If it's gonna hit the stumps, then why can't it be given out!?

If it pitches outside leg stump, you cannot be given LBW as someone said.

The reason for that is to prevent bowlers from consistently bowling only on a leg stump/ outside leg stump line and thereby cutting off almost any offside play for the batsman.

In short, all a bowler would have to do would be to ball leg stump all the time, reduce any offside play, and take wickets as well.

Thus by this rule, you force the bowler to bowl other lines as well if he wants LBWs.
