I saw a video where a groom delayed his baraat to vote for PML-N in yesterday's by-elections. When interviewed he said "aik shadi kia aisi bees (20) shadiyan bhi chor doon Nawaz Sharif ke par main", lol. Obviously, a paid servant who decide to play a gimmick to get a few secs of fame on TV but just goes to show the culture. Nawaz Sharif and his party is still very popular in that area and shrinking of vote or not, come real elections, stealing that seat from PML-N is going to be very hard. Having said that, the coming general elections in Punjab are going to be a much closer contest than last time. PPP needs to work harder but this was never their seat to win. Why waste resources when you really don't have a chance. Asif Zardari needs to go back to Dubai and stay in the shadows and let Bilawal run things the way he want to. Unfortunately, that seems very unlikely to happen.

Honestly cant be too harsh on NA 120 people

13k margin isnt end of the world. i was expecting a total rout like 2013 where they won by 50k+ votes.

hopefully its not a one off

The candidate, dr yasmin, showed a lot of heart and literally did door to door campaigning though which is prolly not feasible for a general election

well I have heard rumours that there may be a three way split buts that about the only way to deal with the mafia. Even then there are so many ghunday and dakaits who are in the party that short of a revolution in law enforcement I cant see how to get rid of them. Its basically like 1920's/30's chicago out there.

LAHORE: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced official results of the NA-120 by-election on Wednesday, according to which Kulsoom Nawaz polled 61,745 votes.

According to the result announced by the ECP, 125,129 votes were declared correct while 1,717 votes were rejected as incorrect. Dr Yasmin Rashid secured 47,099 votes to finish at number second in the list of candidates.

Sheikh Azhar Hussain of Tehreek Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah secured 7,130 votes to finish at number three while PPP’s Faisal Mir came in at number four with 1,414 votes while Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ziauddin Ansari 592 votes.

43 candidates in total took part in the by-election.
