What's new

Australia [389/4] beat India [338/9] by 51 runs in the 2nd ODI

Starc should be ashamed of his performance in this series.

Is he injured or what? He was never so bad.

Starc has been playing regular cricket before the series and is in awful form in these 2 games anyway.

Kaifi Azmi was a brilliant poet. His son in law Javed Akhtar though not as good as him, great nonetheless.

True. I guess sometimes balance is lost when a lot of commercial aspects start manipulating art which has been the case with a lot of poets in recent times. Its sad as it was a cultural heritage but, looks like the even Ghazal singers as well as non commercial poets are slowly fading away from sub continent.

Jaddu goes but not before earning respect. This should have been done by Pandya 10 overs ago.

Brutal innings by one of the best hitters in world cricket right now. Powerhouse knock by Pandya.

Now Pandya gone too. What a match loser this guy is...

These Australian pitches are a disgrace to the game, Test, ODI or T20.

Pandya would like to forget this game quickly. Otherwise his confidence in his ability to hit sixes would take a beating.

Indian,s team selection have been absurd. One bowler and batsman short. Another bowler and a batsman for Pandya and it was close.

Series is lost. Bumrah, Shami and Dhawan should be rested. Even Kohli can be rested to try out bench players but none of it seems much likely.

Agarwal
Rahul (C) (WK)
Gill
Iyer
Pandey/ Samson
Pandya
Jadeja
Thakur
Nataranjan
Yadav
Saini

Yes things can go bad but, whats to lose and if any young player puts a hand up than he will give an option going forward

Nah they were flat highways as per usual. Just that they forgot how to hold a bat.
Don't think we were watching the same series then. Batsmen had to dig in really deep to make their runs.

Indians should be very satisfied of their batting performance. Theh have batted like champions. Making 300+ plus back to back against this aus attack is remarkable. If they can fix their bowling, I reckons they can win the next match. Overall very good effort.

Chahal almost hit the ball over the 30 yard circle with that energy draining slog.

One big advantage in these big aus grounds countries like aus and eng have that they have effortless six hitters. Subcontinent teams lack this big time.

Ravi shastri is that you?

:ua

Well played Australia. Best ODI team in the world right now. Beat England in England and now India as well at home. By 2023, I expect this team to get even stronger.

Why rest Dhawan? Agarwal should be rested and told to focus on warm-ups for test matches coming up. Samson can come in for T20s and Gill for the third ODI.

Rohit has been a huge loss for Ind. They needed him badly today. Only he in this indian team who has the best six hitting ability. Even if he is 70% fit, I would pick him in every match.

Please don't further embarrass us.

I think if India had batted first, games would have been more competitive.

These flat pitches mirror some in India with big scores in them. Batting first is a big advantage.

Nope. Batting has beeb very good. Its the bowling that have let you guys down. Even if Aus would have lost if they were chasing 390.

Exceptionally flat wicket and chasing massive 350 +scores here is impossible. This is the sort of wicket where you have to dig it short if a lengthy and take the pace off . We bowled good length at pace and were punished.

I think its time for Virat to give up captaincy. Jusy look at smith who is so relaxed right now. He is only focusing on his batting and fielding. Looks genuinely happy. Imagine virat who is an even better player than him without the extra pressure.

Well played aussies. Comfortably the better team out of the two and arguably the best ODI team at the moment. Won against England in England too.

Finch is underrated as a skipper too.

Hope we get some fresh faces for the dead rubber. Gill, Samson, kuldeep and Natarajan should all play. Bench Dhawan, Chahal, Shami and one of Kohli/Rahul.

Agreed. If this has been 350, I reckon india would have win easily.

Disagree. Finch and Warner will be at the end of their primes. Labuschagne still has a long way to go. Maxwell needs to improve in Asian conditions. This Aussie team will peak by 2022 T20 world cup in Australia for which they will be favorites, then they will enter a transitional phase.

People still don't get it. Batting first is a huge advantage in Pattas. Batting second under the lights is a huge disadvantage.

