LOL!! Dhoni comes in ahead of Jaddu to steal the limelight.

If the taget was stiff, he would be hiding behind both Jaddu and Moen Ali.

Only ****, jadeja did n the last ball accoridng to cricinfo

Yesss!! CSKKK So happy!! Mohit did well but luck was on Jaddu’s side

GT 214/4 (20)

CSK 171/5 (15)

Chennai Super Kings won by 5 wkts - 2nd innings reduced to 15 overs due to rain, Target 171 runs

I am not a big fan of 2020 leagues in general but since it was a bank holiday I thought why not and todays game was very enjoyable and entertaining.
Mohit bowled a very good over at the end with his pinpoint Yorkers but credit to Jadeja especially that 6.

It is 1:36 in the morning, we've had to play this game over three days but it still went down to the very last ball of the competition. And now we can say it again - CSK are champions again!! A chase that was truncated down to 15 overs, got off to a solid start with their openers Ruturaj and Devon Conway getting them a top start once again. It was Conway who was the more aggressive, taking down Shami and Hardik in the powerplay. The introduction of Noor Ahmad got GT the wickets, as he dismissed both openers in the same over.

Players with most wins in IPL finals
6 - Rohit Sharma
6 - Ambati Rayudu
5 - Hardik Pandya
5 - Kieron Pollard
5 - MS Dhoni

Scoring at 10.7 an over for 20 overs to get 214 seems to be significantly more difficult than scoring at 11.4 for 15 overs to get 171 because you don't really need to care about your wickets. GT would've won comfortably if not for the rain.

I think they will be foreced to give the MOTM to the losing team. There is not a single person that should get the MOTM on the winning team :))

You do not talk to bowlers when they are in good rhythm. That broke his r hythm. He became under pressure after 6.

Full mood off...will go to bed early today

Despite loving Dhoni for most of his career, didn't want him to have a fairytale ending because of the way he dragged his international career and cost us that semifinal.

But man. What a game, what a win.

Don't follow IPL anymore, so it did get nostalgic watching him wave his arms around, cap on, long hair below it - just that image.

Then Rayudu, Rahane - who the hell gave the latter an IPL contract :))) - playing for all the oldies saying, Have a drink on us.

And then the big moment. Dhoni walks in. I felt it was a calculated move. To get the glory with a relatively easy target at that point and also because he fancied a couple of blows vs Mohit who if I recall used to bowl for CSK. Or maybe not. Maybe it was during his international career, but Mohit seemed always in awe when talking to MS and Dhoni perhaps felt he could boss him today. First ball out and I was confused - whether to feel happy or disappointed at a tactic fail.

Then the real Pappu of Indian politics - Jay Shah - seen making a vulgar gesture thinking GT were winning. And they were.

Then everyone interrupted Mohit. KP did say on air, they're messing up his zone.

Just before Mohit delivered the 2nd last ball that went for six, the cameras panned to Hardik who could be seen celebratorily smiling.

What do they always say?

Never celebrate too early.

Great day for Chennai overall, our player in Gujarat Sai smacked 90s but CSK won the title :)) winwin!

This was actually a much better IPL overall compared to last couple of seasons.

“Voice has gone already. Amazing feeling. To beat such a good side on a wicket like that was amazing. You're always learning from MS, just about how you deal with players and different situations.“

Moeen Ali

Nehra is getting trolled for sending water to Mohit and piece of advice as well after 4 balls. That was needless. It broke Mohit's rhythm.

Jadeja has to be coolest cricketer around, guy just never gets fazed and always contributes in some way or the other. He also got the key wicket of Gill.

Congratulations to CSK. Great season, great franchise. All credit to the team - players and coaches.

Fleming is an excellent coach. Too bad no international team will ever see him as their coach.

just saw the replay.

Basic cricket captaincy. If you are going to try to bowl a yorker than have either third man or fine leg at boundary not inside the circle.

Terrible captaincy by Dandya

Pandya failed tactically as captain... I think he is now demoralized. If he captains India its better the coach at least is level-headed. Let's hope he learns from this setback...

After Rayudu assault CSK needed 22 in 15 balls. They should have breezed through. Credit to GT to stretch them by giving away just 12 runs in the next 13 balls. They did their best. Just that things fell Mohit became too predictable. Dhoni was destined to win it. No other explanation.

CSK performed a special Pooja for IPL Trophy at the Tirupathi Temple.

No point in playing matches from next season. Let them announce MI and CSK as winners in alternate years. Let Dhoni & CSK lead those teams for next 20 years.

Same team purses for all teams. Regular mega auctions so lazy teams can "aquire" invested youngsters. Playing field is practically even but mentality isn't.

Gujarat won last time but it’s a dynasty, and it’s almost over for MI and CSK too will be down once Dhoni retires.

MI have a really strong team. They just need someone like Axar in the team to make their bowling strong without impacting their batting. Mumbai has an excellent young core of batsmen. The team that could be in trouble is RCB (Kohli and Faf will be an year older and DK will be gone). CSK will be down the dumpsters next year. They somehow eked out a win this year. They are not a good team.

CSK would had always been a force in UAE and India due to their approach and Dhoni’s captaincy.

The Malinga style bowler turned up for CSK this time and not to forget Dube and Rayudu.

I thought CSK were over 3 years ago.

They have won 2 ipls since then and I'm still waiting for them to be over. :(

Dube is still mediocre. Rayadu did not so anything until the finals where he scored a couple of big blows. CSK's strength was their opening combo of Gaikwad and Conway. If they did not score, their middle-lower order of Jaddu, Dube have bailed them out.
CSK is a terrible team who performed much better than the talent on paper. Chahar, DeshPande, Theekshana are nothing to write about. Pathirana was very good. I am still scratching my head as to how they won the title.

Depth and variety. GT also has depth and variety. Both teams didn't chop and change regardless of results.Core team was always the same. Murali vijay was a tuk tuk batsman when he started with CSK. They transformed him into a massive big hitter. Hit 11 sixes in one innings. Now here again Rahane has turned into a beast after 15 years. So is Shivam Dube. In other seasons Moeen Ali/Rayudu were contributing.

Ramiz Raja speaking on his YT:

“This IPL will be remembered for young batting talent, the likes of Rinku Singh, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad. These are stars who’ll decorate these grounds for many years to come. The season will also be remembered for the big names that were benched and players from small nations who made a big mark. For the fact that even if you have big names in the coaching staff in the dugout, there’s no guarantee of success for the teams. This IPL will be remembered for the fans, for great shot making and for great catching. Jab bowlers wicket lete the toh wo ulte seedhe bhangde nahi daalta the, they rather took their game up in the pressure situations. The tournament will be remembered for Gujarat Titans’ bowling and leg spin bowling. This IPL had a wow factor. There has never been a spectacle as big in IPL history.”

Plus you have team managements that release SKY and Gill.

Or Rashid Khan.

Etc.

I was highlighting players that were unlikely but showed up.

CSK has huge fan following , I think Dhoni coupled with majority same players led it to have a very loyal fanbase outside of TN.

Success (trophies) have added to the huge fan following! Yes Dhoni's presence has helped a lot, but success played the part hugely! Of course with Dhoni (and his luck and aura) straight away fetches success most times...

RCB with literally zero success and paltry team most times (barring few individuals) surprisingly have a an equally astonishing fan base (again Kohli's presence might have helped a bit, but there is something else beyond that)

Everybody pities three legged dog. It never wins a race but it tries and that's always admired.

So they throw a bone at it.

Their fans don't really care. They are disappointed. There is no dip in their intensity.
