What's new

Bollywood Corner

Watched Drishyam it was a very good movie but they could have gone for someone elder for the wife of Ajay

Yaar ye burger mentality rhene dey.

Not all Bollywood or even Pakistani movies are all bad. I used to think along the same lines because I used to compare Hollywood with Bollywood, and try to compare it to that standard, but now have come to enjoy them (the good ones, not the cheesy Salman Khan bhangra nonsense). Just like there is a lot of garbage in Hollywood in the form of Adam Sandler movies, you have to look past the garbage in desi film industry as well, because it's an improving industry and you'll still find ones with good plot lines and good actors/actresses.

I guess in a way you must have lived in South Asia to connect better with the movies, if you've lived abroad for most of your life it's hard to get into it. Same case with cricket. A lot of my Pakistani/Indian friends who've lived in the US, Turkey or wherever outside of their countries find it very tough to appreciate cricket and have 0 interest in it, which is understandable since it's a sport you need to be born into.

I don't know why so much hate against Salman? I mean I know some of his movies are quite bad but for past few years his movies have been quite good barring Prem one and Jai Ho.Kick was good but somehow people don't like because it has fake scenes but the same thing happens in Hollywood and those idiots are jumping around.BB was a GOAT and Sultan was quite good as well

Bollywood is the worst tbh. (Dont count Lollywood since no one even watches that rubbish lol) You cant blame the filmmakers for making such garbage because the people here in Pakistan go in hordes to watch some absolute filth. Can't imagine what its like in India itself. One of the things Im looking forward to when I go to Canada. I can actually watch decent movies in the cinema when they come out instead of embarrassingly delivered dialogue and some dance scene after every 10 minutes. Not that I watch Hollywood movies. Maybe watch 4 or 5 in a year when Im forced too.

Lol who can forget Ra One. I was forced to watch that when it come out and it still haunts me. It was torture. I was wishing I could watch Batman & Robin when I was in the cinema. Thats how bad it was.

I have just watched Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara.Don't know what's the fuss about? I mean the movie is good but not excellent.I mean that film basically tells us to forget caring about your family, love, career and just live our life I mean what a stupid movie

Ae dil hai Mushkil Teaser Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai, Anushka sharma and Fawad Khan

Directed by Karan Johar. If Karan Johar's recent talk shows, articles and his movies as producer are anything to go by..this should be a welcome change for him as a director. Looks great !

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/GdNKsW-E_po" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Not a fan of Rajasthani background movies but might give it a try,if its short.

Good chance of making a huge loss on this one,hip background music though Har har!

Do u believe all the controversy over this film Kamal khan kJo etc?

just googled weird didnt know ,could be publicity stunt but u never know.Tbh it does look like its gonna be a flop so he(krk) was correct on that

What beautiful song. I think title song was mesmerizing but this one is epic

Thanks will hopefully check it out.

Forgot to mention Amitabh Bachchan performance as a lawyer. This man is unreal at this age. Shame such good movies which we can relate to in real life don't make the money which some crappy old masala movies do.

That will always be the case till cinema is a mode of escapism for average public.

Pink is an amazing movie! Absolutely loved it.

And that song 'Bulleya' from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is mesmerizing.

He was awesome in Wazir as well from 2 months back where he played a paraplegic.

Movie made 38 crores in 3 days all over the world. It is double the budget in 3 days and also increased 120 % jump in collections on sunday compared to Friday.

Lot of great movies get amazing collections now...ofcourse not a salman starrer...but that is not expected. Regularly small movies like these are touching 100 crores or even crossing it these days...

Movie watching public's taste have imoproved massively. Raaz which is a successful franchise could not make half as much releasing the same weekend.

2016 for Bollywood so far:

All Time Blockbuster:
Sultan - 300.67 cr

Super Hit:
Airlift - 123.46 cr
Rustom - 123.88 cr

Hits:
Housefull 3 - 108 cr
Baaghi - 76 cr
Neerja - 72 cr
Kapoor and Sons - 69 cr

Above Average/Semi Hit:
Dishoom - 67 cr
Ki & Ka - 52 cr

Pink and MS Dhoni are currently running in cinemas and will probably emerge hits.

Pink lifetime is around 62 cr and it's a Super Hit while MS Dhoni Biopic has done 88.63 cr in 6 days, it fell heavily in weekdays but this Friday's release is Mirziya which is going to flop hard so that will help Dhoni.

My most awaited films of 2017:

1. Raees
2. The Ring (working title of SRK-Anushka-Imtiaz Ali film)
3. Tubelight
4. Padmavati
5. Tiger Zinda Hai
6. Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya
7. Jolly LLB 2
8. Kaabil
9. Rangoon
10. Crack

Mirziya early reviews is very good.

Here we go:

Mirzya is a huge disaster. The collections could not even manage to grow on day two and the film will suffer losses of huge magnitude. The satellite may have been pre sold which will hedge some of the losses for the producer but the holder of satellite rights will lose a big chunk of the investment. The collections on Monday are likely to be scary as a drop on Saturday for a multiplex film is a shocker. The collections of Mirzya for the first two days are as follows.

