Dhoni, Ashwin and Malcolm Yadav in for India. India will bat first. Ball's going to do a bit.

Dropped Shami?! He wasn't doing that bad at Adelaide and looked better than Aaron. Ashwin will get tonked here I reckon.

Bro, right from England tour, Shami has been beyond garbage in Tests.

He is our best in ODIs but tests very very poor recently.

I thought he was comfortably the worst of the bowlers actually. Ishant bowled well, Aaron wayward but with fire, Shami inaccurate and not quick enough to bother our boys.

We had these Aussies on the ropes at Adelaide now its time to break their fortress in Gabba and shock them in their own backyard #BleedBlue #Believe

What about Malcolm Yadav has he improved?

From Cricinfo:

"Umesh played all four Tests in 2011-12, and took 14 wickets at 39.35. He was quite expensive on that tour, going at 4.66 an over"

Vijay looks like he is in good touch. Definitely improved a lot and good to have a opener like him

Johno hasn't bowled amazingly as of yet, expect that one short ball to vijay.

Blind stats.

He was without a doubt our best bowler last tour.

When every other bowler is avg, your stats go for a toss too.

Ask the Aussies themselves about Yadav and they will tell you he was the best off the lot last time.

Aussie bowling looks quite weak without Harris. This is the test that we have to capitalize on, Harris is probably their best fast bowler.

Johnson has been 5kph down on pace all summer. Johnson at 140-145 is a decent bowler but nothing more. Johnson at 145-150+ is an entirely different proposition.

He may never get back that top pace now- often bowlers just have 1 or 2 hot streaks. He is 32 now I think...

Wicket looks no way near as omnious as it was made out to be

Its Australia. Wickets never look as threatening as England but it gets you out.

There is a reason why Asian batsmen do far better in England than in Australia historically.

But yes, the commies said the pitch has lesser lateral movement than expected.

But its still bouncy and some balls are seaming around.

Murali "3rd Man" Vijay is scoring heavily thru his favorite area just like in England. :)

Exactly what I thought. Its Australia, you expect a bit of bounce but there are no demons in the pitch.

This is going to be a beauty to bat on after 90 mins or so

He's definitely the most skillful- good with new and old ball, can bowl any line/length asked of him at decent pace and hostility.

Siddle was handy but not quite the same quality as say Gillespie or someone as a 3rd seamer.

Johnson is a wrecking ball at his best and an expensive bowler who will still almost always pick up 4 wickets a match at his worst.

Starc has everything you could possibly want if designing a fast bowler- height, pace, swing, good bouncer. Yet at this stage has a Sami-like quality of all that somehow adding up to nothing...

Usually what happens at the Gabba. First session can be juicy and you need some skill and some luck (or some poor bowling). Then that sun browns the pitch off pretty quick. Day 2 the pitch is usually a tiny bit quicker as it hardens up. Day 3 is a road for batting. Day 4 & 5 a little bit of bounce and spin but not in the Adelaide league.

Correct.

Australia is actually an easier place to bat than England.

But....only for those who last the early period.

Asian batsmen don't hence they have awful records there.

Dhoni has an avg of 20 here and has a good average in England.

And Dhoni is comedy against swing in TEST cricket.

Sums it up.

Well that was surprising good to know the whole picture.

Cricinfo wrote the stats in a way as to suggest he was poor in the 2011-2012 tour.

Will be keeping an eye on him.

Indians going at four. Lots of strike rotation. No swing yet.

Good toss to win and a challenging Indian team.

Yeah bro.

Yadav has the best SR among Indian pacers.

He will go for runs and that's an issue with him :(

Hahah Warne is about to pull his hair watching Starc bowl, loving the pain Aussies are feeling #BleedBlue

Everyone except hazel wood have been a bit expensive here today

6 more runs

and this will be first 50 opening partnership since 2011 Gambhir and Mukund in England..

Starc showing his ability at Test level to concede 5rpo without even trying. This is a poor start from us.

Drinks. Vijay carrying some good form with him. He should go big. I'm glad we have at least one stable opener post gambir / sehwag

49/0 after 12 overs and it is drinks.

India definitely would be the happiest team here no wicket and good run rate.

Give this team some time. The uh will come good! Time for pujara to step up now

Even though Pujara scored 100 runs last test, he has not been impressive.

Needs to step up.

Struggling against Lyon's bounce is getting embarrassing.

Boundary ball. Good bye shikar for sometime.

Finally , a wicket. if Johnson can take one here then Aus will feel better.
