I don't think Pakistan will lose from this situation however I don't think they will win either. RUN RATE IS TOO SLOW, unless Aussies just fold away

Hope he bat's positively because this pitch doesn't have any demons.
 
Babar is not suited for test!!! 1 or 2 fluke innings against weaker team shouldn't be considered.
 
Ugh what a waste. Was a great no pressure time for Babar to bat and get some test runs under his belt in a format he hasn't lived up to his potential yet. Might not get many more chances like this, he's already under pressure to get dropped from the test side.

Nice 100 by haris, but with start we had on day 1 we should 550 by now not 440.
 
Sarfraz needs to get a good score here, especially after that dropped catch.
 
Starc has bowled 30+ overs already in the first innings. May not last the whole series at this rate.

I assume Cummins and Hazelwood (both currently rated higher than Starc) will be back for the India series. If these pitches were not so dead, maybe these bowlers would have played and been worn out a bit. Instead they will be fresh and raring to go at India, so no thanks.

There is a reason the average r/r in the UAE is 3rpo and that is what Pakistan is scoring at. Wait until Australia bat before criticising Pakistan's r/r.
 
Asif and sarfaraz need to just play some shots here and get up to 500 if possible and quickly.
 
Both guys should go for it, try and get the next 50 runs in 50 balls or less and then just declare.

My biggest concern is that with Wahab Pakistan have a weak link in the bowling line up and just 4 bowlers is not good enough.

Not the conditions for pure fast bowlers. Pretty sure Riaz is just being picked as he'll give Pakistan a proper fast option and so that guys like Hasan, Amir, Junaid, Shinwari, Shaheen i.e. all the bowlers considered for the world cup won't get injured. The thinking being doesn't matter if Riaz is run into the ground, as there's plenty of time to rest between test match series as we don't play many of them. Don't think Riaz is even expected to take lots of wickets in these conditions, just apply pressure with his pace.
 
Wahab will be used in short 4/5 spells and just be told to hunt for wickets. I wont be surprised if hafeez opens opening at one end.

Did create a solid impact in the first Eng test. I think a 100 is around the corner and once he gets that first one just like Haris did today, he will be more confident.

Also cant understand how a runout makes you conclude if a batsman is suited to the test format or not.

Excellent post this one bro... I second you.. No need to play your best fast bowlers in uae in tests when world cup is near the corner... Wahab Riaz is perfect for uae in tests.. he has pace and aggression which i think is good enough and with an extra spinner in bilal asif to support yasir shah plus hafeez as 5th option also azhar and haris can bowl few overs so all in all we are good for tests no problem..
 
Pakistan going no where with this. Either hit out or get out. wasting time!

Thats some thinking but, I believe considering the wickets in UAE, Wahab is selected bcz of his pace and reverse swing. He was cruicial in winning a test against Eng in their last tour of UAE where he took 4 wickets.

Amir and Hassan are out of form and rythm. Junaid is a really good test bowler in these conditions but he has struggled with injuries in the last 4,5 years so it might be the reason for his non selection while Shinwari has known back issues and so no point in risking him. While Shaheen is still new to the stage and his body is still developing.
 
This run out sums up Sarfaraz decline and lazy attitude towards his Cricket. I honestly do not see how his team mates can have any respect for such a non performing captain
 
Abysmal from Sarfraz. Can't be running like that in club cricket let alone an international game against a side who fields like Australia of all teams

Really bad, just pure laziness. Can understand mixing up,poor calls that happens, but this was just no effort. It reminds me how he gained weight after getting captaincy/becoming a regular. I mean you bothered to keep fit before, but now you're an automatic pick (and even captain), time to let go? Even worse than someone who's always had weight/fitness issues. Especially when his whole game (or used to be when he first made his impact) was on taking singles.

Should be let go of test captaincy for sure now definitely, need him to feel the need to perform for his place at least in one format.
 
If this was the 90's, pretty sure a players revolt against Sarfraz would've been in place and rightly so. Doesn't perform with the bat, an average WK, an average captain and then shouts at his team mates openly.

The problem is that the PCB doesn't have the guts to drop Sarfraz, which Sarfraz knows and this enables him to carry on with his mediocre performances.

Probably a good thing if we get bowled out here, pretty slow and pathetic performance today, should have got 500 by tea and with ease.
 
Feels really weird Yasir batting at 11. Remember when he first came into the team, people were talking about how he was a good bat for a bowler and started off as our no.8.
 
Wahab and yasir need to play some shots or just declare.

I fail to understand this waste of time! Ridiculous . . they have gone no where in the last half an hour!
 
[MENTION=79064]MMHS[/MENTION] and you were expecting Pakistan to be 500+ 1 hour before tea? I was expecting Pakistan to declare 1 hour before the end of play and it looks like exactly that. However I expected them to be at least 520 by now.
