The rest of us who saw his whole career can testify that he was a supremely overrated Test bowler.

Where was he when Sehwag was playing T20 cricket against Pakistan and scoring triple tons in a day? Why did he fail to take the pitch out of the equation?
 
This Swepson is better bowler than Sajid or Nauman. No wonder Australia score over 550.

This whole agenda against Rizwan going on in this thread is just plain nonsense.

He averages more against Aus, NZ, SA and Eng than his career average. Averages above 40 in every supposed great pace bowling country. Has had a brilliant series in Aus, was decent in Eng and NZ where he almost saved an impossible test, and was brilliant against SA at home.

Not to mention his keeping in on another level.

Now please tell me who is supposed to be better how is Rizwan nor good against quality oppositions or quality pace. And if the said performances don't tell how good he has been, also mention where this quality pace bowling happens, so we can send Rizwan there to play.
 
Where are "Pitch is dead" mob? You see what happens to Pakistan on a test wicket which supports bowlers. Pak batsmen have proved that Ramiz's decision of dead pitch in Pindi test was a masterstroke. There was some reverse on first day too but Babar was defensive and negative. Pak bowled outside leg stump rather than being aggressive for wickets. I feel sad for Shaheen. Babar treats him as a workhorse but not as a strike bowler.

Compare to Shoaib both Shaheen/Hasan are nothing bowler. Dravid/Tendulqar/Viru would score few triple against our bowling.

Rizwan is one of the best WK batsman in the world across formats and the second best in Asia after Pant.

Faheem is a nobody.

You can say this for every player in history. Where was he in a certain match. Doesn't amount to much.
 
Onus is on the first three duds to throw their wickets away and let Australia take a strangehold of the game.

When you are three down for nothing, facing 550+, you will run into these situations where the middle-lower order is devoid of confidence.

Pitch is still flat, Australia have been disciplined and stuck to their plans. Pakistan has played some sub-standard cricket so far though.

masterful reverse swing bowling from starc. he has been slightly inconsistent the past few years, but when he gets it right, he is up there with the best.
 
Heaviest defeats on Pakistani soil.

Pakistan beat India by 341 runs in Karachi in 2006.

Pakistan beat New Zealand by innings and 324 runs in Lahore in 2002.

Both records are under serious threat depending on what Australia decide.
 
Pakistan need to dump Azhar, fawad, faheem and both spinners for next test. provide a sporting pitch and just go for broke.

But Shoaib’s entire Test career doesn’t amount to much. 178 wickets only, he has no legacy in this format.

Missed half of the Tests Pakistan played during his career and was ineffective in half of the Tests that he actually played.

He was only consistently world class during the 2001-2002 season where he tormented NZ and nearly won the Colombo Test against the legendary Australian team.

Apart from that, he was below par and did nothing after the England series in 2005.
 
Australians were better prepared for this series ie spin and reverse swing. Pakistani bowlers have nothing else to offer and hence no plan B.

Pathetic batting against quality world class bowling and we are getting handed it to us in our home conditions. Great reality check for the team.

Aussies will bat again quick runs and then declare probably 500+ ahead and win by 350+ runs

He bowled match winning spells against the top 5 teams it’s tough to do it consistently considering he didn’t play a lot of tests Shaheen has yet to do it once looks ordinary every time he faces quality batting.

No they will enforce follow on which is the right thing to do. Our incompetent and timid batters are gonna wilt at the prospect of trying to survive for 2 full days and aussies know that very well
 
Oz bowlers are on another planet in terms of bowling. Yes, Starc got wickets but Cummins hasn't bowled a single bad ball in the entire spell. Our bowlers (spin or fast) are unable to pitch the ball at the same place for two consecutive balls even if their lives depend on it.

Also, we should follow the Indian template of preparing turning pitches from day 1 so to nullify the toss advantage for either team if we are to go down the route of making turning pitches. We don't have a Younis type batter in the middle who can dominate mediocre spinners anymore or even a good spinner so I don't know if we should even be making spin pitches.

Preparation due to gap of only few days was naturally impacted and there are no two ways about it considering how the fitness and execution requirements of both the formats are completely different.
 
Playing in Pakistan has been a handicap for Pakistan since the 90's. Posters here put Pakistan as favourites when there is a home series. In fact Pakistan are horrible at home. I have always maintained that UAE was a blessing for us and Misbah was a genius captain in those conditions. Once Misbah went, our UAE record went as well and now we are getting exposed as a Test team.

Pakistan cannot win against any of NZ, Eng or AUS in Pakistan. We were extremely lucky to win against SA as they choked in the important moments otherwise that series was there for the taking for SA. Pakistani pitches are never conducive to spin which is what you need to beat these western teams.

