What's new

Australia v Pakistan | 1st Test | Brisbane | Dec 15-19, 2016 | Day 2

Best way to get ahead in day night test.

Definitely.

This 14 overs late declaration can lose you the game. Declare after this over as there are dark clouds looming over the ground. 3 wickets per over from hereon.

You make a compelling point. We should probably have declared by now, this is a huge blunder from Misbah.

It's a super road. Only difference is that Aus pacers are bowling right length and making batsmen play most balls. Pakistani pacers didn't do that.

The floodlights have taken over twenty overs earlier today!

I said it in an earlier post that PAK has be to be careful under lights otherwise the pitch is a belter. I haven't seen one ball swing yet tho.

Openers have to be careful & know where there off stick is - that was true 150 years back, still true & 150 years later it's true - that's their job. Not every Test, teams return to lunch at 72/6 after being put in under a gloomy, overcast sky & wet, green wicket. If Aussies start to bowl short & wide, do you think twilight will make the ball kissing the edge or other way - Aussies scored 104/0 in light yesterday, today lost 6/90 in bright day light - must had been drunk overnight.

Starc ki bakwaas shuru hogayi.

This is the thing I hate most about AUS. They act as if the opposing team is their slave.

Definitely.

Expect nothing more from a defensive captain. Sarfaraz would have declared when Lyon and Bird were batting.

I have to disagree with all of you as he is incredibly hard to listen to and also because I seem to have missed all of his pearls when i wasn't yawning listening to him during those UAE matches. It's not like the bar is very high for Pak commentators.

That's why I said he's our best commentator at the moment however it doesn't mean he's the best in the Asia. He's a lot of room for improvement and I m sure he will improve unlike waqar whose grammar inls all over the shop almost every othe sentence . The guy can hardly frame one sentence without a making a grammatical error. Waqar can be good if he corrects his " agreement of verb with subject" bit.

I see lots of wrist slitting here already, people 'SCARED' from Starc's bowling. Hah.

Well, our boys out there are playing it beautifully so far. Adjusting to the sheer pace, bounce, defending well.

Exactly, our current 'thick' tank would never come up with that kind of aggressive, out of the box thinking.

We could get out flashing at the ball like Starc and Hazelwood did. Just need to play proper shots against boundary balls.

Wrong. This pitch clearly has something in it for the pacers. Had Pakistan held onto their chances, Australia would have been dismissed for under 300. Amir and Riaz were very good.

See? If we had declared that would have been an Aussie opener walking back to the dressing room.

You were saying ...,,,....

Azhar playing inside the line. Typical muddled thinking at the start of the innings. The bowling on display is nothing special and deserves a positive response from the Pakistan batsmen.

Our comical batting begins. Azhar back to the hut before I could make a cup of tea. No technique to play on such tracks. What a load of rubbish.

If he survives the opening spell either side of Dinner, Babar to get a 170 - let's see, where he ends.

Starc sledging Babae and Babae laughing

Please shut this clown up today Babar.

We really need 2 good openers. Both Sami and Azhar are not good enough. It's unlikely we survive 40 overs against Starc & Haze co.

People may want to bash Umar but 7 years ago he at least showed he wasn't going to back down and actually took the attack to Aussies ... that's what we need ... Get Sharjeel & Umar in the test team, it'll add much needed dynamism to our line up. Back both of them and tell them to play their game.

PCB has to be blamed for Azhar's downfall. Not needed to play him in ODI.

lol even when Sami looks to play a shot he can't punish a bad ball and merely gets a single ... that's what being in a defensive mindset will do

I m afraid even if we survive this first spell without much damage Jackson bird would be flying all over us. Remember we hv a habit of turning new bees into super stars over nite.

Seeing Hazlewood bowl Jaffas can't help but think that Asif would be doing the same !!

InshAllah, a hundred runs partnership coming up. Own this moment, boys! You're playing for Pakistan at the Gabba, not even 1% of the country gets to do this.

Their game is Pokemon Go after they head back to the pavilion.

These Aussies are screaming like they're being eaten alive, SMH. "These nervousness are going to be there for a while" - Waqar.

I watched for 3/4 hours of Salman in last 2/3 Days - he will easily do better than Azhar as opener in AUS. Azhar's first reaction is to come on front-foot - if anything bounces just about knee height, he is almost unbalanced, while he commits to front-foot too early - slight movement, he is dead duck - either LBW or caught at slips. Butts first movement is shifting body weight to back foot & then he adjusts according to length - only wicket where Azhar can out stay him is where cricket & hockey played together. For his high back-lift, Butt 'll struggle, on wickets where good length ball doesn't raise over ankle, aka Abu Dhabi, Dubai; but he will be far better opener in AUS & SAF, may be in IND/BD/SRL as well.

Absolutely and wait for the likes of Jackson birds to hv a go at our timid batters.

On a side note, how's younis khan going to survive one full over on this pitch under the given conditions is making me nervous.

High quality display of cricket. 4 youngsters on their way to make a mark in cricketing history.

Exactly, Boss.

That's why Butt is the Pakistan GOAT in Australia.

Both U19 prodigies doing well so far to defend and not lose wicket.

Sami's leaving is still impeccable. He surely knows where his off-stump is and almost always adjusts for late movement.

Really hope they do well on this tour. With them and Azhar, Shafiq and Sarfaraz, our batting is pretty set even considering the retirement of Misbah and Younis.

I believe your talking about Salman Bhat playing in the QAE final where the conditions are completely opposite. Remember Azhar Ali has scored a triple ton with the same technique 3 tests ago. I think with our batters it's more about a mental disintegration than technique when they tour out side Asia barring Younis khan whose technique warrants a lot of reassessment. Mentally you can say he is still a tough nut to crack.
