Australia v Pakistan | 1st Test | Brisbane | Dec 15-19, 2016 | Day 2

If only our own Hawkeye had the optimism of the Avengers' Hawkeye.

Next question: Can our openers outscore Australia's closers?

No chance.

Fortunately, they won't need to because Rahat will smash the Aussie trundlers to all parts and score a double century that our great great grandchildren will sing songs about.

Bazid Khan sucks, no way is he the best ak commentator. Waqar clearly has a lot of insightful things to say but just struggles with English. Ramiz has zilch insight other than cliche after cliche and doesn't even speak spectacular English while doing so.

Haha guy running within the playing area, tackled by security

Chachu Iftikhar would've been really handy, right about now !!

cleaned up the tail at The Oval in a space of 6 deliveries !!!! :rahat

I was talking about bird and lyon who are actually scoring these runs. They havent done much and never look competent with the bat. The other tailenders like starc and hazelwood who are good didnt score much today.

Bird looks decent with the bat. Pitch is pretty good for batting if you play positive cricket. Our performance will depend entirely on how positive we are against Australia's main two pace bowlers, Starc and Hazlewood.

Supporting Pakistan is like being in abusive relationship , frustrating and when you are trying to move on, they produce something magical and make you stay

Bazid is the most insightful and He has tremendous knowledge of domestic circuit of Pakistan. Its just that you feel like its a tortoise doing commentary when he is in the box.

the fact that both Riaz and Amir have not yorked them out is just appalling ... shambolic bowling all-round.

Bazid Khan is our color commentator. In that he acts as a black hole that sucks the color and joy out of every living thing around him. Someone should send him to the Aussie locker-room after the break.

Tbf while 50 runs from the tail is par for the course nowadays I do think even Pak tail can score that much with a little application.

Misbah is relying on Azhar who has almost zero ability to take wicket. What a pathetic strategy!!!!

Lovely batting conditions - 400 is a par score due to the lack of grass.

We are about to see whether Pakistan really could afford to ignore Salman Butt and Umar Akmal in spite of their past records in Australia.

If any of the batsmen fail, there needs to be accountability.

To be fair, the pitch is looking like a belter at the moment.

PAK might just have to be careful under lights but, apart from that, no real worries about the pitch or conditions.

Bazid is the best Asian commentator, end of story.

He understands the game, watches Pakistani domestic cricket and knows the strengths and weaknesses of the players and actually provides viewers with an insight into what is happening on the field.

The only people who dislike him are those who want to hear the same old anecdotes about "Well when I played cricket, Imran used to tell us..." that we've heard a billion times before and stupid jokey banter. Those fans should go and watch reality TV or chat shows instead.

True. Starc relies on bowling freakish deliveries rather than setting up the batsman. Nothing better than such a bowler for these pitches who is quick through the air and beats you with sheer pace and late swing.

Don't need Salman as Sharjeel is in the squad. Umar is certainly needed though just to add some much needed fire power to lower middle order.

Now just accept it people, somethings are never to change, like we will never beat india in a WC tie and will never win in Aus in a test series atleast not in our life times, it's just some curse, or it is just our destiny. So we have to accept and move on with our lives.

test series is a far cry , the first challenge is to draw a test match in australia

Can this match go towards a draw??

Or will the pitch deteriorate??

Teams in past have score 400+ runs in first inning and still lost , it happened to England in last test. Lets see if Pakistan batsman have in them to score 600+ runs.

For goodness sake waqar no way. Bazid is our best commentator by far at the moment. Only let down is that he is extremely monotonous but I m sure he's going to over come that in a year or 2 as he's already come a long way from the time he started.

Younis, Asad, Azhar and Babar will have a big role to play if PAK is to score 600+

lol , wondering if junaids can post anything without words salman butt and mohammad asif in it.

It's gone very cloudy this last hour since Dinner!

And where are the Pakistan batsmen?

Azhar and Sami entering the ground expressively and lively but on the pitch it'll be a different sight :)))

Only if the inferior players selected win.

If you lose after excluding 2 of your best 3 players in Australia, I will have plenty to say.

The batsmen came out so late that Aslam clearly hasn't adapted to the worsening light.

He looks really tentative.

butt averages 30 and far from superior from any of the lads selected. Asif can make his case but PCB dont want him. btw congratulations you made a post without naming them.

The rate at which Pakistan bat , it would probably take us 3 days to get 600.

Our primary target should be 150 rather than 230 and we have to play positively rather than excessive tuktuk and nothing on the board

I am yet to recover from the hammering we got in New Zealand.

Gosh the ball is flying everywhere. Worrying signs for us.

NZ was a damn greentop.

This pitch is a belter atm.
Junaids confirmed it as well.

If we can get to above 350 we will still have a chance.

I doubt that. Whatever has to happen has to happen in this innings for us otherwise this would be doom and gloom for us in the 2nd innings. Remember we lost 9 wickets in a session last match.

We should attack for 15 overs and then declare so we can bowl at Australia under lights

From the first ball of Josh, it's clear that PAK missed the length of Gabba track. It happens always, at least what I have seen. Only, it didn't affect WI much, because of the extra height of their pacers. Bringing on front-foot is the key in AUS wickets, otherwise most better batsman can leave balls on length.

It's becomes a different ball game under the lights and that's what we hv to guard against otherwise the pitch doesn't hv too many demons in it even for our not so good batting order.

This 14 overs late declaration can lose you the game. Declare after this over as there are dark clouds looming over the ground. 3 wickets per over from hereon.

Not much happening off the wicket or in the air in these first few overs. Pakistan should look to avail this chance. The bounce looks manageable aswell, nothing extraordinary.

I said it in an earlier post that PAK has be to be careful under lights otherwise the pitch is a belter. I haven't seen one ball swing yet tho.

I have to disagree with all of you as he is incredibly hard to listen to and also because I seem to have missed all of his pearls when i wasn't yawning listening to him during those UAE matches. It's not like the bar is very high for Pak commentators.

Why am I feeling like we're about to lose a wicket just about any second now :(

Exactly plus we hv to keep the score board ticking. That will be a difference in the end between a loss and a draw.
