed a lot more mistakes than it made, and it made off-spinners relevant again.

BCCI had an anti-technology position that every other board disagreed with. Usually, when most stakeholders, people, countries etc prefer to look forward and work with technology, and one refuses to, it's understood as being backwards.

Any organisation that believes it's right, while all others think otherwise, it's usually a sign of madness or stupidity.

#3 Batsman in the world showing why he's a legend. Not sure who is more reliable in this series. Joe Root or the guy who averages 30 he hides behind.

Funny you saw that because the Aussies, on other forums were tearing their hair out after the 3rd day/night of the last test claiming that trigger happy Dar wasn't giving anything out the next day, when England batted as opposed to the appeals made by England under the lights.

You could see the same today, as for our objections (India fans) some of us still believe that the current implementation is hugely flawed. The DRS should be in the hands of the umpires & you shouldn't be punting your chances of a win based on 2 reviews! This should be called decision roulette system as the last test between WI vs Zim showed.

Malan seems to be a keeper for England for the time being at least. Good temperament.

Stoneman and Malan have justified their selections for the time being. Vince is awful though.

He looked terrible in India. I thought he was not cut for Test cricket.

Today he is playing with so much confidence. Looks like a different player. Deserves a 100 for weathering the hostile spell from Hazlewood/Starc/Cummins.

Perhaps you are getting him mixed up with somebody else. This is his first tour. He had only played a small handful of home Tests before this.

This is the best England have played Lyon in the series.

Hes been seen as more of a LOI player and a dasher and technically he does not look great. However i have been impressed since hes come into side as hes prepared to change his game, knuckle down and occupy the crease and in doing so there will come a point where he will get big runs.

Definatley englands best batsmen interms of application and fight in this ashes series, indeed a good temperament.

For the sake of this game and series, england need to get to close of play just 4 wickets down.

Aussies trying to get through some cheap and easy overs through marsh and lyon before the new ball, this is where england batsmen cant afford to switch off or throw wickets away.

Sorry confused him with Duckett.

DJ is a class player. He is a keeper for England.

Beautiful shot by Bairstow.

Been terribly wasted batting at 7 by the team management.

Really good maiden hundred by Malan, deserves this for application and heart hes shown with bat in this series.

england well placed at 290/4

Brilliant innings from Malan. Many players from cricketing history would love to say they got a Test hundred at the Waca, but he actually went and did it.

Wasn't convinced by Malan leading into this Ashes but that's a battling knock from him. Could be a turning point for his Test career.

Cummins looking a bit blown up and down on pace.

Well it took 11 days but England finally have come out firmly on top after a day of Ashes cricket. Maybe the series is not dead yet.

Well done lads.

Boikz reckons 320 first up is a par score on this deck, curiously.

Great batting from Malan and Bairstow.
Don't think England want to think about what could have happend had one of these guys lost their wickt early.
Jhonny should go on and look to make a century and hopefully Moeen chips in with a quick fifty aswell.

Excellent day for england, if they can get 400 or even 450 on this surface then they will have a serious foot hold early on in this match.

whenever i watch malan bat he reminds me of psl..
good to see psl product scoring ashes hundred.
happy to see him succeed

Yes really played well under pressure. He is a pretty good hitter of the cricket ball as well however, pretty under rated T20 batsman atleast in leagues other then PSL or Natwest ofcourse.
