What's new

Australia beat India by 7 wickets (with 6 balls remaining) in 2nd ODI

Should have send Jaddu ahead of MSD, at least he hits few boundaries and that too in limited number balls.

Looks like another game screwed up.

Even 50 runs in 5 overs will get us to only 320.

Dhoni must go.

Been saying it for a year.

Rahane at No 4 is a liability. Can play great in a certain kind of innings but can't tee off.

He should be the backup opener.

Damn. Everything looks so obvious.

Just 4 overs to go.

So we are in for yet another 310ish score.

Pathetic batting this by our team.

If Dhoni doesn't perform this series, it will be right time to pass on the captaincy to Kohli. MSD will get the message.

Still any takers for Dhoni?

Frustrating.

Explosive Top 7 must be the mantra.

But here we have over the hill Dhoni, can't slog Rahane and a joke lower order consisting of Jaddu and Ashwin (both of whom should bat at No 8 and No 9).

Now even 310 score looks a doubtful, we don't have the luxury of big hitting rohit to save our face (somewhat) this time.

What else you want Rahane to do? Only batsman who has strike rate of over 100 today.

Manish scores a much needed boundary for us, need few more if possible.

FML, he too gets holed out at the deep. Faulkner tightening the screws, further

We are basically a team of 3 batsmen (Kohli, rohit, and rahane). Even if all the three clicks on a day, we still struggle to get near the par score on a flat track.

While our batsmen squandered yet another opportunity to get a big score, OZ bowlers maintained their disciplined effort to squeeze us for a below par score for second match in a row.

What is the point of Jadeja in the team, absolutely useless with the bat and only picked for his bowling and fielding. But in these pitches of Aus, his bowling is extremely ineffective so again, why is he in the team?

This team cannot do well outside India. In India spinners can somehow put pressure and keep the opposition score low (But even then we lost ODI Series to South Africa). Raina should have been in the team. Australia is not the place to try newcomers.

In such case even Stuart Binny can play in place of Jadeja. On these pitches sometimes such bowlers can pick wickets like how Sran did. Though not totally effective, but at least he would be better than Jadeja. Also Sami should have played ahead of Ishanth Sharma. I don't think Ishanth has the attitude for ODIs

No. A set batsmen MUST KNOW how to tee off or get out.

If you keep striking at 100 SR even in slog overs in a BATTING SHOOTOUT game with wickets in hand, its a BIG BIG problem.

Rahane can't slog. That's why he must come at the top of the order.

In the past, we had YUvi at No 4. lol.

And we have guys like hardik pandya who hit 86*(46) with 8 sixes yesterday against vidharba laying to waste in domestics. Pathetic really

Pathetic 1st over from Sran.

Overly short in length and bowling both sides of the wicket.

Like last game, extras galore from our bowlers (3 wides so far in 7 legal balls bowled)

Ishant getting prodigious Inswing...An attack of Shami, Ishant & Yadav would have been quote good.

Regardless of the track or the batting prowess of opposition, this kinda ill-disciplined approach from bowlers can't win matches for defending team.

Indian pacers so far been very short in their length and bowling to both sides of the wicket.

One dimensional Dhoni not innovative with bowling. At least 1 over from Ashwin is needed to see what happens. Otherwise Aussies will comfortably chase this once again.

Ishant is known for no-balls but here he is struggling to control his direction, ending up bowling too many leg side wides.

Typical innings when Finch's partner can't carry him

Ishant has settled into a nice rhythm. Gorgeous drift into the batsman's pads, just in the spot where he can be pounded for four.

Who is the Brahaspati that told Indian bowlers to bowl short pitch ball after short pitch balls for this track?

BTW, there is a loads of wind in play, our bowlers should aim to utilize it for some swing.

Clueless catching (or lack thereof) at deep by ishant costs a wicket for India and Jaddu.

Marsh survives

Pitch is surely gripping/turning under the lights.

Our spinners (along with fielders) gonna play important role if we have to stop OZs from stop winning.

Fantastic bowling by Jaddu and Ashwin, so far. Looked like getting wickets with each of their overs.

Rare one ball truning doesn't mean anything. Still hard.

Nope. there is turn on offer for most of the balls that are delivered by spinners so far.

MSD bringing in Umesh releases whatever pressure created by spinners.

Pathetic captaincy in display again.

Majority of balls didn't spin.

Its mainly straight.

If it really spins, those two would be in all sorts of trouble.

Even when bowled at short ball was turning for Jaddu. Besides you don't need big turn on every ball to get batsmen out, just a ball or two that turns in a over should be enough to create doubt on batsmen's mind.

Picth has enough in it under the lights for bowlers to exploit it. Unfortunately, our bowlers just aren't good enough to do that.

Every pitch in the world even the flattest ones will have the odd ball turn.

How much the odd ball turns matters.

Still this isn't a total dead track for spinners. Plus the spinners are doing much better (but the batsmen aren't going for it as of now either). One ball really turned as far as I remember. Others didn't. Odd ones turned a touch but too little and too slow.

Let's see how this goes.

Ok a serious question.

Why does Dhoni persist on Kohli bowling. I have never seen Kohli get any breakthrough ever, he's not even a half handy bowler. Total of 4 wickets in gazillion matches.

Picks up no wickets, doesn't keep it tight, he probably himself wonders why he's a preferred option.

Australia on a 16 ODI winning streak. Looks like it will be 17 tonight. Two games away from a World record.

Australia should cruise home here as long as they bat sensibly and just pick of a boundary an over. Indias spinners once again have been very disapointing.

Its a straight forward win for Aus unless someone picks like 2-3 wickets in couple of overs.

Containing NEVER works.

Sadly our bowlers couldn't pick wickets and our batsmen put together a sub par total.

Current Aussie pitches and 308 is hard to defend regardless of what happened in past.

Case in point Perth (Aus vs NZ test).

Things have changed.