Friday - 1,75,00,000
Saturday - 1,50,00,000
TOTAL - 3,25,00,000

Raman Raghav 2.0 film of 2016 for me easily, the dialogues self destructive behavior and characters from all over India, remkarable.
Anurag is defn my fav director from Gulaal,Dev D to GOW and now this amazing.

Expecting a lot from Vicky Kaushal now.

Raees looks good. Shahrukh is going to rock it with this role, he looks menancing. Good to see him doing such role. Shame it's clashing with Kaabil as this could been a massive hit which SRK really needs. Anyways still will be a hit. Nawazuddin is such a exceptional actor. Going to be great seeing him as police officer vs SRK.

Raees looks terrible, its a combination of Once Upon a Time in Mumbai+Rowdy Rathore. Srk has officially lost it he has no idea what kind of movies to do anymore.
Only saving grace for that movie would be Nawaz

Dangal looks something to watch out for.

Tiger zinda hai ? ist the sequal of aik tha Tiger of salman khan ?

Yes the sequel of Ek tha Tiger. Salmam Khan is just repeating his same movies again and again and they turn out to be blockbusters due to ad they be Eid release, this Tiger Zinda hair might be a Christmas release so guaranteed Blockbuster status.
Only film of his to look forward to is Tubelight which might be something a bit different. After that their is Ek Tha Tiger sequel, Kick sequel and Dabang sequel.
And they all will be blockbusters unfortunately as they will be Eid releases.

Tiger zinda hai ? ist the sequal of aik tha Tiger of salman khan ?

First it was ek tha tiger, now it is tiger zinda hai. Next it will be tiger to kabhi mara hi nahi. Then it will be tiger chimpanzee hai. And so on. Such titles will make you believe Bollywood is running out of good names for movies.

I love Andaz Apna Apna man , one of the golden golden movies in Bollywood ! It can have a thread of it's own ! What's your favourite dialogue from the movie ?

If you like suspen/ thriller

Kahaani and Byomkesh Bakshi - One of the best bollywood movies I'v seen

Coomedy = Andaz Apna Apna , Jaane bhi Do Yaaro ( from the 80s) , Golmaal , MunnaBhai moves are quite decent

Its hard to pick one. It has so many gems.
From the top of my mind:

crime master gogo's dialogue "crime master gogo naam hai mera, aankhe nikaal ke gotiya khelta hu" and "aaya hu kuch to leke jaaunga, khandaani chor hu mai". :yk

Also amir khan's dialog "mai to kehta hu aap purush hi nahi . . . .mahapurusg hain mahapurush" ( this one is still used by many people as a joke) and "suno suno duniya ke logo sab se bada hai mister gogo". Also "gogo ji aapka ghaagra" :)))

"Teja mai hu, mark idhar hai" :))

"Galti se mistake hogaya" (still in popular use)

Man that movie should be declared an evergreen classic. I so wish they make a sequel of it with salman and amir. I know it would be hard to match the first one but still will be a dream come true.

Oh man ! haha I am smiling at work now thinking about that movie ! hahaha I definitely need to rewatch it.

I love it when go to the cemetary at night and Aamir is like - Darta kyun hai and Salman says - Darta nahin hoon , bas thoda ghabrata hoon Haha !

And yeah gogoji aapka ghaghara is classic !

Man, how much I adore this movie , I actually heard that they are making a seconde part to it , I really wish they do , Salman and Aamir have amazing chemistry. I really hope they do and try to keep the same cast - Salman needs to bulk down for this so he could still look goofy.

Watched a punjabi movie jut and juliet. It was a good comedy movie . And Ofcourse thrill, suspense and comedy is what i love to watch.

It's a Priyadarshan film. So obviously a remake ! It is a remake of the 1989 South Indian (Malayalam) film Ramji Rao Speaking.

To his credit..some of his remakes were his remakes only from 1980s malayalam.Hera pheri is siddique's though...

To his credit..some of his remakes were his remakes only from 1980s malayalam.Hera pheri is siddique's though...

But most of his malayalam work are also remkes/inspired from Hollywood films.. But his reasoning for that is acceptable.. "Majority of the malayalam speaking population would never have seen those films otherwise, so I made those movies more accessible to our people by remaking them ."

That is pretty much his logic for remaking countless Malayalam movies in Hindi.. To make them more accessible to a much wider audience..

Here are a list of some of the best known Malayalam remakes in Bollywood ..

Watched the latest film starring Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan - both very talented individuals.

Great to see Karan Johar getting his :butt handed to him by Kangana Ranaut . First in the Koffee Interview and then in the media, after he made his obnoxious statemnts.. People like him have created the impression that Bollywood is some sort of family business, with the countless mediocre star kids and siblings he and his ilk keep on shoving down our throats. And Who is he to question the credibility of an ACTOR with 3 NATIONAL AWARDS !..
