China blocks India's move to ban Jaish chief Masood Azhar at UN

No mate, Apple and other tech companies are in China because manufacturing is cheap and since the margins are great the profits are massive. Apple products do not sell well in China and India because their products are too expensive, even for the middle class!

You've now mentioned Western aid? Why? You do realize Indian economy would not be where it is had it not been for Western colonialism and foreign investment. So this talk of Western aid is moot.

India doesn't buy off USA when it comes to military, but did try to buy off Israel. Same difference.

I agree that Kashmir is a major point, but it is a misnomer and a political weapon on both sides. Despite the LOC; free borders, free economics, no trade barriers between China, Pakistan, and India are still possible, but India has a bee in its bonnet. Why did India refuse to sign up to CPEC? For what reason? Hindu nationalism? Or the love of Western money?

Contrary to your opinion, Apple's growth in phones was BECAUSE of China. You are right about India but check the numbers in China. I covered the rest of the points already.

Where did Isay Apple's growth was not effected by sales in China?

I was merely pointing out that China is the epicenter of manufacturing due to cheap labour resulting in higher margins.

So, you can claim China is not a political or economical power, you can claim Chinese tariffs have no effect, but the evidence stacks against you. (You have not addressed these points).

However please let me know why Apple et al do not shift their manufacturing out of China when you get a chance, considering you believe China is small fish in a big world.

You mentioned apple products don't sell well in China. That was not a fact. China is an economical power and they are a political power too but they have their limits. They can't influence the decisions in the west. They don't take an active part in UNSC or decide the course of events across the world. West is still a leader in that. Chinese tarriffs hurt China more than US. China was and is a manufacturing hub but they are winding down because of increasing costs and also because they want to move their economy towards high growth, high tech industries instead of low cost manufacturing. Many companies have moved their manufacturing from China to Vietnam, Combodia etc.

Apple does not shift manufacturing out of China yet because they are one Western company that still have a brand value among the Chinese. Apple doesn't want to seem alienating or disowning the Chinese when their growth depends on Chinese consumers.

China have decided not to impose a ban on JEM chief. If this is not power then I do not know what is. Why are India so cut up about the decision if they believe China has no influence in UNSC?

As for Apple brand value, Apple is one of the biggest brands in the West, despite not manufacturing in the West. Meaning, brand value has nothing to do where the brand is manufactured. Same goes for companies like Nike et al.

Which companies have moved their manufacturing from China to Vietnam?

I explained the reasons behind JeM in UNSC. It's an irritant to China. It's just India's game trying to show up Pak and China as supporters of terror with the backing of US, France, Russia and UK.

You need to read up on brand loyalty and value in nationalist countries like China. The Chinese have a sheep mentality unlike in the west. The mass ban of products is routine in China. Read up on how Chinese boycotted South Korean products when they heard SK was deploying THAAD. You don't see things like that in the west.

As far as Vietnam goes, here

I asked you for which companies had moved to Vietnam, not which companies approached Vietnam.

I am well aware of brand loyalty. After all, USA are asking Canada to extradite the daughter of Huawei's founder, and get the brand banned in the 5 eyes circle. Yet some claim Chinese tariffs have no effect on the West. Oh well.

Dude...all of this info is well documented online. Just do a Google search for the companies. I already mentioned Huawei above. It's a witch Hunt by US for very specific reasons and proves my point as to why China is a baby when it comes to wielding influence. Rest of the Chinese companies are just copy cats of US tech.

It's the opposite. China imposes tariffs on USA, and USA weep with this Huawei stunt. In other words, USA is trying to hurt China because of the tariffs and drop in US tech profits. There is a reason why economists have clearly stated the Trumps tariffs are economic suicide.

I will not Google, you made the claim, I expected you to back it up.

Most of your statemenmts indicate you need some reading up to do. I went as far as I could go to humor you.

Huawei, Ericsson, Nokia are the three largest wireless equipment providers in the world. Huawei is considered to be at an advanced stage compared to the the other two in 5G tech. As you may or may not be aware, 5G is going to be the core of every new tech including Driverless auto, iOT etc. USA is hitting CHina where it hurts. Questioning the legitimacy of CHinese crowning jewel Huawei and claiming they are the spies of CPC. CHina is moving away from manufacturing and is investing heavily into the next gen tech and this is west's way of showing they still control the proceedings. Anyway, good chat

You have changed your story again.

