One of the wierd twisted tales seen in bollywood. Movie goes through similar pace through out and very consistent in its subtle treatment inspite of the stuff that is happening. Also has a subtle message in the end that somewhere somebody has to stop. I felt like the movie should have had better pace...and probably a little more hard hitting in terms of treatment.

Acting was top Class. Nawazuddin Siddique was pick all of them. Divya Dutta, Huma Qureshi, Vinay Pathak stand out. It was great to see Radhika Apte after a well..she is beautifull and acts well..did not get her due to so far. Liked her in Raktha Charithra and Shor in the city. Varun Dhawan was good...you could see the inexperiance in a few scenes..but overall he carried the intense role Well.

Wont see it is sriram Raghavan's best work...it was missing the riveting performanc of Urmila in Ek Hasina thi..and nor was it as slick as Johnny Gaddar.

Overall a good movie.

Great! watched it already. Good movie. Varun has great potential. Nawaz was riveting as usual. Everyone acted well especially radhika apte.

Imitating hollywood? if the movie was made in hollywood ...people would have been taking meanings out of random interactions, checking for symbolisms and attributing stuff to some random idiotic scenes. But since the movie came in bollywood,people who try hard try to call it wannabe hollywood!..ofcourse everything is wanna be hollywood..the goal is to reach there where hollywood is in terms simple layered movies. It does not mean movie is not original or creative...its just hollywood is 100000 times ahead of us in storylines to everything....and badlapur type movies are steps in right direction.

@frm_da_last_dimension..do not understand what 'wanna be intellectual' is in terms of context of the movie. Would like to hear the explanation. I liked it.

Just listened to a song "chittiyan kalaiyaan" meaning white/fair wrists. Bollywood's obsession with white skin has no bounds. Shameless gutter mentality. But then it is probably my fault to look for any semblance of morality in Copywood.

the meaning of emphasizing on white wrist is, the girl is showing an interest that she ready to get into a relationship and she likes the guy to get her nice silver bangles she is ready to have or she already has one.

And then if there is a movie or an a song you do not like, target the person who made it. Bollywood by itself is huge...there are bad makers and good makers in them. But then if generalizing is u r thing..go ahead.

I hope you mean what you are saying and not being disingenuous. Bollywood (Copywood) has a history of glorying fair skin. In fact Gori is the de facto word to address a girl. I can list at least 10 such songs off the top of my head.

I am not agitated, just pointing out the hypocrisy of this morally bankrupt industry known as Bollywood, where beautiful means fair or white skin, and songs are devoted to glorifying that idea of beauty, in a nation where most of the people have dark skin. I think it is inferiority complex or racism or both.

India by itself has that problem, it is not a bollywood thing. I myself a person with dark skin tone, I know how it is in India. Random people make 'Jokingly' Fun of you. It is a cultural thing, it will slowly change and has to change. Fair and lovely I feel is the biggest culprit and the bollywood stars who have endorsed them too....That is why I like the fact the new age stars..some of them...have a taken a stand against those kind of companies and do not endorse them. India's obsession with white skin is a big bussiness...so it wont die down easily. So that is my stand on the issue...

I never said that the problem is only limited to Bollywood ( I wish it was). Yes it is a cultural issue, but Bollywood is further propagating that idea. And since this is Bollywood thread, I wanted to point that out.

I have been noticing things things in Bollywood from the day I started becoming intellectual. I compiled a list of character names of police officers, good cops, bad cops, businessmen, politicians etc and found casteism. Same with "eve teasing" and sexual harrassment. Misogyny and homophobia. Problem is that Bollywood makes these things cool. And given that it is the biggest influence on out culture, this is very dangerous. And this is why I have been a crusader against Bollywood.
 
Anyway, you are free to call me a troll, but my view on Bollywood has been the same. And I will never shy away from pointing that out. Got to go for my 5km daily run, without which I get mood swings.
 
Pakistani actresses in Dramas are way more beautiful than Indian actresses I dont know why because India also have Miss Universe in their movies

I have been watching Pakistani serials of late, and one thing that I notice is that they show the elite class, where even the old lady of the house has perfect eye brows and all have fair skin. I think it is easier to be a dark skin person in India than in Pakistan, because Pakistanis seem to pride themselves in having fair skin.

^^^^ Have fun. I feel like you are barking at a wrong thing...which will not solve issues. A good bollywood movie promoting goodness will not change a society....nor does a bad one. It is entertainment...and names and all...I think you have a conclusion...and then you search for stuff that points you to that conclusion . Bollywood has shown inter religious , inter caste marriages and how they are wrong...and how many socially evils are wrong in many melodramatic movies as well. Did that change anything, I personally do not believe so. Movies are made against dowry on a monthly basis...dowry is as prevalent as breathing. I feel like people who are looking for solutions in industry of 40 years for cultural problems..is empty slactivism....it gives people ..oh look I am shouting...but there is no end result that will come out of it. It is just noice..and empty slactivism for people's own ego.

