Finally NZ have figured out what needs to be done instead of just putting the ball at random positions on the pitch and expecting it to do everything.

Australia have just been having a happy-go-lucky slog today, in the knowledge that they already have a huge slog.

I learned two lessons yesterday.

1. Whether your quick enough or tall enough, in Australia you need to bowl the right line and length.

2. McCullum is an even crappier captain that I already thought. What kind of moron doesn't have any slips at all at the WACA before the end of Day 1? His stupid "funky" fields meant that his quicks couldn't even just bowl a defensive line outside off-stump. McCullum is like Afridi - an idiot who doesn't respect the history of the game and is so ignorant that he makes the wrong decisions as a result.

No, if NZ bowled as poorly as they had in the last few days then Australia would have had 4/550 by lunch. NZ tightened the screws and Australia had to battle through the morning. The slogging wickets only came because of the tight morning session. Otherwise Aus could have declared at lunch.

No they haven't. Smith Voges & Marsh played very cagey innings. The slogging only started after lunch.

Yes, we were bowling tighter but the Aussies were also not attacking those deliveries, if they had they would have hit our bowlers off their lines like Warner did yesterday.

Warner targets every bowler regardless. It is up the bowlers to keep their nerve and keep the ball on a consistent line. He'll eventually edge one if he doesn't respect the good balls.

Every Australian pitch is excellent for batting because you get extreme value for your shots but it does not mean bowlers cannot operate there. Plenty in past have been successful there on the same dry flat bouncy pitches because they adapted to the bounce and made full use of it. There just aren't many bowlers around capable of adapting today, your trundlers certainly aren't.

I don't mind fair, objective criticism of the pitch. And I agree with you also, that this WACA wicket is not as fast or bouncy as we would ideally like to see. But overnight there was a spate of threads and posts, mostly by India fans (oddly), which carried on as though the WACA strip was identical to this one:

I don't know why certain sections of India fans seem to have such a chip on their shoulders regarding Australia's domination at home. They go to such great lengths to diminish Australian performances in Australia, and have done so consistently throughout my time on this website. I'm sure the same dudes hero-worshipped the likes of Kumble, Laxman, Sachin etc. when India were similarly invincible at home in the '90s. I'm sure these same dudes who today decry Australian home dominance as detrimental to cricket packed out Indian stadiums, faces painted, flags waving; during the '90s, with no complaints at all directed to the Indian pitches for not favouring the skill set of tourists.

Why so salty guys? I suspect it is because some of them want to deflect attention away from the criticism Indian pitches have come in for in this South African series taking place now. Or perhaps it's bitterness that Australia enjoy the kind of home dominance once reserved only for India.

We dont kow that yet. The only consistent 150 kph bowlers in recent times have been Mitch and mitch. No one else. Steyn bowled a few above 150 in perth last time and he took seven wckets in the match.

Wahab wont do zilch in Australia. Averages 34 and wont find reverse in Australia. And he has never bowled a spell with consistent 150;s like Starc just did.

These Aussies are brought up playing against pace on pitches with pace and bounce, they're just too good in these conditions (not that our bowlers have tested them - not taking anything away from the Aussies, more disappointed with our bowlers) and we just need to give them props.

And I'm not denying that. Regardless of where you're brought up, it's very difficult to react 145k+ accurate bowling especially with steep bounce.

Nope. We usually unravel against the Hazelwood types. Johnson, Brett Lee were never an issue for Pakistan: its the McGrath, 'Sarfraz' Clarke, and Hazwelwood type of bowlers that have our number.

Considering they are the wickets they play on what were you expecting. Aus play on them every year, why would they put their effort into being specialist UAE batsmen where no crowds turn up and they only play once every 4-5 years. You work it out.