Pakistani pitches either help the fast bowlers or they are completely dead. In both cases, Pakistan doesn't have the bowlers to win. Just cannot understand why even after 30 years, the cricketing minds at PCB still don't get that in order to win against the western teams, they need to make rank turners.

Misbah realized in 2010 that Pakistan doesn't have any fast bowlers with which to win Test matches which is why he relied on spin and binned Pakistan's "fast bowling" strategy. We are the only team that consistently plays 3 fast bowlers at home as a strategy.

Exactly same way if Rizwan was sure there was a nick just like Carey was. Just because playing a poor Test match dies not mean we start demeaning everything about Pakistan players. Posters calling Rizwan illness fake during the T20 cup is just so ridicolous. Rizwan good nature and humurous activities has nothing to do with Pakistan poor display. Labu has been clowning around too Aussies are simply much better Test Side.
 
Take a leaf from Hanif Muhammad.

Pakistan should eye 500+ in 2nd innings and draw the Test.

Still 3 wickets left, babar shall add another 50 and deficit will be 400.

Scoring 500 at slow pace will definitely ensure a draw. Eveb if Aussies have to chase 100 in last 10-12 overs
Our bowlers will defend it.

Never give up.
 
Pakistan being beaten by their own tactics

Our bowlers managed to get the ball to reverse but the Australian batsmen countered it very well by keeping a straight bat and not playing across the line.

In comparison our batsmen are batting as if they are facing 140 km/hr reverse swing for the first time in their lives. Who to blame for this debacle? The batting coach Mohd Yousaf?

Agree with this, but I think Misbah would have struggled in UAE as well without Ajmal and Yasir.

Pakistan was lucky to have found Yasir immediately after Ajmal, but the stocks have dried up now.

The lack of top quality spinners will hurt Pakistan throughout Asia and not just at home.

Even Green has bowled extremely well so far.

I think the template of wickets vs SA was pretty decent with not a lot of movement but, bit better bounce and pace then what we are seeing here. Our pacers (Prepared for the red ball cricket) had more chance to compete then our current spinners I think who are pretty new at this level.

Misbah was lucky he had peak Ajmal and Rehman once they went we lost tests to different teams in UAE with Younis and Misbah still playing.

Those pitches are more suitable and there’s more chance of winning there unfortunately our current spinners are not in the same class as previous ones no captain can win with weak bowlers.
 
Babar has had a very weird stay at the crease. I am surprised why he has not farmed more of the strike. We should not have waited for tail enders to come for him to farm the strike. He could have helped his partner batsmen spend more time on the crease. He has just been a mere spectator at the other end.

Misbah would've worked it out still. He was the one who got both Ajmal and Yasir into the team and made them the focal point of our bowling. Let's not forget that Pakistan won against Australia in 2014 with an attack of Imran Khan, Rahat Ali, Yasir Shah and Zulfiqar Babar. That was probably an all-time pathetic bowling attack given Yasir and Imran were both debuting. To be able to whitewash Australia with that lineup was an incredible achievement for Misbah. I have no doubts that Misbah would not have allowed Australia to score 550 here even with this bowling lineup.

Pakistan are seriously deficient in not only bowling but also in the captaincy. Dark days for Pakistan test cricket are just starting.

Shoib Akhter was one of the quickest meanest fast bowler in world cricket in no doubt.In all format he was a fearsome bowler for the opposition. Please listen to what Allan Donald said about him. He doesn't need cricket experts like us to glorify his career.

Shehwag was another great in his time.One of the destructive opener the world has ever seen.

Both Shehwag and Akhter had one thing in common.Both used to cause fear in the opposition bowler or batsmen.

One day any one would dominate over the other..it's the nature of the game. It doesn't decrease the greatness of the other.

Shehwag tore apart the SA attack on his way to making 319 off 304 ball in South Africa in 2008 ,an attack made of Stein ,Ntini and Morkel. He was in his day was on another level.
 
Blaming Fawad and Rizwan is sheer injustice. Why is no one talking about atrocious run out and irresponsible shot by Imam which allowed Aus to put pressure ?
 
Looks like match will be finish by Lunch tomorrow unless Australia decide to play.

Yeah, that's the point that no one seems to be talking about. Babar and by extension Pakistan let Australia score 550. His captaincy on day 1 is the by far the worst I can remember and I have been infuriated by Misbah on away tours.
 
Babar still taking singles. He should be hogging the strike and not taking risky singles like he did with Hasan.

We have been a low ranked team for a long time with Misbah as captain and coach at least we beat South Africa not like we haven’t been ranked 7th or 8th in the past it’s the norm for Pakistan for a long time now.
 
Guys is it me or does Chachu Nauman Ali has a better technique than Rizwan and faddy :)
 
the fact is we are timid...we couldnt get Star or cummins out on this pitch and they have destroyed us with reverse unbelievable