It is show bussiness...a 3 hr entertainment...Hum aapke Hain Kaun did not stop nuclear families from getting created. I do agree with bollywood stars should not endorse product likes fair and lovely....but I do not put the onus on them...because for an actor or an actresses it is great money and great visibility....which somebody else is going to snatch. It is superb if they say no to it....but I do not put onus on them. It is a capital world..and everybody has to do their thing. I do not respect and give any celebrity that kind of importance....

Fat shaming because there is no reason for being so fat. Why don't people move their lazy posterior and go for a jog instead of finding excuses not to work out. Ageist? Calling someone an aunty is not being ageist, it only shows your bias. I have been friends(!) with many aunties, some even double my age, so don't accuse me of being an ageist.

When did it become okay to remove people of their choice to be ..and start shaming according to what you think they should correct themselves. What you just saw should ideally land a man in jail, preferably with boxed ears for long lasting effect.
But that was not what happened in the film, thanks to the man's emphatic claim that he is a 'premi, aashiq, awaara, pagal, majnu, deewana'. He goes on to win the girl over followed by whatever happens in all Bollywood love stories.
Basically according to Bollywood, since the man claimed to be a 'lover' in various Hindi words, his being a lech was completely okay. But as environmental activist and director general of TERI, RK Pachauri found out, that reasoning doesn't work in the real world.

I just like movies...and watch them...and I have basic intellect to know what is right from wrong. Indian Men need to learn a lot of things...especially some men who attribute rape, sexual harrassment to bollywood....I mean how in less controll of your libido should one be to go and harass somebody after watching a song or something. Dont't blame the guy for not having common effing sense...but blame something else. If only some Indian men can give themselves more credit for their actions....

Bollywood is not without its problems...There is lot that is wrong with bollywood...or even hollywood. There are stereotypes..there are idiotic things...but at the end of the day..it is entertainment. Rapes happen due to lack of empathy....lack of respect to other person...lack of respect for themselves. There are regressive stuff in bollywood..and in hollywood....but there is no point screaming for every random bad thing that happened and assign to one movie out of 10000000 movies that come out every year!

I like movies or songs..and its fun for me and gives me entertainment. End of story. i do not want anything else from show bussiness.

But i do want is india and some Indians to actually look at the source of the problem...then...shout at the most visible thing.

For example..Let us take rape..or honour killings..

Now, I think Idea that Girl is 'Ghar Ka Izzat' or Honor of the family started from the mythological times (Ramayana) or from the stories of those times. Idea that Girl is a item of object and can be used to take revenge on the men in the family..started from those times....Everytime an sorry excuse of a man wants to show he is superior....he went to that route of harassing or raping or whatever. this Honor thing has also stripped the women of their personalities..and be whomever they want to be and constrained them into what society wants......but remain an symbol of honor to the family. That is source of women of the problem...to educate people....not cutting women of from expressing their sexuality...or not stopping makers showing women...! Now if a guy watches a sunny leone song..and rapes another women...the problem is not sunny leone..or the song...but the guy who has no respect for other person's consent....or the Guy who thinks Rape shows that he is superior...or raping a women shows the family she belongs to in bad light. A Person shouting a sunny leone song as reason for that rape..is as much a part of the problem.

Nope.None what so ever. I have no problem with men exposing in bollywood either...which is happening in same scale with younger fit Bollywood actors. It is fun...i like watching sexy women on screen. Now Bollywood has invited an adult actress and turned her into a mainstream name. Of course, all in the name of modernity. because she has white skin and did her stuff in the west, it is also a source of pride. And what roles does she get? More skin show of course, all in the name of modernity and open mindedness. If kids find out about her and get exposed to porn, that is their fault, not Bollywood's. If people enjoy her skin show and see women as sexual objects, that is their fault, not Bollywood's. Bollywood is completely absolved from its responsibility. Responsibility, what responsibility? We are a show business. We are here to entertain, not here for a social change. And all those blaming us can go to hell.

In my opinion these 'exposing actors and actresses' are destroying the morales of the society. It might not directly contribute to rape, etc.

But for sure it bring out the 'frustration' in men and who seek to fulfill their lust. Moreover, I think this also destroys marriages, as you don't find your wife that attractive anymore.
 