They will have replacements by then if they aren't good enough. Last cycle was ruined for OZ because of the ball tampering scandal and its effects. They are on the right track now though

India should drop Iyer. Send Rahul and Pandya up the order. And get a power hitter who can hit from ball one. Pandya is not a specialized power hitter. He is a proper batsman.

Virat has the pressure of all the brands, friends and his wife. He won't give up captaincy in my opinion. :inti

Finch said the ploy to bowl short of a length and take the pace off was after finding it difficult to hit Hardik.

But India under Kohli prefer to chase anyways so it is still playing to your strength regardless. And you never prepare for a match to bat first or bowl first.

Honestly India should have bowled better. If Australia scored 330 today, I still think Australia would have defended that total.

Honestly I was so shocked to see Shami, Bumrah and Saini be so toothless. They bowl well to these guys in the IPL so there is no reason to be so hopeless as they were today

389? I thought India had the best bowling line up in the world or something? Mamoon :sree

India just getting epic phainta after epic phainta. Damn.

What happened to Bumrah - the "best" fast bowler in the world. Getting mercilessly spanked. :)))

One swallow doesnt make a summer

They do. They have had two bad games and Australia have batted really well. It happens in cricket. India have won plenty of series against Australia and will continue to do so.

They are not Pakistan who haven’t won a single series against Australia since 2002.

Besides, I don’t understand why Pakistani fans are celebrating?

4th ranked team beat 2nd ranked team at home. Why are fans of the 6th ranked team that recently lost an ODI at home to Zimbabwe distributing mithai?

Ermmmmm maybe because fans of a 2nd rank home track bully were making fun of Pakistan who tied a game against Zimbabwe?? So it works both ways. You celebrate Pakistan’s loss and fans will celebrate the loss, sorry humiliation of your Team India

Cannot wait for you to explain us how many bad days India will have in this tour. Already have had 2 as per your count.

The side that Pakistan beat in 2002 trumps any Indian Victory over Australia. That 2002 Australian team was one of the best ever. India in comparison beat a seriously weak Australian team without Smith, Warner in 2018

Yes but they have the right to make fun of us because they are much better than us.

Different players have different things which inspire them, for virat it's challenge. More he gets better he performs. Check his stats as captain + batsman. He is doing great in both of it.

Every single team in the world would love to have a Captain and Player like virat. Enjoy his masterclass until it lasts. Later only memory will remain.

Maybe they will lose every game. Does it change the fact that they are much better than Pakistan and have been for a very long time? No, so why are we celebrating it?

India will have to lose every single Test in Australia until 2040 to be comparable to Pakistan. That puts into perspective how embarrassing we are.

On the bright side, India did manage 300+ scores in both games against the Australian bowling. It will serve them well for the future.

Yeah it was a great win, but the fact that we haven’t won a single series since 2002 means that no one cares about that fluke series win anymore.

The achievements of Pakistan and India over the last two decades are incomparable, and that is why I don’t see any reason why a Pakistani fan would be mocking the Indian team.

We would love for our team to be in the position. We would swap places in an instant.

Lol they went for 770 runs in 100 overs as well in 2 games

We have better bowlers than them so they should not make fun of us

Unfortunately ranking doesn't show the same. How many bowlers are in top 10 ranking from pakistan in odi and test? Let me guess 1. It's Amir who is not even part of the touring side in new Zealand now. 👍🏼😀

Virat Kohli | India captain:

They have outplayed us. We were ineffective with the ball, and didn't hit the areas. They have a strong batting line-up, they know the conditions and the angles well. The chase felt steep, and one or two wickets would take the RRR up so we had to keep hitting. They took the chances that they created in the field, which was the difference. Hardik felt okay to bowl. Initially just thought of trying for a couple of overs but he felt good and bowled a couple more. And he gave away a bit of a bowling plan with his off-cutters (smiles), but credit to them, they used the dimensions well. Even Rahul or Shreyas, if they carried on, it could've gotten us across the line with Hardik to come.

Unless he has changed recently, Virat is not like Sachin Tendulkar who will be contented to to score runs for the team under someone else's captaincy. He's got to be the captain. Drop him and his career is finished.
