I hate Vijay. He scores these 50s but never converts. It's sad because he has a great knack of scoring daddy hundreds in domestic..

i think Smith rotated his bowlers too often at the start

Agreed. Too much experimentation. Probably Smith thought the variety will bring him wickets but in truth, the bowlers were not given enough time to work out the batsmen

Requoted for the LOLs

Horrible umpiring continues in this series. DRS or no DRS, no excuse for incompetency. It was clear that it hit helmet.

Imagine getting out on 192 like that. Karma Sangakkara's ghost. Pujara gone, looked struggling. :kohli at crease

Enough of BCCI bashing. Let's bash umpires for being so clueless about their job.

Congrats to Josh Hazelwood on his first Test wicket! Well deserved he's been the best of our bowlers today, built up the pressure and got the breakthrough.

No. Umpires are bound to make mistakes. The BCCI not embracing a system which would have overturned that decision means they deserve every criticism they get

Gould strikes again. Even on internet stream you could tell the noise was from the helmet. BCCI hopefully will finally wake up and endorse DRS, can't rely on these incompetent umpires to get it right all the time.

When there is no DRS the umpires are more stressed and therefore more likely to make mistakes

Some of the decisions has been very poor. I can understand the pressure in close calls but absence of DRS is no excuse for giving so many howlers.

Umpires are bound to make mistakes, but so many howlers in a matter of 3 days is a disgrace. If they are going to be this horrible without DRS, then they should find another job.

That even sounded like it came off helmet. **** poor umpiring

The uimpires fully endorse DRS because it gives them a buffer. When there is not as much pressure on them to make the right decision they make decisions better

said it before i will say it again...

drs ain't perfect but it sure beats the alternative.

Horrible decision but a good bouncer.

DRS needs to be brought in surely.

Also Brayshaw- the kangas home ground is Docklands/Bellerive not the G

Thats where drs helps buddy.its basic aim is to negate these sort of howlers

Currently, you get two reviews initiated by batsmen. It's a crap way to eliminate howlers to be honest. Easiest way is to simply allow third umpire to correct howlers immediately by watching replays. Do it all the time and take it out of players.

Reviews are not used nowadays for getting rid of howlers. Batsmen do take it in 50-50 case as well.

It's very hard to do the job and it's very hard to produce top umps, india for example have the all the power all the money and the population yet they basically never produce top test umpires.

DRS wasnt there for a lot of years. Umpires still did not get so many wrong.

If you don't want DRS then

The umpiring isn't good enough but there is no excuse to continue fighting DRS.

To the Indian supporters who want the umpires sacked.

Are India contributing any umpires to the pool? If you keep sacking them you have to replace them you know.

ICC should simply allow third umpire to correct howlers rather than allowing players all these tactical decisions about taking DRS . You get two shots at it within 80 overs. That's not really about removing howlers then. I don't get it why it has been made so complicated with players choosing to review and then umpires calls and all that non-sense. Just watch replays and it's enough to get rid of howlers. For closer calls, let it be umpire's call. For this, you don't need any fancy tech.

Vijay has looked solid this series. He really looks a good prospect for India for next 6 - 7 years

Nah, I have seen many series with plenty of howlers in pre DRS days as well. You get good umpiring and you get bad umpiring. It happened before DRS and it happens with DRS as well. DRS provides some cover for some poor umpiring for sure.

Exactly. We are not contributing because we know that our umpires are crap and can cost sides matches with their howlers.

I wish other boards too realized that about some of their products. :asadrauf

Tbf, you wouldnt even have needed DRS for that. Just the plain replay. Make the ump use the walkie-talkie without Hawkeye/Hotspot

Not talking about bad umpiring per se. Talking about howlers.

+1. Umpiring is a difficult job. It's very easy to sit at home in front of the TV and criticize the umpires.

Well, You got to pick the best among the all available choices. Those choices doesn't mean that you won't get bad umpiring consistently.

Four years of overseas thrashings seem to have turned Vijay into a tough cookie. Brilliant temperament.

Umpires give the normal amount of howlers. Same before and after DRS
