Second Test between Australia (445 & 89/7d) and India (260 & 8/0) ends in a draw as the 5-match series is level 1-1

You think smith will play that kinda shot for 4 runs if they were not trying to make a game out of this?
Smith was a regualr shot with reflex. Also, Then batsmen should have gone for shots from the get go. No point in not going for it if you plan to bat only 20 overs or so.

If we have to bat again, make Rohit open and put Pant at 3. If things go wrong, have Rahul at 5 to save us.

Someone has asked a brilliant question on espn Cricinfo.
With the way australia just batted it may send india into a false sense of self belief for Melbourne.

Worst thing someone has said till now.
India has already chased down 324 at the Same venue against australia .

Currently australia 245-6 and don't forget australia only have 2 bowler- Starc and Cummins .

But now not enough over left for india/ Australia to force a result.

One thing is sure if we have enough time left india would have gone for a win even they will not succeed .

Okay sir, no can beat your fantasies.

The Aussie top order has been consistently poor across all three Tests, apart from Travis Head. So, dismissing them shouldn't instill any sense of self-belief whatsoever.

I know Australia is safe here. But this scorecard looks ugly for them. Atleast a couple of guys got out not exactly while playing shots.

Australia is saved by rain @Rajdeep

This is repeat of oval test where shami and Bumrah partnership kill any chance of England winning and after indian bowler's were bundled out England in less than 2 session.

Never ever underestimated the indian.
:qdkcheeky :kp

They keep bowling short to Cummins... He keeps slapping them for boundaries and sixes...

Such smart bowling

Aus will need at least 50 overs to push for a win.

50 overs 300 runs. Can be a good target. May even 315 runs in 50 over. So next 5 overs make as many as posisble, to have 50.

260 in 55 overs is not that hard with Jaiswal and Pant.

Need to make it 300 in 50 overs.
Only way australia can win if india go for the target and its Only possible when RRR is around 5.

Now with 6RPO india is not going to chase the target .

Very poor captaincy from Cummins in this test. First when australia should have declared overnight score before start of the day 3 and now this.

POintless batting by AUstralia lol THey have more than enough. No team can score 270 runs in 1.5 session on day 5 pitch
Let's be honest. If it was not for championship points I am sure gambhir's ego would have let india go for the target and they are the only team who can actually do this.

Lol at the Australian Commentators saying the Aussies lost quick wickets because they were looking to score quickly.

The reality is that Bhumrah owns Australia and India is Australia's boogie team.

274 to win in 54 overs? :starc

STarc is pumped
25 useless runs for late declaration . if indian top order fall cheaply and we are reached the equation like australia need 4 wickets in just 5 overs than Cummins will regrets for this late declaration forever .

:kp

Ok 275 runs is good enough. If some one can bowl good spell and rain can stay away then a decent chance to push for a win.

No they shouldn't. Our guys will get caught in slips if they go after this. You need to see off 30 overs to go after this bowling. By the time game will be out of their hands.
Same strategy as last gabba match.just target in blocks .no need to get in t20 mode rt away as we have far many passengers.

If India wants then threy can now go for win here. It's hard target but not out of reach.

Best match figues by Indian seamers in Australia
9/86 Jasprit Bumrah Melbourne 2018
9/94 Jasprit Bumrah Brisbane 2024
8/72 Jasprit Bumrah Perth 2024
8/109 Kapil Dev Adelaide 1985

Clever tactics from Cummins to declared so Bumrah Never gets 10 fer.
:genius :kp

Let's be honest. Australia are the ones who benefited from rain. Didn't exposs their unfit 3 man attack.
The way India's batting has been baring pant, jaiswal (to some extent) and nitish reddy.
You can call ambrose to wake from sleep and tell him to bowl against this Indian batting and he will take 7 wickets and go back to sleep in which one wicket will be obviously of Virat playing at 11th stump line.