First you claim China is nothing, now you claim China has economical and political leverage, albeit limited.

Fact is India doesn't hold a candle to China be it on the global scale or regional scale.

I understand you are upset with China and the JEM, but fact is you couldn't even cite companies shifting to Vietnam to substantiate your claim. Hence there rest of your points are mere noise.

All the best.

Comprehension is a skill. Read your own posts and you will see how you flipped a bunch of times like a cheap burger at Wendy's. Apple does not sell many products in CHina is one of your "facts". And then, West buys apple phones despite them not being manufactured in the west and hence the brand value is good is one of the ignorant views on brand value and image. Anyway, Ive humored you enough. Not my problem if you cant understand things

You had your chance and blew it. All I did was ask you to back your claim, and you failed miserably. I mean you are still at it, why not post some links? You clearly have time!

Not my fault pal.

Next time try not to argue with headlines.

"Act Cautiously," China Tells US After Its Move On Masood Azhar At UN

The US, supported by France and the UK, has moved a draft resolution in the UN Security Council to blacklist Masood Azhar, head of Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed

New Delhi: China on Thursday accused the US of undermining the authority of the UN anti-terror committee by "forcefully moving" a resolution at the UN Security Council to list Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist. America's move only "complicates" the issue, said Beijing, which was seen as a hint by many that China would continue to block the move.
The US, supported by France and the UK, has moved a draft resolution at the UN Security Council to blacklist the Pakistan-based terror group's chief, two weeks after China put a hold on a proposal to list Masood Azhar under the 1267 Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee of the Council.Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang told a media briefing: "This is not in line with resolution of the issue through dialogue and negotiations. This has reduced the authority of the committee as a main anti-terrorism body of the UNSC and this is not conducive to the solidarity and only complicates the issue. We urge the US to act cautiously and avoid forcefully moving forward this resolution draft."

The US has circulated a resolution - drafted with British and French support - to the 15-member council that will designate JeM leader Masood Azhar, subjecting him to an arms embargo, travel ban and asset freeze.

JeM has claimed responsibility for a February 14 attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama that killed at least 40 CRPF personnel, making it the deadliest in Kashmir during a 30-year-long insurgency.

The United States, Britain and France initially asked the Security Council's ISIS and al Qaeda sanctions committee, which operates by consensus, to blacklist Masood Azhar. However, China prevented the move.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said that China had conducted a "comprehensive and thorough evaluation" but still needed more time to consider the proposal. China had previously prevented the committee from sanctioning Azhar in 2016 and 2017.

JeM was blacklisted by the UN Security Council in 2001. In December 2001, Jaish fighters, along with members of another Pakistan-based terrorist group, Lashkar-e-Taiba, attacked India's parliament, which almost led to a fourth war between the two countries.

If I had the kind of influence India supposedly has in Washington, I’d be asking for f35’s. But then, I am a somewhat normal dude, not a chowkidar

India can easily get the F-35 if they want it. India's status is equal to Nato Allies with the Americans. India however does not want the F-35 as it will jeopardize India's relations with their biggest ally Russia.

Yeah that's right China act cautiously, Instead of torturing and killing so many muslims in your country, start being more humane..

Why though? Getting F35s will give India a massive advantage over Pakistan which would be worth the Russians' ire. Its not like Russia is giving any better toys.

What is the ally doing for now? They have warmed up to us quite a lot. I do know how politics work, seems like Indians don't hence why their repeated diplomatic failures to isolate a bankrupt country.

They have warmed up to Pakistan because of India buying more weapons from the US and their market share going down. It is simply a message to India that is all, in reality Russians don't feel they can get much from Pakistan as Russians know Pakistan has no money. It is pure India factor which made Russia engage with Pakistan and it has worked, as India wont pursue the F35...

Maybe you ought to work on your comprehension or post when sober.

Yes, you asked a question and I answered, which I have highlighted previously, so I am glad you finally understand... Instead of being butt hurt with my reply for that question, maybe you should ask yourself; why you asked a silly question that received a sarcastic reply..

