Bangladesh tour of the West Indies (2022)

WI's main problem is spin but they keep making spin friendly pitches. They should accept by now they just don't have ability to play spin. They should make fast bowling pitches where they are competitive team. I bet even 70s-80s WI team would fail against quality spinners.

Correct.

I am surprised they produced turning pitches for this series. These conditions suit BD more than West Indies.

if I remember reading correctly (correct me if I am wrong fellow BD users) - Anamul made over 1000 runs in a domestic cricket tournament and yet he is left out of the team? What is the logic of player selection here? Surely that means he made several centuries and is in hot form and should be given a chance

He was given chances here (this West Indies tour). Failed.

In ODIs we are one of the giants. Tails are up and Tigers are roaring.

They have been doing good in ODI. That's true.

I just don't understand why they don't play well in T20. I think they need a new T20 captain and at least 2 power hitters.

Bangladesh need to learn how to clean up tail.

Another significant 11th wicket partnership.

Clowns at the helm lol.

Anamul was picked for domestic form in 50ov format, but was played in the tests/t20s where he failed and hence dropped before even being given a chance in the format he was picked for in the first place :))

It's like BD playing in mirpur..WI should have gone with a fast bowler pitch then this would have been a good contest. In odi WI is behind BD..you can't win against a stronger team while letting them play in their own element

Big bundle from the windies

Bangladesh - 34/0 (7.3 overs; target: 109).

Good run rate. Finish it within 25 overs.

I don't know why Pooran bowls himself.

This is a low total. Part-timers shouldn't bowl here.

Bangladesh - 34/0 (9 overs; target: 109).

Bangladesh - 41/0 (10 overs; target: 109).

Akeal seems ineffective against the lefties. He is very lethal against right-handed batters.

Shanto needs to improve that average. He is averaging around 16 after 10 games.

Bangladesh - 45/0 (11 overs; target: 109).

Bangladesh - 49/1 (13 overs; target: 109).

This Motie seems like a good spinner. Good find for Windies.

Bangladesh - 67/1 (15 overs; target: 109).

42 more runs to go.

Not sure why West Indies are not playing Roach and Cottrell.

Bangladesh - 93/1 (18 overs; target: 109).

Tamim is on 40*. He is not far from 8000 runs (at 7899 runs currently).

I hope 2023 ODI World Cup will have similar turning pitches.

These pitches are suitable for BD.

Scores are level.

Litton played some delightful shots.

Bangladesh - 108/1 (18 overs; target: 109).

All over. BD win by 9 wickets.

They win the series and go up 2-0.

Tamim also gets his fifty.

This is the 4th successive ODI series win for Bangladesh (against West Indies).

This is also the 10th ODI win in a row for Bangladesh (against West Indies).

Wow, makes absolutely zero sense. Similar to team India, keeps on picking and out of form Kohli for no reason what so ever. Several other players are waiting to replace him ... but he gets in with his previous reputation alone.

P.S who did they give a chance in place of Anamul (thought he used to play as an opener - both liton and tamim is in hot form too and can't be dropped either right?)

Nazmul Hossain Shanto got chance instead of him.

To be honest, Shanto didn't do too bad. Was involved in two good partnerships.

West Indies are just terrible in ODI.

They even lost against Ireland (1-2).

WI are terrible at pretending to give 100% when they are clearly not.

It was not a real game. Watch the WI batting highlights.

I have seen the match live. They struggled against spin which they normally do.

Fixing is not a thing in West Indies. Apart from Marlon Samuels, nobody in West Indies was ever accused of fixing (correct me if I am wrong).

Seems like they are playing musical chairs, first it was Liton and now Shanto.

Bangladesh continued their dominance over the West Indies in 50-over cricket as the Tigers registered their 10th consecutive victory against the opposition Wednesday, and in the process took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Chasing a paltry 109 for a series win in Guyana, the visitors romped to their destination in 20.4 overs losing one wicket with captain Tamim Iqbal leading the way with his 53rd fifty in the format.

Tamim was not out on 50 off 62 balls while Liton Das was unbeaten on a 27-ball 32; Nazmul Hossain Shanto (20) the only wicket to fall for Bangladesh.

Earlier, Bangladesh put in yet another commanding display of bowling as the West Indies were skittled out for just 108 inside 35 overs in the second and penultimate ODI.

Off-spinner Mehedi Hasan Miraz bagged four wickets after his man of the match performance in the first ODI while left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed picked up three as the Windies were rocked in their pursuit of a series levelling victory.

Like the first ODI, Tamim won the toss and put the West Indies in to bat first and once again Bangladesh bowlers made life uncomfortable for the home side with Keemo Paul top-scoring with an unbeaten 25 in a sorry batting card.

Bangladesh made one change with Taskin Ahmed making way for Mosaddek Hossain.

The West Indies made two alterations from the first ODI with Alzarri Joseph and Paul replacing Jaydon Seales and Anderson Phillip.

After winning the first ODI by six wickets Sunday at the same venue, Bangladesh will be looking to make a clean sweep when they take on the hosts in the third and final match of the series Saturday

BRIEF SCORE

West Indies 108 all out off 35 overs (Paul 25*, Miraz 4/29, Nasum 3/19) lost to Bangladesh 112/1 off 20.4 overs (Tamim 50*, Liton 32*; Motie 1/39) by nine wickets

I have followed Liton Das for quite sometime after the century he made against us in the Asia cup. He has been nothing but one of the best openers you guys have had since forever, alongside Tamim. Why would you even consider replacing him considering he has been in hot form recently. I am not familiar with Shanto, but why give him a go instead of Anamul. Is Shanto some kind of a wonder kid that I am not aware off? On cricinfo, his avg is nothing to brag about.

Both Liton and Shanto are in the team. Liton wasn't dropped.

Bangladesh have brought in one extra spinner (Taijul).

So, just one pacer for this game. 4 spinners today.

3rd ODI.

Bangladesh have won the toss and decided to field first (good decision).

Bangladesh have won the toss and have opted to field

West Indies (Playing XI): Shai Hope(w), Brandon King, Shamarh Brooks, Keacy Carty, Nicholas Pooran(c), Rovman Powell, Romario Shepherd, Keemo Paul, Akeal Hosein, Gudakesh Motie, Alzarri Joseph

Bangladesh (Playing XI): Tamim Iqbal(c), Litton Das, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mahmudullah, Afif Hossain, Nurul Hasan(w), Mehidy Hasan, Mosaddek Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Taijul Islam, Mustafizur Rahman

This series has shown why Nasum should play in 2023 World Cup.

Has been quite effective.

50 is up for West Indies.

WI - 51/3 (16 overs).

They are recovering well after being 16/3.

Boundary.

Pooran played some good shots.

WI - 63/3 (22 overs).
