Bowlers dominate Bangladesh as Pakistan eye victory

They did not bowl well. Even if it is a good pitch you still have to bowl well, which like I said Yasir has done but don't be fooled about his future prospects. He is nothing great.

He is Great... As per Shane Warne :afridi

Yes like I said, he has bowled well today so credit to him. However, don't get ahead of yourselves. These are all false hopes.

We should have played two spinners here, not Imran.

Pakistan should've gone with Zulfiqar Babar instead of the fake Imran Khan, the wicket has turn..

Yes yes yes yes huge wicket.

Go put your head on the pillow and cry every bowler is nothing for you no one has become an all round great from any country in the last 10 ten years accept maybe Anderson for england and you why do you set expectations so high for eveyone. Everyone can't be an all time great give yasir shah a break.

If we manage to bowl bangladesh out cheaply tomorrow, we should bat again and look to set them 600-700 to win and see how they then handle the pressure,

I don't set high expectations, I don't like overrating.

Bowlers like Yasir etc. are decent at best, and largely mediocre yet they are labelled as fantastic talents. We love to set ourselves up for disappointment.

totally agree we cannot give them a sniff..put them under pressure on this turner!

you forget one thing, batsmen are used to masala cricket now and even a decent leggie will make them dance in todays world..Other than India in odi's I cant see any team in the world (perhaps saffers) handle decent (not even world class) spin.

Trust me I know how you think they are average bowlers but this is the best we have were not a Pakistani team from the past with the likes of mushtaq, wasim, waqar, qadir so this is what we've got and we've got to support them. Also I don't have high expectations from them I know my team and cricket very well.

There's setting up to be disappointed (over hyping) and then there's pessimistic. I would say you are overly pessismistic. Oh, and Hello.

He wont succeed v SL, India, South Africa etc., not a bowler of their calibre. Even against Bangladesh he struggled in the last Test when there wasn't much in the pitch for him.

Hello, first post and you know me already, well. For how long have you been lurking?

Brilliant day for us. If we don't win the match from this position, then there is something seriously wrong with our players.

It was an average day in my opinion, we lost too many wickets at the end of the innings and should have got 600 on the board, while all three pacers were too expense.

You always say that this player won't do well against this side. How do you know that? Can you see the future or something? Seriously please stop with your pessimistic predictions.

Well done sir- how people can judge somebody as mediocre after 20 days in international cricket I do not know.
All us pakistanis want is for our players to grow and develop. Nobody comes in on the first day and is great.
Shane Warne has given a good review and the way he has developed the googly- are good promising signs.

So Mamoon please just stop. We know now that you will probably just wait for him to have a bad few days to say you told us- but why adopt that mindset in the first place!?

Most of them turn out be correct, so why stop?

I haven't been impressed with him, so should I lie and give fake assessment because people wont like it?

Is that the worth of honesty?

perhaps but if he can keep an end quiet and apply pressure the scoreboard and tactics can help him. remember moeen ali turned into warne against India and we beat them in 2005 with afridi and khalil in the side..test cricket is about mental strength too.

Won't beat India in UAE later this year, it will be either a draw or a defeat.

Savour this win, because some heavy defeats are coming our way. First SL and then India, although we should win v England.

I think we can draw against India and we may sneak a fighting draw/win against the lankans..we should beat england..

Be honest and acknowledge that people normally grow into international cricket and legspin is probably the most difficult art in the game

He is almost 29 and has played F/C for 10 years and his development has been average.

If he was a youngster, I'd have been very excited, but not now.

Mamoon has atleast one quality, he don't back up from his initial opinions, no matter how much he get owned for those, and he consider himself as person who know cricket better than anyone else on this forum. So take a bow Mamoon.

Hello, first post and you know me already, well. For how long have you been lurking?

I have seen some of your posts because of your avatar/profile picture. I joined last year with a visit now and again. I try to avoid this place when Pak lose because it seems the apocalypse just started.. Your posts stuck out in some threads which can be critical, debatable whether they're constructive or controversial at times although I can't pick any specific posts. Anyway, off back to my lurking spot. :)

Overall was a good day with a few areas of concern. I watched in between doing other tasks. Junaid's sloppy deliveries but recovered well. Imran looked like Gully in run up, walk and action. Didn't see Yasir that much but BANG struggled with the googlies (some plan and intelligence could be good). Lack of decent tail means failure of top order would be concerning.

What did you think of Asif when he played in australia- first time around?! And what did you think about him a few years later.
What did you think about Amla the first time in the series against England.
Sangakarra in his first 5 years?
Now is the time to be honest.

Even azhar is peaking now.

Maybe u should try using or own brain for a change. Making or own judgements is a good start towards independent thought, no??

So my prediction after the toss was right. Bangladesh made the most nonsense decision one can ever make by deciding to bowl first with their lethargic pathetic pacers and one ordinary offi in Shuvagota. I said that I would be very surprised if Pakistan fail to post 500 and win the match. Unfortunately my words have come true. Infact innings defeat is hanging over our head now.

Even azhar is peaking now.

That is the same with 99% players. First is the time to invest, like we have invested in Azhar and Shafiq, Australia with Smith, NZ with Williamson, then comes the productivity.

These guys did not produce the output in the first few years- that they are now.

I'm hoping Rahat will be the same. Some players need more time than others

Absolutely, but being stubborn and upright in the face of somebody who is more knowledgable (in theory and physical output) than you is plain ignorance.
Warne only said he saw little things that show him Yasir has potential. Obviously Yasir himself needs to do the hard work.

^and there is absolutely no reason to be hasty in passing judgement about a person who has played 20 days of international cricket.
LET HIM DEVELOP AND GROW.

That is all most of us are saying.

Good day, long way to go though.

I see the pessimism has already started amongst a certain user :))

Oh and good to see Yasir Shah's Googly coming on well.

Mushtaq pointed out he was ironing out a couple of issues he had with his deliveries, so it's always good to see improvements.

Good day for Pakistan, I hope there is some wear and tear on day 3 and day 4 so that it gets tougher for Bangladesh.

Good day for the boys.

Pakistan must win this test to make something of this miserable tour !

It's been a good day for Pakistan as few of their player reached their milestones, with our bowlers picking up quick wickets to put Bangladesh to back foot, we are for the first time in a good position to secure our first win on this tour.

Pak are well on top now. Bangla in real strife. Well played Azhar on the double ton. Interesting few days ahead.

Not few days buddy!! Given the way we are batting (tired and careless), the pitch and Pakistan bowling , The match might be over today (3rd day)......
What a bad test match for bangladesh...
