Australia v Pakistan | 5th ODI | Adelaide | Jan 26, 2017 | Pakistan Innings

For once, Pakistan might be looking to bat out their full allocation of 50 overs and ending the tour on scoring around 280-300being 8 or 9 down.
 
Why has Babar's batting regressed during this series? Has really struggled to rotate the strike, and this guy is supposed to be our best batsman. This is really poor batting from him, chasing 370. Has already played too many dots. If he can't improve on this series in the future, will eventually become a minnow basher, scoring hundreds against the likes of Windies and Sri Lanka.

I am going to say this before Umar fans do. What could poor Umar do coming in with over 8+ an over required? Cant blame him
 
Babar has again got a start , needs to make it count this time. No Pakistani batsman gets starts in every match.
 
Babar has some issues but he will overcome it eventually. Best available Pakistani batsman at the moment.

You can't really create pressure in 16 balls, especially when people know Sharjeel will make runs.

I was just making fun of people who like to claim this and that creates pressure on the other player to defend their favorites. Have only seen Pak fans use this logic. If it was the other way round (i.e Azhar scored 2 of 8) guaranteed you guys would be the first one to use that excuse

Pressure is amplified on the international stage, those 16 balls can feel like a lifetime when Sharjeel is in full tuk tuk mode at the other end.

The difference though is axhar didn't get out trying to hit a boundary , he was beaten by a very good delivery.
 
Both Sharjeel and Babar look assured at the crease. Just that they forever seem stuck in 2nd gear.
 
Sharjeel playing sensibly. Needs to hang out a bit and then go berserk.No point scoring quick 30s and 40s
 
Pakistani bowling fired in two matches but batting failed in 4 and cahsed the target of 220 in 48 overs. Fielding and catching were awful as usual.

This excuse is often used to justify players like Umar throwing their wickets away when they do that anyways. How come Warner never got under pressure and threw his wicket away when Head was going at 50 strike rate? Anyways dont want to derail this thread

Oh yah his fans do it quite often and that's a poor excuse but it has happened plenty of times in past that a flurry of dots in first ten overs causes the other partner to feel pressure of scoring quickly and lose his wicket. Umar though always throws his wicket away.

Actually it does create pressure on other batsman if his partner is slow. Shikhar dhawan is seen getting out trying to accelerate due to rohit being very slow starter.In Warner case he is an outstanding batsman and even if the other player is doing fine he will play like that only.Its his natural game.
 
Even here if sharjeel decides he is going to accelerate he wouldn't be affected by Babar slow batting because its sharjeel's natural game.
 
3 consecutive 50s for Sharjeel. Amazing to see a Pakistani opener doing so well in Australia.

Was called a hack and all sorts of names initially.

What would be better is to partner Sharjeel Khan with Mukhtar Ahmed or Khalid Latin or any other pinch hitter who is given the license to create fireworks from the first ball and who can be presisted with for a year.

Throw out Umar Akmal, Azhar Ali.
 
They had a thing back in the day , final total is usually the double you score in first 30. For Pakistan its first 20.

Babar doesn't have game to accelerate at the moment. He should work on it.There are not many chinks in his armor though.

Is Babar playing selfishly?

a SR of 73 in INEXCUSABLE in the modern game anyways but when the target is 370 it is a crime!

Is he just playing for himself here?

Also its terribe strategy

If we had Afridi and Razzaq or Maxwell type players coming down the order maybe you could say ok once out of 10 times these guys might succeed in getting 9 an over in the last 15 to win the match.

But we know our lower middle and lower order batting and their capabilities. They just cannot play at 8+ an over for more than 3 overs MAX