I am not the one butt hurt, you were hence you responded with sarcasm :))

As I said, you're probably drunk posting. Wouldn't be the first time I hear..

Also Pakpak another reason why the Indians wouldn't want the F-35 would be due to the kill switch trigger each of the plane has built in it...

Warmed up? When was the last time a Russian President met a Pakistani PM?

Russia warming up to Pakistan is nothing but a figment of imagination. A number of times Russia has come out and officially denied statements by Pakistan where they have spoken on behalf of Russia on India.

Russia just leased India another nuke submarine. Thats the kind of relation India had with Russia.

Russia has already said that even if India is not a partner in Su 57, India would be offered the Su 57.

India wont pursue the F35 as US toys have a lot of EULA related issues and thats why all frontline attack India equipment will be Russian European or Israeli.

While US will get deals of supportive equipments.

India will but Su 57 from Russia. While use French help to build an engine for the Indian 5th gen fighter. Israeli avionics will be used in that fighter and Russia will likely help with the design.

France has already offered india to partner them on their next gen fighter, and india most likely will join them.

Right now India doesnot need the F35 with the baggage it comes with. 150 Rafales plus 300 MKIs plus 50 Super Sukhois will be enough to handle anything Pakistan and China can throw at India in terms of technology.

Remember there is a separate 50 plane contract for carrier based planes that may go to F 18s.

Add to that the S400s from Russia. The Israeli Baracks and Indian SAMs.

In 2-3 years Indian air defence will be formidable.

Bro,

I know what you are saying, which is why I said on that post 'Russians dont feel they can get much from Pak'. We all know Pakistan is just being used as a small tool to keep the Indians from getting too cosy with the Americans weapon's purchase wise... As long as we balance our relations with the Russians, Russia wont give much weaponry that is off any threat to India, Oh I heard Pak posters here saying the Su-35 to Pak is all but a done deal ? lol Guess not :p...

Ok if you feel I was the one butt hurt then, so be it, whatever makes you feel better about yourself at the end of the day

Usually I have all Indians on my ignore list barring Varun and big gamer. I removed you from it think it'd good to have a civil conversation as you post well when you can.

Seems like I was mistaken. Back on the ignore list

In 2-3 years Indian air defence will be formidable.

I have ZERO confidence in any airforce or air defence related issues until HAL is dismissed and all it's employees are behind bars, held for treason.... As long as HAL is around, we will never get anywhere and NO ONE CAN CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE...

lol at Russia selling strategic weapons to Pakistan. Do you know how much the Su-35 costs ? Indonesia is almost buying a dozen of them for over 1.1 billion USD. Pak simply can't afford to pay for them.

Money talks - and even if Russia lost the fighter deal, India buys a ton of other shiny military hardware from Russia . Putin has come out time and again saying that Russia will never make a deal that jeopardizes its relations with India.

That’s as good as impossible then. Shifting suppliers can take generations for a variety of reasons.

All PAF needs to do is keep updating F16's and keep doing R&d work on JF17 to make it as good as competition, in house. I don't get why Indians are so happy about buying expensive toys from other countries.

So China has been forced to remove the hold. Wonder what is the view of the posters who were saying that Chinese hold was logical.

United Nation: China delayed on Wednesday a proposal by the United States and India to sanction at the U.N. Security Council a top terrorist in the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorist group, diplomats said.

India and the United States wanted Abdul Rauf Azhar to be subjected to a global travel ban and asset freeze. Such a move has to be agreed by all 15 members of a Security Council sanctions committee.

"We placed a hold because we need more time to study the case. Placing holds is provided for by the Committee guidelines, and there have been quite a number of similar holds by Committee members on listing requests," a spokesperson for China's mission to the United Nations told Reuters.

The U.S. Treasury designated Azhar in 2010, accusing him of urging Pakistanis to engage in terrorist activities and organize suicide attacks in India.

The United States respects other countries needs to verify that a sanctions proposal meets their "domestic evidentiary threshold to justify a listing at the U.N.," a spokesperson for the U.S. mission to the United Nations said on Wednesday.

"The United States values cooperation with our Security Council partners to effectively use this tool in an apolitical way to stop terrorists from exploiting the global order to do their misdeeds," the spokesperson said.