Right, Porn did not exist and kids did not watch porn before. And It is awesome, that nobody makes a big deal out of it and let her act in whatever movies she acts. Atleast by watching porn, if people learn that consent is an absolute necessary like shown in porn..it would be great. There are all sorts of movies...there as many bollywood movies where women are very strong characters....normal men understand that a sexually attractive and expressive women can have strong personalities and interests...that is what you need to take out of bollywood as a whole...not just one. Attributing women to holieur than thou spirituality and strip of her sexual being...or just watch her as a sexual object...both are wrong..and in context of the movie...and what makers is trying to show...different aspects are focused. if people do not have an IQ to understand that...whose problem is it?

What????????? Fustration? Yes...it is suppose to invoke sexual feelings..and then you are supposed to go jack off...or find a consenting adult. Movies are supposed to invoke emotion of any kind..however empty it may be. If morals of the society is based on the dressings...than I dont know what to say.

And if somebody else does not find himself attracted to his partner anymore...he needs to communicate. Not want to the whole world to look less attractive. It is nonsense..if not in movies..you will see other people in real also now. Then what?

It's the fact that you show all these 'plastic' and 'overly dipped in make-up' women that makes you want to find a partner that is just as good looking. Basically, you end up looking at women as a peace of meat, at least that's how they are being objectified in Bollywood, hollywood or any other film industry at the moment.

They come across as nothing more than objects to fulfill your lust.

So you are claiming that bollywood doesn't have obsession with fair skin?Then name me at least 5 mainstream dark skinned artist..lol the lengths people go to defend crappywood.

I agree with you but still. kajol, rani etc are dark skinned to me and there were top actresses. even at the height of their popularity in kutch kutch hota hai they were dark skinned. priyanka is very dark too extremely soo and that's three and if u include deepika and bipasha that's 5.
 
^^^ May be if you read more you would know i did not say that. Yes there is a bias because there is beauty is perceived by the society. It is the bi-product of the society. Deepika, Priyanka etc are no way fair skinned who are both top actresses . Ajay Devgn, Akshay even Big B is not fairskinned.There are quite a few artists like Konkana Sen sharma who had more than a decent career...

Point is Bollywood does not have...India has an an obsession..so they cater to it like any bussiness with some actors chooses only for their beauty. As society changes, we are seeing artists more. Fair skinned models is not just an india's problem too...ration of white supermodels to aftican american supermodels is bad in USA too....Anyway ! sick of making same points again and again..

Ratio of white super models to black supermodels is bad in the USA too!!. ROFLMAO. Yet another attempt to ape USA without knowing the context. USA is majority white, so that will reflect in the number of super models. But the reverse is true for India. Majority of Indians are dark skinned, yet we have to struggle to find dark skinned actresses and models. India is simply obsessed with white skin.

Lol you have clearly haven't been to India if you consider above 3 dark skinned.Majority of Indian girls are darker than rani,kajol and PC.India is not limited to few northern states you see.

What is there for LOL here? U asked for dark skinned girls in bollywood and i gave their names. I did say that i agree with you about bollywood and its fair skin bias.These actress may looker lighter on account of make up but there are very dark skinned and they are mainstream top actress . i know india is not limited to northern states. But bollywood is. It represents north india only.
 
All the South Indian actresses are dark and probably bad looking if they are born in South like Asin,Kajal

PUHleez!! I live in india only. yes there are people darker than priyanka but still that does not make Priyanka fair skinned. she is dark or dusky. My another point is bollywood represents north india only. just because non north indians watch it because of the language and for the fact that bollywood is situated in mumbai does not mean it represents rest of us. Surely u know that.

That is because you posted revealing pics the last time. No, she is not very dark, she is wheatish. And movies show her two shades lighter and not her real skin color.
 
Your other point is not relevant to the topic being discussed here.And no bollywood doesn't represent north India ONLY.Yes its heavily influenced by punjabi culture but that doesn't mean they have some copyright over it.

Mainly upper caste chicks are light skinned here and last time i checked they are in minority.

Some of the white toned girls are also ugly like Kalki Koechlin and I am not saying dark toned girls are not beautiful even my first crush was a dark toned girl but there has to be some fair skinned girl so that people can be hypnotized in cinema if the movie is gong boring
 
Was switching channels and saw Cocktail for a few minutes. So logged in to express my disgust for this movie.

This movie is so modern, than there are three friends, one guy and 2 girls, who stay in the same apartment, and the guy sleeps with one of them in a no strings attached "friendship". Then they fall in love with each other, and the guy marries one of them, and they all still remain good friends. Well done Bollywood. You keep lowering your gutter standards. I know all this moral depravity happens in Bollywood circles, but now they are shameless enough to make movies out of it.

Have not seen a single 2015 release yet. Baby, Badlapur, Roy, Dolly Ki Doli or Shamitabh.

You are right. I always considered Bollywood as glorified farce, in fact worse. But morality and values, that is the core of our existence. Otherwise what separates us from animals?
