Almost 3 days got washed and an action packed fourth day inspired new life into a dead rubber. So can India claim an unexpected victory here against the Bangladesh Tigers or the resolve of Bengal Tigers will pour water on their over ambitious quest.

With just a day left to produce a result, can India do something special or is it just a bold attempt that won't bear fruits?
 
This wicket is a pudding. IOW, batsmen are only going to get out if they are going for their shots or through their own ineptness. Defensive batters are super hard to get rid of on this wicket.

India have proved BD are not as good as pakistanis made them look. But they are still good enough to survive till tea and beyond on what is still a Day 3 pitch. Easiest conditions to bat. India are not going to chase anything like 150-180 in 30 or so overs.

It will be very hard to force a result with 2 full days of cricket, but Indians played the most aggresive batting in test cricket in entire history and if BD does not last and if India can repeat the same aggresiveness ... Too many ifs. I think BD can hang with a draw.
 
Pitch has no demons. If you apply yourself you can survive two sessions scoring 100 each session. BD can draw the Test. India is going to rely on pressure more than help from the surface which offers nothing.
 
Depends on first session. need to bundled out them around 170 .india can chase 120 runs even in 17-20 overs left

No pitch is playing the trick now. Ball is coming very slow on the bat if Bangladesh mindsets is only about survival then they will lose this test.

They need to Score runs as well or atleast bat for minimum 70 overs tomorrow.

yea that is why i mentioned pressure. They were tremendously under pressure.
 
Can India force a result and defeat Bangladesh? Of course they can.

We bowled Bangladesh out in 74 overs in the first innings. On a slightly worse pitch, I would think we can do it in 65ish. Which would mean about a target of 150 (assuming a runrate of 3) to get in 30ish overs...maybe slightly less given the innings break - under 6 runrate. Sure yes it can be done given today's display.

Will they do it? Now that's a tougher question. When the margins are so fine, 1 partnership can finish the chances of a result.
 
they are supposed to bowl 98 overs tomorrow. I doubt they an get more than 80 in and if BD is smart they will slow down the game. Lets say 82 overs and 2 overs for innings break allowing total 80 overs to be bowled. BD need to survive atleast 50 overs score a bit positively, say at 3.5. Even with that they will end up with around 200 score (58 x 3.5 = 175 + 26 already scored). India will need to score 150 to win in around 30. They will go for it. Even if BD blocks for 60 overs and say scores at 2.5 then will have 150 + 26 = 176. India target will be 125 in 20 overs and I am sure India will go for it.

For draw BD has to play 60 overs at least and scored around 3.5 to 4. That is not easy to do against, Ashwin, Jadeja, bumrah, Siraj and Akshadeep. Even Indian team might struggle for 50+ overs against Ashwin, Jadeja and bumrah under tremendous pressure to save the match. It is possible, as it is still day 3 pitch but still improbable. India can win this
 
We sure can win. On this pitch, the spinners can surely bowl out Bangladesh within 2 sessions. It will be a huge task for Bangladesh to eke out a draw against a fire breathing Indian side.
 
I think Bangladesh need to play for win too, otherwise the survival mindset could be their demise.

Trust me. BD losing this. I feel there will be a collapse after lunch day 5. Just the BD batting ways. Know them long enough.
 
Yes. India can.

As a matter of fact, India may get a win before Tea (if there is a bad collapse from BD).
 
How will india fan's react if india lost the test by chasing 180 runs in 30 overs?

Toughest chase India had in recent times was the one that Gill and Jurel pulled it off against England. I gave up and went to bed. Pleasantly surprised to see the result next morning. Even tougher one was Mirpur chase from 74/7.
 
Draw is the most probable result .
Wicket is still good to bat on, if Bangladesh don't throw away their wickets, they can bat the whole day with 200+ lead and no time left for the result.
 
India playing with the intention to win this game if they somehow get bangladesh all out before tea so i am sure they would have a gr8 chance to win this game.
 
Unless Bangladesh freeze in headlights like Eng did in Adelaide they won't lose.

If they just play normal cricket they will come out with a comfortable draw. Only chance is if they get onto blocking mode trying to save game

2 early wickets they will have no choice but to defend. When you attack nervously you will committ more errors
 
Yes, India can easily win from here. I also think it will be good for BD in the long term if they loose, as they werent going to get much from a draw anyway. As Mehidy says they learned lot from the spanking they took lol. They already got their yearly bonuses, cars, and whatnot from Pak series.
 
Am honestly surprised by the comments here. Can Ind still defeat Ban this test ? Well , my thinking Ind is absolutely fave to win from hereon. Ban has to pull out a rabbit from the hat to just save this match, forget about winning it. Weather is the only thing that can stall Ind but looks like its fine. Another 2-0 series win loading for Ind.

its not that easy for India considering they dont have any massive lead and its a last Day of Test tomorrow.
 
Bangladesh need to take it session by session.

Mushfiq, Shakib, Litton, and Mehidy need to show applications and bat out the day.

Depends on how bdesh will react under pressure.
 
If India manages to get 3-4 wickets before lunch, I would say that India will have the upper hand otherwise it might be a draw.
 
India needs 95 runs to win the 2nd test matches.

Can they chase without any trouble ?
 
Congratulations to all Indian fans. This is an emphatic win and they have flipped the script for test match cricket beyond what bazball has done already.

I usually want India to lose, but in this game, they deserved a reward for their bravery and approach.

I think it just takes one game to know you can play like this and it could totally transform the way they approach tests in the future too.

@sweep_shot @Dhakar Pola I told you I had a gut feeling Bangladesh could lose in two days :(

Bangladeshis please do not come to India again to play any more test series. I still cannot believe Bangla let India win the match in around 2 days, leave test matches for the big boys, you just stick to T20s & ODIs

Do feel for brother Das though... :(

Like I said above, the result was never in doubt.
 
I still wonder why Bangladesh team could not do a gritty blockathon. As another point, recently Bangladesh played away test series in both Pakistan and India. Do the results indicate the exact standing of these three teams? Is the gap between the teams India and Pakistan this wide?

Yes gap is that wide but bdesh failed under pressure. It's both. India is too strong in Asia. Kings of Asia.

As I said- Ind cruised through..what a win!! This was like the Aussies of the 2000s the Waugh Ponting eras where they would win out of nowhere.. Good to see this Ind team relive some of those Aus ruthless memories!👍
Hats off to Rohit and co - this is the brand of cricket they need to be playing!
