It would be a dream to bat on SA tracks. Anything short and you can back yourself to pull and cut with full reward

What a great Test hundred by Elgar.

The guy has always been a fighter!

Brilliant hundred from Elgar, will be a huge loss to the game when he retires after this series.
Players in a classical test mould are few and far between nowadays

Indian bowling looks weak atp

Survive Bumrah's spell and good to go

Any pitch where KL Rahul scores a hundred cannot be a very difficult one. There is bounce but not much pace in the surface

Just need to play Bumrah and rest is easier.

SA has this test. 100 plus lead will do.

KL Rahul has significantly improved as a batsman since his injury. The pitch is more challenging than it appears, the issue lies in India having only one skilled bowler, Bumrah. Thakur and Prasidh has no business in test cricket.

Tea Break- Day 2, South Africa trail by 51 Runs

Dean Elgar 115*(168)
David Bedingham 32*(47)

Dean Elgar's century deflated India in the Boxing Day Test. Quite a few freebies in the bowling performance by India.

David Bedingham looks so composed and confident. Same thing I saw from Burger when bowling.

great batting by sa. india in trouble here. can they come back?

Krishna & Thakur combined 20-4-98-0 . Saffers will take a 100+ lead & only huge amount of rain can save India from defeat . .

To think all the commies including Amla , Philander & Pollock thought 250 is a good 1st innings total & day 2 would be tougher as pitch will quicken up , why do I not see any rip off the surface & then this 201/3 in 51 overs ....

It happens under the sun. been overcast for last 2 days

Proper domestic grafter. Has performed very well for Durham. His callup was overdue.
I’m going to make a thread using him as a case study for Kamran Ghulam’s inclusion in the Test side. Just goes to show how important the FC graft is, and the right age to ensure that talent doesn’t go to waste or is forgotten.

2 quick wickets and india right back in the game.

Will bavuma bat at all in this game?

100 runs from here and SA will win this game easily.

Elgar playing brilliantly. Pretty lame that he's been told to retire by their test coach.

Bad light stops play in Centurion

South Africa 256/5 in 66 overs, lead by 11 runs on Day 2

South africa would even be more stronger if they didn't have the dreaded race quota they could easily have given an experienced county player ben Compton a run or a talented young batsmen that came through the u19s jordan Hermann.

But then again this is a country that thought a class act like Kevin pietersen was surplus to requirements

So that’s it for Day 2, Stumps. Play has been called off early today as well due to bad light. A day that belonged to Dean Elgar and South Africa as they took lead over India after bowling them out for 245 in the first innings in the morning session,

India with a slight sniff after 2 late wickets. Pitch has gotten easier to bat on, if they can restrict the lead to under 50 it could be game on

India vs South Africa 1st Test, Day 2

South Africa led India by 11 runs before bad light forced early stumps on Day 2 of the ongoing first Test in Centurion. South Africa were 256/5 before bad light stopped play. Dean Elgar was unbeaten on 140 for the hosts, while Marco Janse was also not out on a score of 3. For India, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj took two wickets each while Prasidh Krishna scalped a wicket as well. Earlier, KL Rahul slammed a brilliant 101 to help India post 245. Shortly after scoring his 8th Test ton, Rahul was cleaned up by Nandre Burger, who impressed with three wickets on his debut. Earlier, India managed to put 208 runs on the board at the loss of 7 wickets on Day 1.

It is SA's game from here on. Indian bowling without Shami is not the same.

Prasidh is worthless. Thakur is there to get an odd lucky wicket. His main purpose is to give rest to main bowlers.

Indian top order did not score anything in the 1st innings. You cannot win overseas tests when the top 4 combine to score less than 50 runs. Hope India comes back strong in 2nd innings. They have the batting to do it.

The 3rd day morning session can decide the game. If sa get a lead of 100 - then they are favorites. But if Ind restricts sa to a lead of less than 50- then the 4th innings chase can be tricky for sa. But would say at this stage - sa is the favorite to win this test
